Hello friend ✌️
I love how the song sounds so happy but yet the lyrics are honestly such an accurate representation of what it's like to be an anxious and depressed adult lol.
Innit! 😭
It's almost like... adults feel that way, no matter what, even THOUGH most 30 year olds (who were born in the 90s) feel like they're the ONLY ones to ever feel anxious and depressed about being their 30s.
Bro that's just Ska Punk in general

@@poutinedavid8937 well that's because at the moment they are, because no one else is in their 30s
I remember this song from playing Tony Hawk on my older cousin's PS1 as a little kid. I am now old enough that the lyrics are becoming relatable.
Fun and catchy song as a kid. Existential dread as an adult.

Even the THPS documentary is titled "Pretending I'm a Superman"
Lyrics:
[Intro]
So here I am
Doing everything I can
Holding on to what I am
Pretending I'm a superman
[Verse 1]
I'm trying to keep
The ground on my feet
It seems the world is falling down around me
The nights are all long
I'm singing this song
To try and make the answers more than maybe
[Pre-Chorus]
And I'm so confused about what to do
Sometimes I wanna throw it all away
[Chorus]
So here I am
Growing older all the time
Looking older all the time
Feeling younger in my mind
And here I am
Doing everything I can
Holding on to what I am
Pretending I'm a superman
[Verse 2]
I'm trying to sleep
I lost count of sheep
My mind is racing faster every minute
What could I do more
Yeah, I'm really not sure
I know I'm running circles but I can't quit
[Bridge]
Controlling everything in sight
Feeling weak I don't feel right
You're telling me I have to change
Telling me to act my age
But if all that I can do
Is just sit and watch time go
Then I'll have to say good-bye
Life's too short to watch it fly
So watch it fly
You legend
Well done, pal!
Thanks!
For how upty the beat of the song is it's actually pretty damn sad
Double pump in the halfpipe.
I am in my 60s, and I absolutely love this track. For one thing, it's so exciting, and just about perfect in every way. But mostly, I love it because I know that if I first heard "Superman" at 13, I would have felt as if it were speaking directly to me. When we get old, we should never forget what it's like surviving adolescence. It's probably the hardest thing a person can ever do.
Dude being a young adult can seem so easy for older generations because it seems like there’s limitless opportunities but honestly it could be hard enough when you don’t have strong relationships or friendships or don’t know what you want to be
@@fernandoluna6410 When you're that age, all those opportunities look more like impossible obstacles that scare the crap out of you.
While I appreciate your sentiment your math doesn't add up. The song came out in 1996 and if your 60 now you wouldn't have been 13 when it was released.

I was 14 when this song came out, we had to wait hours just to see this vid on MTV, we had no internet.
