You are probably right in assuming plenty of push-back on your position on this one. Including myself. I hear a significant “soul sleep” presupposition position being brought into the interpretation of scripture. This is not “The Truth has nothing to fear”. Elevating of some scriptures out of context, and the distorting and ignoring of some others. I tried to post a much longer response BUT it is not being allowed for some reason.

Nothing to make since about the true story. The rich that abused others to get their riches are lost and going to the bad waiting place for judgement.Lazarus, the poor guy was rich in spirit and lived a righteous life, when he died he went to paradise, the nice resting place awaiting judgement.Thevparable basically says they changed places, the rich man gets nothing for eternity, and Lazarus gets his hearts desire in eternity.

Sorry, but it's not a parable. It's a true story related by Christ Himself.

When Jesus referred to a parable, He often said, "It is LIKE", or similar. But when referring to this true story He uses real, specific names such as Lazarus, real places such as Paradise and the place of the dead, and circumstances. You can research it more with any number of concordences. There are real differences.
