Summer Fun: Homemade Strawberry Infused Ice Cream Using a Chamber Vacuum Sealer
Avid Armor’s Take on Ice Cream in a Bag
Summer is in full swing and one of the best ways to beat the heat this season is with ice cream! We all know that ice cream tastes better if you make it yourself, so here is our take on ice cream in a bag. This is a great activity to do with the kiddos, and get them involved in the kitchen. This recipe is a lot of fun, it only involves a few key ingredients, and it’s super simple to do at home.
We opted to use a chamber vacuum machine for this recipe because one of the largest benefits of using a chamber machine is how well they can handle sealing liquid items. Using a chamber vacuum sealer also helps infuse the flavor of the strawberries and vanilla with the half and half. And since we’re using vacuum bags instead of traditional ziplock bags this recipe is leak-proof, so no need to worry about any potential spills.
Pro-Tip: when vacuum sealing liquids using a chamber vacuum machine, make sure you only fill the bags up halfway. This is to ensure that while the vacuum cycle is running, no liquids bubble up and spill out of the pouch.
    Directions
    1. In the 10 x 13 chamber vacuum pouch combine the half-and-half, sugar, and vanilla.
We added chopped strawberries to this mixture to add some extra flavor.
    2. Vacuum seal the half-and-half mixture using your chamber vacuum sealer.
    3. In a gallon sized vacuum sealer bag combine ice and salt. Place the bag with the half-and-half mixture inside the vacuum sealer bag.
You may have to fold the excess of the chamber bag up a little bit so it fits inside the sealer bag nicely.
    4. Using your chamber vacuum sealer, seal that gallon sized bag, externally.
We did a seal only, to leave room in the bag to shake up the ice.
    5. Once that gallon bag has been sealed, shake it for 7 to 10 minutes, until ice cream is solid.
    6. Open the bag of ice and remove the bag containing the half-and-half mixture. Open the half-and-half mixture and scoop out the ice cream.
    7. Serve with your favorite toppings like chocolate sauce, sprinkles, etc. We opted to use strawberries, strawberry syrup, and vanilla wafers.

Such a fun idea! And I LOVE this little girl Avery! I have a CZcams channel, and she is wonderful! I found myself watching her expressions more than the Avid Armor demonstration! Her parents should be very proud! She deserves her own channel!

😍Thank you so much for this video. My first time ever making ice cream this way, or any way as a matter of fact. It was fun. 🤗 And what's nice about it is that you can add healthy ingredients that suit you as an individual such as,...organic or lactose free half and half, and raw honey or date syrup vs. sugar, for different flavor almond extract vs. vanilla, chocolate chips, raisins, slivers of almonds vs strawberries. It's fun to experiment in small batches like this and it takes no time at all.😋 Yum! 🍨

Here’s another trick. If your sealer bag is too wide you can make a seam with the sealer on a corner of the bag. Picture a pipet bag. Using a scissors, cut off the excess plastic from your corner seal. Now place the new tapered bag in the vacuum sealer, vacuum and seal.

Avery, you inspired me to make ice cream today. Thanks! Hmmm, no cream...no problem. I will try it with buttermilk! Bet it works just fine.

Love my USV20. I bought a "vacuum seal zip lock bag funnel" from Amazon a round plastic where you can insert in the bag and it goes down about three inches, allowing you to pour in liquids into the bag without getting the top inside part of the bag wet making sealing of liquids a breeze. It has a wide neck and you can hold the funnel in the bag with one hand and pour with the other. Fantastic!!

This is overselling a chamber sealer... you can do the same, with a little care, in the other kind of bar sealer. In fact this recipe could be made with ziploc bags and water displacement.... Or simply using jars one inside the other. Sorry to be so critical but I'm letting you know honestly that I am not impressed. The video is otherwise great and it's wonderful to involve your kids and the overall quality of that portion of the video is great but unfortunately this is not earning a subscription, From me.

Thank you for watching! This video was made simply as a fun activity to do with kids. It's a fun education exercise on how the ice cream is made as well as how a chamber sealer works. Kids tend to be fascinated by this. Chamber sealers are by far a better option when it comes to vacuum sealing liquids as it's what they're intended for. Please watch some of our other CZcams videos as they will show you other benefits of a chamber machine vs an edge (bar) type suction sealer. Cheers!
