It is ~50 miles from Dover, UK to Calais, France. Being generous, if he actually went one mph in a straight line across the strait, it would take him over two days.
Of course, the hole in his little tub-ship would let in water, and he'd drown. If he made it watertight, he'd suffocate. That's also assuming that he'd somehow make it out of that little harbor he started in, which looked like it had the current of a abandoned kiddie pool.
Not to mention if he'd make it out of that harbour, there would still be nothing propelling him towards France. The stream could take him anywhere but France.
And if he made it too far out the English channel is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. So he'd be a chopped up, suffocated guy in a box.

That guy. What's the rope even for though? If it's to pull him back incase of fictional leaks its awful since it goes out so easily and isn't even tied in a knot bigger than the hole or anything.

It's actually extremely obvious what the rope was for... They never filmed the box floating out in the water without the rope, given that he was *never inside* while the box was in the water. The rope was simply there to pull the empty box back after filming it, since they needed the box later on for him to film himself with the box and pretend that he had just "arrived" on the shore in France. They didn't want to lose the box just to pretend he was floating away, so they came up with a bullshit explanation for attaching a rope.
I mean, there were like 200 red flags in the video, that just SCREAMED fake. Such as the fact that "water tight" also means *AIR TIGHT* , which in turn means that he would've been brain dead after about 15 minutes. Also, duct tape can't withstand water, so the whole idea falls apart completely.
But despite all this, 95% of all people who watched the video believes that it's real, which is extremely frustrating and tragic. I mean, many of the people who believed it are grown adults, who get to vote in presidential elections and stuff. That is VERY scary, if you ask me.
When so many people can be so mind-numbingly gullible that they believe that video is real, just imagine what a decently skilled politician can do to them.

gustavlp Actually he'd survive in there for about 4 hours if it was sealed. A human breathes around 458 liters of air in an hour, (20% of it is oxygen) and uses around 5% of the oxygen. I'd say one of those boxes is approx 80cm×60cm×50cm, and there's two of them, which hold around 480 liters of air in them, or 96 liters of oxygen.
Nonetheless, it'd still be a moronic thing to do.
