  • Serdar Arat talks about how students in the Digital Age have weaker memory skills and how he introduced a new teaching method in his Art History lectures to help students overcome their difficulties.
Serdar Arat is a visual artist, exhibiting internationally since the 1980’s, primarily in New York City, Istanbul, and Chicago, among others. His work as an artist is characterized by shaped paintings on canvas and wood, with dimensional surfaces, and metaphorical images of vents, sirens, and shadows, as well as sculptural landscapes in cast bronze and mixed media. A short documentary film, These Paintings Cast Shadows, by Kenneth Calhoon, exploring the process of Arat’s work was completed in 2013. His awards and grants as an artist include Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, and 4th Asian-European Biennial Painting Award, Ankara Turkey.
