Hi All, thanks for watching this video, please consider subscribing to the channel and please hit the like button if you found this video useful.
I will be releasing a series of videos with this scope over the coming weeks showing things like SBUS, I2C and FPV on the oscilloscope so please check them out as well.
I have also been asked what this scope is like compared to the Siglent SDS1202X-E, t is a tough choice this and I was looking my self. The Siglent is a newer scope overall but the Rigol is based on some very established models. I have also seen some comments on the Siglent reliability but can’t comment on that my self.
The Siglent has a few more decoding features but the Rigol has larger memory depth, overall they are VERY close and you would be happy with either most likely.
For info on both models checkout Telonic in the uk at www.telonic.co.uk and they should be able to help you.

Sir: Permit me to thank you for your inordinately well presented review. You maintain a regular voice level, & you articulate exceptionally well. I have two 200 mHz scopes (both Tektronix) , & I simply want to get rid of them as well as other quality instruments that work well but are old , large & really need to be overhauled, caps changed, out of tolerance resistors etc. I will give these to one of the ham radio clubs & buy new equipment. Your review has settled my purchase. I have Rigol spectrum analyzers, & they are excellent. Cheers! from Canada

I have one, picked it up in May, and I have no complaints. I do a lot of different things, but I repair a lot of audio equipment and this scope does it's job very well. My 1st scope was in '93, a Kenwood CS-4025, a two channel 20Mhz unit, it was great but it's nice to have the storage ability for grabbing intermittent signals . Bang for buck it's a great product in my opinion. Good review.

The DC / AC coupling mode on the input isn't about measuring AC or DC voltages, nor are there "Ground" based signals. The GND selection is typically used to "zero" that scope input when you're doing some clever Math thing using multiple channels.

Thank you for the video, I think this is the most concise and accurate description.
But completely on a different topic, can we measure switching transients which measure upto 4KV with a time duration of 50ns using 10X CAT II probes , or should we be using Differential probes.
For your kind information I am measuring these transients that are effecting near GPIO pins of the micro controller.
Any help or advice is most appreciated.

Nice clear video, - maybe zoom in a bit more on the screen to read the text.
I'd also like to see its limits, like the -3dB bandwidth, measuring the min rise time, smallest measurable signal, and such.
Is the vertical sensitivity for this scope 500uV/div (X1 probe)? That would be better than most scopes.
The servo measurements had a noisy baseline. I wouldn't be concerned because it is likely due to a poor probe ground. One of the reasons to keep the ground clip short. In fact the signal may be cleaner if the ground clip was on the probe tip ground. For high frequency or low level signals, a small piece of stiff wire soldered on a ground near the signal to the ground by the tip is best. In this case, smaller is better.

I wanted to provide a quick update. So far this scope has been working out really great for my use. I've mainly been using this in robotics and RC projects to troubleshoot and resolve noise and other sensor signal timing related issues. So far, I haven't run in to situations where the 2ch and 200Mhz has been a limitation. Definitely recommend adding this to your workbench as a first/budget scope. You can always sell it off and pick up a better scope if you start running in to limitations as you build more complex projects.
Edit: Damn, just checked the price on this and it's gone up to $370ish on Amazon. I grabbed it for $300.

After I watched this video for the first time, I ordered this 'scope from Telonic, which arrived today. I would really like to hear your fan, as mine sounds quite noisy. The info you give is far better than trying to wade through the manual However, you need to seriously slow down, then we stand more chance of learning. For instance, when you went through the acquire, cursor, display, etc buttons, you want so fast when disabling them and I struggled with that. I look forward to your tutorials, but please go to the loo first so that you are not in such a hurry :)

Thanks for the beautiful presentation, I am sure you covered elegantly the subject. I just have very hard time to see a scope creating a sinus signal with a 2.5 acquisitions. They are advertising 200 MHz with two channels with a 1 GSa/s. Theoretically the Nyquist theorem is respected but it seems 2.5 acquisition for a signal is lowest limit.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  Před 2 lety +1

That’s at X1 mode on the probe. You can simply go to X10 setting and you will be fine. That 300v input is at the port. The X10 setting allowed for X10 of that. If you wanted to be 100% safe with zero risk of issues you should use a Differental Probe. However just setting to X10 will be fine but just note that you will be grounding that to your mains Earth as well.

I have a tablet touch screen one but it’s not what I like. I need a device I can become one with and this looks like the one. I will be checking out the rest of your play list because you give a very clear and understandable video on what you are doing. Now does it come with a 110V US power plug? I would also like to purchase from a reputable source do you recommend your supplier?
