I’m glad he told us what he does. I wish more guests would give a proper introduction like that.
Yes! Criterion, please make this a standard thing :)
Naaa i think the guest should be free to say what the want. The compelte openness of the format makes the charme
"These I'm taking these for dad. 'Notorious' and 'Rebecca,' my dad raised me on Hitchcock." The young man's father raised him right, clearly.
🎯💯
This is such an inspiring visit! His range of choices is stunning!!
Yes, STUNNING !! 🙄
I had never heard of Mr. Mitchell before, and he is so engaging and infectiously enthusiastic here. It's also nice to see a fellow Georgia native in a Criterion Closet video! I just happened to had made my first attendance at a Criterion Sale five days ago. I went with a friend at two Barnes and Noble stores in two different towns (Buford and Snellville).
agreed. he's got some films that i have in my collection. i like his taste in films. the barnes & noble near the braves stadium at cumberland is a good place to find some criterion blu-rays. the one at buckhead is terrible as it's gotten really small.
Really surprised to see Tyler here, given as he’s not an actor or filmmaker but awesome picks! As black folk cinephilia, and being really into art is something that’s not seen as cool or particularly common, and I’m hoping people see this and give a lot of the rather arthouse and foreign titles he picked a shot. Y’all need to tune in to Tyler Mitchell, he’s him.
It's uplifting to see a young heart so clearly empassioned by cinema and its powers. Also neat to see La Ciénega next to L'Argent.
YES! I love that he’s stuffing his bag like we all want to do.
There was a radio show in San Francisco called The Human Chorus, interviewed the composer on Punch Drunk Love. I learned that the tracks were prepared prior to shooting, so PTA could play the loops for Sandler on set to help inform his performance.
I've searched for archives of the radio program, to no avail.
pure and utter enthusiasm from this young photographer. You get engrossed in that enthusiasm as a viewer.
He's so charming. Love his taste
Really enjoyed Tyler's enthusiasm over film, and that his picks were unique and personal.
Amazing picks, 3 Women is one of my all time favorites
It boggles my mind that 3 Women doesn’t get talked about more.
As a fellow NYU alum, I wasn't expecting the shout-out to Nick Tanis' Language of Film class, which was also my introduction to Ozu lol.
finally, re satyajit ray, a film other than the apu trilogy. the music room is one of his very best, and overlooked.
Ohhhh!!! He chose Claudine!!! Awesome!! That one of my next picks!!!
Can we get a second parter where he brings his dad in plz
Nice to see a Hitchcock and Bresson in a single pick
Time really took me aback with how much it did in so little time, jumping back and forth between 20+ years of time
And he chose Love and Basketball and 3 Women!!!! Cool!!
BTW, Tyler isn’t alone in watching Love and Basketball. Took me 22 years to watch it!
Lol shouts out to Nick Tanis 😂 He was my Language of Film professor too!
I was thinking of Tyler Mitchell from those Blu ray unboxings.
Just curious, what would any of you pick if you had the opportunity to access the Criterion closet?
The rest of Lucrecia Martel's filmography needs to be in the collection
hell yeah!!!! i love her films.
Great picks.
FINALLY, a visitor is not just taking titles that they've already seen.
Brilliant choices
@criterioncollection Please, CPL on that lens so we can see the covers. Thanks.
good picks and taste
Man I had some great picks
Nick Tanis Language of Film!!!!
I would say Tyler will one day move into directing
Claudine! Diahann Carroll in her best role.
It’d be so cool if Criterion chose normies to do this. Allow them to select a few films and talk about them. Like, for example, I dunno. Me? Pick me? That’d be so cool.
Don’t get the adoration for PT Anderson but his choice of three women was
Quite a collection in that open door closet over my left shoulder. How on earth would he ever have time to watch all that without repeated rapid fire fast-forwardings?
How about doing Pixar Collections like Wall-e?
Wow, what a cool guy -- and I haven't seen any of these except for the PTA. And to quote Arnold: Who is your daddy and what does he do? Elvis? Cameron? Billy?
How is she though?
Where s Todd haynes ?
Why doesn't Criterion invite me at this point?
lol
You guys got robbed!
Black community: "Say what? Robert E. Lee was the good guy?!!"
who the fuck is that?
Diversity hire.
Someone more talented and interesting than you 😊
@@ririschannelx i doubt that 😁
terrible!
