    I can’t get myself to ever use progressive. Tried and just don’t work. Multifocal knees are good for me now

    I just purchased those exact same eyeglasses 👓 from Vision Works. Also with progressive lenses. It’s my first time wearing them. Now I don’t have to take off my eyeglasses 👓 to read anymore.

      What’s your verdict? How long does it take to get used to them? To the glasses or zones move out of alignment? Ty

    Hello Doc, can I wear reading glasses when working, then progressive after work?

    The theory of varifocals is intriguing. The Swiss Army Knife of lens technology.
    The reality for me is not acceptable. I have tried them twice and I can't accept the 30-40% of blurry edge vision and having to move my head instead of my eyes. I'm somewhat jealous of those that find them perfect. But paying a premium price for imperfect compromised vision is unacceptable to me. I buy bifocals or single vision distance every time now.

      Some people just don't get on with them...
      Have you tried the most advanced varifocals?
      And have you tried invisible bifocals?

    • @akahina
      @akahina Před rokem +1

      @@thespectaclefactory By "invisible bifocals" do you mean a Hard/Short Corridor design? I asked my optician about that and was told it was an old design I wouldn't like.
      My vision is good for reading at 12-24 inches, I need myopic correction, and am presbiopic from old age and IOLs. My add equaled my minus correction, but because of my hobby I had them add a bit additional. (-2.25, add +2.75)
      I should email you but feel like I would be wasting your time now. I can't get what I want in the US (Adaptive Sun) so will eventually order from you, but need financial recovery from many new lenses.

      No an 'invisible bifocal' only has 2 focusses, rather than varifocals which have many + a gradual change from distance to near.
      Most wearers find them the same as bifocals with the line, but better.
      The advantage is that switching between the 2 focusses is easier without the line in the way. There is a 'blend zone' instead of around 1mm where the focus is not good, but just the same as if you tried to read through the line on your bifocals.
      Oh and they are a round segment.

      @@thespectaclefactory Actually, this sounds ideal to me. Thank you!
      Next pair in the spring: Adaptive Sun brown gradient, red flash. And invisible bifocals if possible.

    Are ‘office lenses’ varifocal too, but designed for close up use instead?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Před rokem +1

      Technically, yes. But we prefer not to use that term as some people don't like varifocals but do love office lenses

    Can optical stores make varifocal lenses at their shop? Or do they get sent away to be made by the lens company itself?

      Not without some kind of human interaction to make sure they are going to be aligned properly
