Thanks for another great video. My 5125r will be delivered to my property in Hill County, Texas tomorrow morning. I am looking very much forward to getting in it and experiencing the features you have discussed. I went out to the dealer this morning and ran through a few things on my own, up until they came to get it for a pre-delivery check and wash. Way bigger than my 3520. I think there will be a bit of a learning curve.
Great tractor, as long as you don't want to stop, brakes are lethal. Have had various updates. It does now actually stop now but still not great. I have the command 8 in U.K.

I bought this tractor six months ago and after using it for three months the speed sensor apparently went out. They had to completely disassemble the tractor and break it in half. After a month in the shop I finally have it back

My 5R also shows the 4wd indication light when it auto downshifts. I'm glad its not only mine. I find it strange that the light comes on for that, when it is supposed to be for 4wd indication.

It’s a safety feature. It will engage 4wd when both brake pedals are pressed.
Hey thanks for the videos... why do they give you two different multi ranges? CD and BCD. Also do you use the multi ranges while working implements in the field or only when traveling?
soosvt i believe they give you two multi-range options so that you can use whichever one is best suited to your situation. BCD is very handy for situations where I’m coming out of the field and onto a paved roadway. It lets me get the tractor from field speed to road speed very easily. I am sure you could use the multi range options in the field if you wanted to as there is no difference in the ranges wether grouped together or selected individually. Only disadvantage of using a multi range in the field is the danger of accidentally jumping a range or going too fast if you hit a bump in the field at the exact same moment you’re shifting up or down with the lever. A double toggle of the lever in either direction automatically skips the transmission to the next full range.
mbarber84 Thanks for the reply. The company I work for will be taking delivery of that tractor next week. Right now we have a 5085M with just under 7000 hours. It has seen a lot of hard work and is getting a little tired.

Couple more questions for you sir : does the command8 offer a creeper gear as well, or just the command quad? Also, the loader lights on the cab, when turned on do they kill the regular headlights or keep them on?
I believe the Command8 was offered with a creeper option, but I can’t confirm that as Deere has pulled all the information for the 5R series off their website. As far as the loader lights are concerned, I’m not sure which ones you’re referring to: the loader lights that are mounted directly to the boom on the loader, or the auxiliary loader lights that are attached to the front of the cab? The ones mounted to the boom on the loader can be switched on/off independently of the other lights. The ones mounted on the front of the cab should be set up so that they can be switched between those and the headlights on the front of the hood. There’s a switch on the right hand console that allows you to toggle between the front hood lights or the auxiliary loader lights. They’re not designed to operate both at the same time.
@@mbarber84 perfect thanks. I’m shocked they discontinued the 5R series. I ordered mine in January and still haven’t received it. There’s no information on why, and now it’s impossible to get any details on it.

In order to set a target ground speed, you need the Command8 transmission. The CommandQuad manual transmission does not have the ability to set a target speed.
Does the CommandQuad Automatic transmission allow you to select a target gear?
Can you show how to set up your forward/backward speeds for loading... I am having trouble with setting it up and constantly up shifting and down shifting. I have the Command8 trans. Thanks for all your videos... I filled out the JD customer service questionaire and was specific for there lack of JD training videos for setting up all the multiple functions for this tractor. PS did they perform the recall service on yours? Again...

The Massey Ferguson 5700 premium range of tractors are the best loader tractors on the market at present. They have all the features of this John Deere tractor which is a fine machine however I would move Deere's information display on the right pillar into the centre console under the steering wheel as Massey have done with their 5700 series. Putting the info display in the line of vision of the tractor driver means he/she is looking where they are driving rather than constantly looking back and forth as would be the case with the Deere, this is more important with a loader tractor doing loader work in tight spaces compared to field work where they are less obstacles to avoid.
It’s my first time driving this tractor myself as I’ll be using it to plow this winter, and I’ve never driven a tractor before so I apologize if this seems like a dumb question lol. But from the , video it looks like you don’t need to use the throttle/gas pedal at all? The one I’ll be using does have the switch to set ground speed also, but I was trying to figure out while I was testing it why it seemed so jumpy and finicky but I was using the gas pedal the whole time, not sure if that’s not needed?
No you don’t need to use the foot throttle if you don’t want to. The jumpy part could be if you’re testing it with a cold transmission and fluid. It’ll smooth out some when it warms up but this transmission is pretty snappy so I can’t say for sure.
@@mbarber84 that’s fantastic, thank you! So what use is the foot throttle for? Lol. I’m assuming the clutch is only needed in manual mode for stopping the tractor and having it disengage the transmission? Unless i put it in automatic I assume I don’t require the clutch at all either I would guess.

@@WelcomeToMyHead the foot throttle is handy for loader work. Some also prefer to use it for operating on roadways. I don’t use the foot throttle very often. The clutch can be used to stop / start the tractor like a traditional clutch, or it can be used only to inch the tractor. The power reverser transmission doesn’t require the use of the clutch when shifting from forward to reverse but some operators who grew up or were trained on older tractors may choose to use it like a traditional clutch. The 5R also comes standard with auto-clutch which turns the brake pedals in to a clutch. If you have it turned on, and press the brake pedals all the way down, the tractor will automatically disengage the clutch. When you begin to release the brakes the tractor re-engages the clutch. There are multiple sensitivity settings for autoclutch depending on what you’re doing.

Do you need to clutch every time you gear up or down? Or just going from like drive to reverse
With this transmission you only really need to use the clutch to stop and start moving. Everything else is automatic. You also do not need the clutch to shift from forward to reverse. There is a setting in the computer which controls how smoothly or abruptly the transmission will shift from forward to reverse.
