Come ride an adventure bike on an adventure
Honda shadow was my first and I still ride it to work every week. I pray for God's blessings and wisdom for you and yours. Thank you for ya'll work for vets and forgotten angels.
Hey at least u have African Twin matching gloves and didn't even know it!🎉🤘
I was thinking the same thing 😂
😅
You got to put it in sport mode, dude. It’s a great bike if you know how to ride it.
I 100% agree with the idea of putting a modern high HP engine in a cruiser chassis.
At this point I am considering doing it myself using an old VTX chassis I have.
Shadetree Surgeon sells Hondas better than Honda.
That Africa Twin’s “face” was definitely a Gundam. As soon as I saw it I thought “that looks like Wing Zero”.
Got my first bike 8 years ago because of you. I have to sell it now. I felt nostalgic, and I thought I'd check and see if you were still doing content. I'm glad to see you're doing good. 🤘🤘
DCT is a new learned skill... but its really easy once you learn it. Just like learning clutch control or anything else. I have to say I hate the auto shifting though, but with paddle shifters its great.
"Let's go back to when sex was safe and motorcycles were dangerous." when talking about the CBR engine going in a cruiser made me laugh hard.
My dad has a DCT 2020 Africa Twin and I will say that putting it in manual mode and using the shift buttons totally changes the feel of the bike and it's a blast. Speaking of how it sounds I LOVE the growling sound it makes at like 3500-4000 RPMs. The regular auto mode tries to go all the way to 6th gear as soon as possible and doesn't downshift that low when you go full throttle, definitely way too much "nanny control". It's a little better and more fun in the most aggressive tune settings but both me and my dad only ride it in manual mode and turned up. Downshifting in manual mode when slowing down and blipping up to like 4-5k RPM sounds incredible. Still feels really weird to not have a clutch but it's a really comfortable and smooth bike all around. I'd really like to ride one with a clutch after having ridden the DCT model a bunch.
Dude U got a like from Brazil.
U R my dream that came true. Old Bikes are very expensive here in Brazil it's cheaper buy it in USA put on ship and send here.
Keep making these kind of videos
A 4 cylinder cruiser sounds fuckin wild. No one would ever expect the pipes to make that sound and move like a 4 cylinder. I support the sleeper cruiser idea 😂😂
Kinda sounds like that Africa Twin was maybe in rain mode or user mode with the power turned down although no it’s definitely not as fast as a Pan America. I have a DCT CMX1100(‘Rebel’ lol) with more or less the same engine and it hauls the mail in regular drive mode or especially in sport mode and is an absolute riot to accelerate fast on.
I recently got a Honda Transalp 750. It's a lot of fun!
I love the Africa twin!! But I am a dad…. Insert Jordan’s instead of the new balance lol
Dude! YOU ARE MY HERO!!! Meatball On A Toothpick…
Need to set Africa Twin transmission into Sport mode (S1,S2, S3) rather than Drive…
and yes, I’m a dad in Brooks running shoes, but I love my AT!
I’ll give that a whirl next time im on one :)
Keep up the good work on the bikes always a good day when I see a new video
Anyone ever told you the “Dictionary” definition of a Shadow? 🤔
It’s the Pale imitation of the Real Thing. 😄😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
The new Buell Super Cruiser looks like it’s gonna be bad ass. I’ve watched a couple videos of it with guys riding the prototype and it wheelies and does crazy burnouts right out of the box
My only gripe about the new Buell is the motor looks very Goofy.Other than, it's Ausome!!!!
The $100k price tag is the hardest part to swallow 😂
@@oso_nomada huh it’s 25k new
@@easyfromtnbtw3555 yeah, noooooo one is getting one for MSRP for a long time.
I personally found the dct redundant for the africa twin 1000, with as much torque as it makes across its wide power band.
Around town I barely felt the need to shift much at all. Stoplight to stoplight you’ll go from neutral to third if you’re lucky. Crawling between traffic in first. Shifting isn’t a hassle on the highway. You only use the clutch when stopping or moving from a standstill. It’s hard to stall.
Imagine if Yamaha threw their CP4 engine from the R1 into a cruiser chassis... hooo wee! I'm not much of a cruiser guy but man I'd be so excited for that! Baby V8 sounds in a cruiser chassis would be mind blowing
Good bike for long tall Ellie Agree on the clutch
I was looking at that Africa twin today. In town from Indiana and really liked it
Like so many folks who have no clue about the AT settings, You gotta flip it into sport modes and turn off the wheelie control. Highly recommended you research the AT before riding it again.
As a former owner of an africa twin, I loved it on and off the road. But I sold it for a ktm 890r, and it's wheelies ahead.
I have the 2021 crf1100 Africa twin adventure sports with the dct gearbox and the es electronic suspension yoshimera slip on exhaust, it’s an absolute unit of a bike , it gets a lot of attention everywhere
I ALMOST scooped up an Africa Twin but then I road a BMW S1000XR, fell in love, and ran off with her before her Dad could catch us!
I think they’re fun to ride once a while, but I can’t own one too many Temptations. I love the feeling of power and speed death wish for me.
the FZ1 had the R1 motor in it and you were fully upright on that bike
My daily is a shadow 750 ace chain drive with a jet kit and other duedads to help it move along better, the bike will cruse at 85 no problem even with the wife on the back. Never has left me stranded just oil changes amazing cheap fun
My first motorcycle was a Honda XR-75. They made a customer for life. Honda mower, car, motorcycle, pressure washer.
Lol that's the first bike I crashed
I'm 100% with You Josh. I want thr full meal deal Superbike engine (and the brakes and at least SOME of the handling..) in a sleazy cruiser stance. The Buell Supercruiser looks promissing IF Buell doesn't shit the bed and unalive themselves again..
Hold Drive a second time for sport mode. The DCT is very clunky and shifts way to low in normal mode.
I think there's sport 1-2-3, and then a custom user mode.
I almost dropped my roommates a few times the other weekend trying to get used to it and accidentally hitting the throttle at inopportune times (i.e. at a stop).
🏍
I’m sure I’m not the only one. You gotta put the AT in sport! Or manual mode!
Howdy STS,
Thanks
COOP
...
Nice video again. My experience with the Africa Twin DCT was the same. It felt kinda boring. The new transalp 750 is actually more fun to ride in my experience.
I wanna get my hands on one of those Africa Twins
I have 2 Shadows. Plus I sold another one a few years back. They just run nonstop. I honestly don’t even think you really need to change the oil all that much.
Ill be living in fl for like 6 months next year and i plan to go to berts to buy my first bike
God, I’d love a cruiser with a sports bike engine. For years, I’ve wanted to Bonneville America or the Daytona speed. Triple it be a hell of a nice bike. But a Honda rebel RR would be pretty freaking awesome too. That would be bad ass.
Hey Josh, you should really try the yamaha MT-01, but not the new one, the one from 2006, i promise you, you will fall love with it.
Japanese power cruiser, big cubes Josh, you forgot 200hp Gen2 v4 Vmax 😎 agree Rocket too is insane and new Diavel V4 😎
Thanks!!!!
I only ride my AT on the road to get to the dirt. 😅
Watching the CBR section. I think you should ride a Tunono (if you haven't already). Might hit the almost cruiser with insane power/revs.
Im in Panama City but next time Im looking for a bike I will check out Bert's....
They’re good people!
Josh, how can I send you some stickers?
Love that you mention the key vs fob angle, that's a deal breaker with many bikes as far as I'm concerned.
Sad you didn’t put the twin in sports 2 or 3 mode. It’s literally a whole different bike in those modes. Like going from a tractor to a Ferrari.
Absolutely love my 94 Magna. Wish they would bring it back.
You might be on to something. Sounds like a good idea for a new style of chopper. Put that 1000cc motor into a cruiser frame.
Honda shadow was my first bike. I owned it for 12 years and 80 thousand trouble free miles. Sold it to an older gentleman who has put almost 40k miles on it with no major issues. That is a fool proof engine. After a nuclear fallout only cockroaches and shadows would remain on the face of the earth.
I’m really surprised the magna is still there. Those are great bikes. Fury is a great looking bike. I don’t know anybody’s ever owned one. It feels a bit awkward for me when I sat on one, but I’ve never read one. Shadows are excellent Bikes I like seeing them turned into choppers and bobber like they’ve been doing lately now that the CB 750s are running a bit dry.
I'm a sportbike boi at heart but maaan I'd have to take a REAL hard look at a Rebel Fireblade
These videos are fun.
Man, if I had some money I'd hit up Burt's lol. Nasty motorcycle wreck back in 2019, got ran off the road, left me permanently disabled. Finally got back on a bike this year, and currently rebuilding an old 95 Road King roller I got. Hopefully in a month or 2 I'll finally hear it run
Glad you’re still with us, lemme know when that thing is making motorcycle sounds
@@shadetreesurgeon definitely will do. Hope to ride it down for a campout eventually
Same for buying a Harley Davidson.
Go to a Honda dealership.
Add one more check fluid to that Shadow, the coolant tank.
I totally agree...bring back the Magna!
My first 1983 Honda Shadow 500. Mint condition.
love this bike, but I no longer can handle the riding position.
Good one on you not complaining about riding position.
Love your content. When are you going to put these jokes into a book? Due to having balance issues, I am looking at a Spyder, not set on the version yet, or a trike. Need shifter on the handle bars with an auto clutch. Again, due to wearing a brace that makes my left foot static and club like.
I love my 1100 shadow. Kinda pissed at it right now because my stator wires melted but I knew it would happen sometime
Pretty easy fix.
I met a guy who lost his left arm riding a DCT honda. They still make a manual version- it's not no fun its more for assisting people getting on 2 wheels imo. ✌️
My first bike was a V65 magna when I was 16 back in the 96. Nobody knew what a beginner bike was back then. I bought it for 1000 bucks from a guy getting deployed. I really wish I still had it. It would be cool if Honda brought the magna back.
I really like ADV bikes especially the triumph tiger, unfortunately I'm 5'6" so it's not meant to be 😂
That trailer needs to be Brapstar-fied. 😎
Lol
Notice the lemon drop Fury is still on the lot. Big surprise. 😂
I ride a 1100 shadow sabre, I wouldn’t think twice to ride anywhere.
I would be willing to think about a monthly commitment for a new magna too.
You got to take it on the twisties to appreciate it 😉
Im one of those ppl. 07 shadow aero. I wished I coulda kept it but had to trade her in for a 16 Indian Springfield.
Africa Twins are gteat bikes, any Dentist would be glad to own one. 😊
Well….If you’re looking for off-road positives for a DCT, it’s impossible to stall. Stalling and falling over is a thing on the trail.
Fair point!
@@shadetreesurgeon
Funny thought. The automatic is also really good at 180 trail turns especially dismounted from the right side of the bike it would be easier than a lever. You know, spinning the wheel from a stop with the bars is a lock to go back the way you came on a single track.
So the DCT is the adventure bike most suited for the somewhat adventurous rider who often finds himself saying “I am not going that way! No sir!”
How wired would a Honda 1300 ST Motoguzzi style Honda motor super cruiser be? Do they even make that motor anymore?
Sadly my local HD dealers all have a relationship with the local RideNow, so all of the non-HD stuff never shows up at the HD dealers. RideNow doesn't allow test rides at all, so it's kind of a lose-lose for the local buyer.
Really their name is ride now? But you literally can't ride it now?
@@digitus78 If you sign the line, they'll let you ride it now, but not before they have a contract.
Africa Twin front look like a Anime Robot Helmet 😂
what if you was to get a cbr engine from a wrecked bike and built a chopper frame around it?...just a thought 😁. good vid
Detuned for torque is my CTX 1300. Honda took their wonderful ST and neutered it. Sure, its torque is lower, but I want to hear that v4 sing at higher rpm’s. Alas, my weird spaceship of a bike won’t ever reach the same heights as its cousin
I had the Shadow 1100. Great bike.
I had a 1997 shadow 1100 also. I paid 1500$ for it. Rode it for literally 900miles
And I gave it away to my buddy so he could upgrade from a scooter
I hated the style of the bike. Slower than molasses too
I had an older 1100 4 speed shadow. Comfortable reliable and slow. Of the older metric cruisers i found the 1100 viragos to be the most fun.
The DCT on that africa twin has a few "drive modes"...if you had it in D, and not S3 then you did yourself a disservice. In S3, you can toast a lot of bikes because you have constant shifting and acceleration without having to clutch
My choice at this point is Appa or the v65 hands down
hey mate a Kilometer is well it's a math term Kilo meaning 1000 means there is 1000 meters in a Kilometere wich is about 0.6 of a mile anyway hope this helps.
I rode a first fen Africa twin. The traction control is terribly intrusive. It cause me to almost wreck the bike. Then the owner said he had the same issue I had and almost wrecked himself.
That Honda twin front looks like a stoned inframan!!!
Enjoying all your vids. I can say because of you and other motorcycle content creators. I am thoroughly enjoying motorcycling again. I switched bikes from a 84 wing to a 86 venture. Keep up the great work with forgotten Angels
Love to hear that you’re back into lovin it my man!
Praise be to the Honda Shadow Aero!
👋👋👋👋
The cheapest place in the best place to buy any motorcycle if you're not buying a factory fresh dealership bike is to go around to yard sales garage sales flea markets and bike shows and when people gather up for bikes poker runs and things of that nature and you start sniffing around you start talking to people you'll find more good deals than you can pay for especially when it's a car show and they also include the bikes bring a car a trailer 5000 bucks 10,000 bucks whatever you have bring somebody with you so you don't get ripped off get the bike the keys and the title and don't forget your bill of sale and know who you're buying the bike from and you will get yourself your deal you will save thousands of dollars and also Target what you want don't buy random you want a Honda go for a Honda and wait till you get it you want to to buy a Triumph wait till you get the right Triumph don't buy something else you'll never be happy
I like my Tiger 800!
I want to see Shadetree on a track.
Bro I love your show man you are f****** hilarious
... started a chain of events... 😂
Cowboys stay in the saddle a little bit longer 🤠🤠
You had the Africa Twin in "Drive Mode D". If you hold the trans button down and notice the D changes to S. There's 3 sport modes for the DCT. In "S3", it will be much more fun, and you can definitely wheelie it.
First and current bike is a shadow spirit. Any shadow is a shaft drive now. The aftermarket isn't plentiful but it's there. Not plentiful for the cruisers anyway. And now that the only cruisers Honda makes are the various shadow and rebel models, dealer and mechanic support should be good to go as well. It's been a fun first bike but after 4 years, I'm definitely ready to upgrade
I love my Shadow Phantom, but I would NOT want to tour on it.
My first comment in your channel! The Shadow, oh, the Shadow. You nailed it. It's the hammer, the chisel and the indestructible wall you sometimes come across. I was the proud owner of a burgundy beast and I'm in conversations to get it back, that much I miss her.
Great channel this one of yours - and great mates, too -!. Cheers from Sunny Spain! 🤘
Josh, that Afican Twin makes you look short
Wow that’s weird my name is Josh and my first bike was a 2003 Gsxr 750 yellow and charcoal though. C’monnnnnnnn
3:09 it’s a Gundam!
I actually dig the idea of having a cruiser with a 1000 cc I4 engine. But hear me out, if Honda doesn't do it, with all the great mechanics and CZcamsrs out there, why not built one ourselves? 😏
