The way the first creature dies. Seemingly unfazed and then collapsing out of nowhere is so real. The adrenaline still rushing through its body doing everything to survive. It gets more aggressive giving all its power. You can just feel the desperation for survival simply in the way it moves and behaves.
Yeah, there's nothing something real about how it doesn't just fall over immediately after you get the last hit like a normal video game boss would do. Instead it's almost anticlimatic, a whimper.
Uh huh, or the AI is just repositioning itself into an open area before dying to allow the full animation to play without clipping into the structures. Whichever.

I think in the ending, he was not supposed to take his "old" body with him. Since consciousness had been transferred into a new body, that "new body" was supposed to be the one taking the main character's consciousness to the "Portal". In the end, the "Brain string" detached and his consciousness was taken to his old weak body. Instead his old body was supposed to be left behind in the old desolate world just like everyone's else body in the polis.
Edit : And why do they wanna travel to the "portal"? It's because their current world were infected and infested with dangerous parasites.
Well as you can tell, the world looks like pure hell, and the portal is said to be like a portal to a different consciousness, similer to the matrix. Ive never actually played the game and just went off a documentary of the game so dont take my word for it
I have a different idea. The "energy that melts everything through the portal" is the afterlife, the place where living beings burn and are "released". But, the parasite is also a predator, part of the corrupt, fleshy living world. In some way, the parasite is like an Amoeba that feeds on other cells, and all the material is assimilated. The female and male creatures are the peak of their technology, a mean for a higher end. In the world of Scorn, pain is not relevant, but being "released" is the biggest achievement.
the portal is just to ascend to a higher level of being by joining the collective consciousness. the character you play as was desperately trying to save himself in the end by doing the ritual and traveling through the portal. there’s a hierarchy to all the beings in the scorn world. the ones that come out of the red eggs are the most important ones, but all the different creatures have their own part to play.

Thing is he's technically not dead at that point
It was explained that pain is a door to entering a different consciousness. That’s why he continuously stabs the body.
The body is still alive, it was trying to swat away the parasite after the consciousness didn’t make it past the gate.
At some point the body doesn’t feel as much pain anymore, that’s why it’s consciousness returned back to the body and didn’t make it through the gate.
Also, the body isn’t dead. It’s on the brink. That’s why u see the parasite approach the body after it failed to enter through the gates. The parasite latches on to the still living body, becoming one terrifying monster thing.

The ending shows you almost dying but instead not. Just living on and on for eternity or until being freed by someone or someone thing else (killing that giant parasite thing you turned into)
Basically, a fate worse than death.

@@GustiPuurits you start as a person who stumbled into the "hive", as you do, this weird white fluid seeps out and causes your first character to essentially mutate as you attempt to crawl out of that hell hole. Only it turns out you're now a monster.
Enter player main character, who wakes up in this rather gorey flesh cacoon of a prison, trying to make their way through the desolate and abandoned facility of bio-tech, only to get pounced on by the monster that was the first character.
Now latched on to you with no way to get it off, you have to adapt to it as he tries to borrow deeper, and deeper into your flesh and take your body for itself.
At the end, despite the perks the parasite offered, as a tool to navigate through this facility, you manage to finally get rid of it.
As you vainly try to get your body to the portal that is escape a paradise, the parasite scorns you, by latching onto you, and now fusing to your flesh, denying you the escape you desired.

I feel like this game is a very cynical take on human life. We're brought into this cold mechanical world, and must fight our entire lives to search for meaning to the madness. A way to escape the machine. We're all plagued with parasites, and eventually succumb to them and this game demonstrates that perfectly.
Well the "parasites" were actually you, too. In the end it sort of just reunite.

Loved the game. You're essentially an individual born too late to the party; your people have all upped and left to a higher place of existence after ascending in some insane, drug-fuelled, sado-masochistic, bio-organic surgical sex ritual.
You _almost_ join them in paradise, but are denied at the very end by the only other living thing that remains, a mutated parasite that merges with you at the precipice.
It's really quite dark and grim stuff, but right up my alley. Game could've easily been another 50 hours of a walking sim, I'd have enjoyed all of it.

That's the exact story of what happens in my fridge when I turn the power off and leave my apt for a long vacation.
That first boss fight was quite exciting.
After looking up what happened to the civilization, I found my theory of this, based off watching, to be accurate; an alien race crossed with humans and the biological product of this crossbred-creation led to the self-destruction of both contributors to its creation. You guys should check out “All Tomorrows” by C.M. Kösemen; something similar ends up happening to the human race. This game has such a well-thought-out story to be put behind the gameplay.
It could also portray miscarriage during birth, though in HR Giger style.

For me the ending was clear. You're were important, you were just part of everything as everything you encountered. Tried to run from it only to end up just the same. Adapting to the issue made you an even worse version of the surroundings.
