    Thank you for the tour of your home in Bucharest. I am in Sydney, Nova Scotia which is Canada. I completely agree with your comment on the efficiency of cast iron radiators. I live in a restored older home in the city center which was built over one hundred years ago. I did keep these radiators in the upstairs rooms as they keep the space very comfortable during our winters. I look forward to more of your videos

      Hello, Deb and greetings from Romania! I know exactly what you mean. I was raised at my grandmother's place, which is in an apartment building from 1930. My Mom was always very passionate about keeping most of it's elements intact: it has a huge french glasvand door, all the rooms have the original cast iron heaters, the floor tiles are from the time it was built. In my home I have also kept the bathtub which is cast iron as well. Was thinking of painting it at some point but I have to say I am not that happy with the idea - not sure how safe it is. Especially since you then expose it to heat, steam and so on

    Hello! I live in a small space too, but i have created a nice decorated space for me...if the house is yours, or if you are allowed to make changes you can paint it, or you can paint the old stuff in it and it will look like new! you don't have to spend a lot of money or so to buy a lot of stuff, you can create beautiful space with the things you already have, just remodel them!For example you can paint white the bathroom, there are paints for bathroom tiles that are very economic, and it will look like a new bathroom(i am just telling some ideas). You don't have to be rich or have an enormous house to make it look nice for you❣

    • @lifeinromania1688
      @lifeinromania1688  Před 2 lety +1

      You are so right, Mary. I am constantly trying to make very small changes that will improve the way the apartment looks. The number one thing I have been doing for the past year has been constant decluttering and getting rid or things that I do not use (clothes, papers, miscellaneous etc). I have also just found a closet door at Ikea (Grimo), with a huge discount (it was around 6$), which I am hoping to use as a headboard to help cover up the deteriorated part of the wall as well as prevent further damage. I am considering painting the bathroom although a fresh start would be better for it as the walls are a bit swollen and crooked.

    • @greekwoman18
      @greekwoman18 Před 2 lety

      @@lifeinromania1688 yes, that is a very good idea! You can also paint old furniture so you do not need to buy new ones! I have done it to my apartment and they looked amazing! So if you have any old furniture somewhere, you can buy sandpaper to rub them and then paint them with a colour you like. Its a fun process and also renew your space with the minimum cost!

Only in the past few years, because the city piping system is very old and they are trying to fix it, there are neighborhoods that go through long periods of time with no hot water or heat. Which is horrible during the winter. My neighborhood went through this last winter and just a little bit this winter. Very difficult and infuriating for everyone. Not to mention the electric bill goes through the roof because we have to use heaters etc.

The House of People is the second largest buildind in the world.. After the 89 revolution those apartaments were sold to average people.. Now most are rent for tourists... And in the north area next to Herăstrău Park. Bigger in square, more rooms, western concept like kitchen island, but also more expensive.. You have also duplex and penthouses.. I am not sure how much it would cost to buy a place here but looking on real estate websites, people seem to be asking around 60,000 euros. But this is not a typical price for a studio in Bucharest (they're usually lower). This area is a bit more atypical. Yes, a lot of Romanian kids are taught English in school and most of us know how to speak English. If you ever visit Bucharest you would be able to communicate with almost everyone here. Hey, Yannick. Thank you for taking the time to share this with me. I actually use the diffuser quite rarely and use around 2-3 drops of food grade (can be ingested) essential oils for the entire diffuser. I always thought this would be safe for humans and pets alike.

      Hello! So nice to hear you have been here. Yes, Bucharest does have quite a lot of issues though I am using my videos to try and get myself to focus on the good side of the city. The dog situation has been managed (in a horrible manner) but there are no more dogs on the streets. Yes, the city is a very interesting architectural mix, with some soviet influences that makes it resemble parts of Russia and Bulgaria. p.s. about the mask, unfortunately it has been mandatory. Trust me, I m not the biggest fan. Especially since tons and tons of people around me are getting infected, even with wearing masks and vaccinations and so on. I have 10 friends and family members who got covid in the past few weeks. Myself included. Fortunately everyone is ok.

      There are no more dogs or gangs on the street since more than 10 years I think 🤔
      The dogs…. Hmmm let’s just say that they been killed by the city hall because they been to incompetent to find a different solution.
      And the kids gangs I guess mostly was about the homeless gypsy kids that now they grow up and they go abroad to the west for a better life.
      Bucharest has improved a lot last 10 years, but of course there are still issues mainly the horrible traffic (every Romanian and his dog have a car 🤣) and the overall infrastructure for pedestrians and bicycles.

    Wow, so houses and villas were torn down for a bunch of these complexes with puny apartments. Communism sucks. I have 2,200 square feet. I worked for it and pay for it. I would hate for my government to take it from me.

    • @lifeinromania1688
      @lifeinromania1688  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey, Donna! Unfortunately, yes. During those times they built a lot, a lot of factories and brought in people from smaller cities and rural areas to work in them. And in order to accomodate those people, they tore down houses and villas to built these complexes. Fortunately, I actually live in an area that has pretty large studios and apartments and that also has plenty of quieter streets with charming houses.

      @@lifeinromania1688 : oh please. De ce aceasta tendință de a exagera ? Situația caselor in Bucuresti era dezastruoasa. @@cameliap1146 Interesant ca asta s-a inteles. Am scris "houses and villas'. Nu vile de lux. Recunosc ca nu am asistat la daramarea lor, stiu doar din povestiri. Iar in clip faceam referire la zona in care stau eu, unde nu erau doar case intr-o rana. SI nu am zis nicio secunda ca este rau ca au fost daramate. Chiar iubesc blocul in care stau. Poate doar estetic, vizual, prefer sa fie un echilibru tip case + blocuri in detrimentul cartierelor care au exclusiv blocuri. Dar asta este doar gustul meu :)

Reiterez.
