Here in Italy it is said that he never wanted to go to a team too far away, not to be far from his family.
I don't know where his family lives but he grew up in Rome and got married in Verona, he even played in Trieste. There are many Serie A teams in northern part of Italy.

Around 2010 I was in Italy as an Erasmus student ,at that time I was at top of my form running 15 km every day . The 5x5 football pitch was like 2 min from my apartment so many Italian guys were calling me to play for their team. Almost every day I was playing a 5x5 football match at least. I wasn't very good to score many goals but had great passing ability and was running a lot and most of the times I was the faster on the pitch.
One summer afternoon I was on that pitch preparing to play and a guy brings one of his friends. Before the game starts in the warm-up everyone was watching that new guy .At that time I didn't speak almost any Italian and the Italians were talking to me in broken English mixed with Italian. I said to one guy wow he is really good ,and he told me that (the new guy) was voted last year the best player in Serie B.Then before the game starts he introduced himself to me .Ciao sono Davide !!! That guy was with long beard and a bun.
The game starts, and he was on the opposing team he starts quietly but after like 5 mins he scored like 2 goals .Thats it I saw that as a challenge and I would have him man-to man for the rest of the game I decided.
So I had him on manto man ,I was in his back in the centre of the field with my hands touching his back he gets the ball on his feet ,with one touch he passes the ball above his head and mine he runs towards the gk ,the gk exits and I am running behind him ,he lobs the gk in the penalty area and running to score an easy goal before the ball gets out of the field ,I am running full speed behind him . Just before the ball gets out and i am about to intervene a corner with one touch he lobs me to the inside of the field ,somehow I don;t fall even with that speed and follow again the ball ,the ball still in the air with no gk , he could score an easy goal,but as I follow him back he lobs me again and shoots he hits the crossbar and then goal from a difficult angle .I was in awe !!!!I have never seen anything like this on a 5x5 football field .I was like what just happened ??? No one has done such a move when I was defending him. and all these happen in like 5 sec 4 lobs 3 on me and one on the gk .
The game ended I don't remember the score, probably we lost .After a month or so I went back to my country still thinking about that incident after a while I started searching best Italian players in Serie B/C ,beard etc and found the legend of Davide Moscardelli.
To this day I am 90% sure he was that player on that field that afternoon. He was really special, can't be anyone else!!!

He lobed me 5 times in 29 seconds and then decided to hit the bar of an open goal. The ball rushes and hits my teeth out, then back to him. This time round, he scores with a no look header as if he is meditating....
Brother, I woke up immediately, just to find out that I may have bit my tongue while sleeping. I have also stopped using alcohol since that experience 😂😂😂.
The whole story is 100% true, we were in the center of the field I was the last defender he gets a pass on his feet ,with one touch he passes the ball above me , he then near the penalty area he lobs the gk and the ball has a projection to go out he runs and also me behind him, am I am about to intervene a corner he touches the ball above me to the inside of the field ,I touch the left post and turn quickly in the inside ,the ball stills in the air he lobs me again to the outside and he is far left on the field like 160-170 degrees from the left post he shoots in the air and hits the crossbar and then scores.

Moscardelli was one of the first viral memes that spread out in the early 2010s on the italian internet. First time i saw him play was when he was playing in Serie B in Rimini. He was a great player for Serie C and B and he had enough talent to get in Serie A in his thirties and that's a great accomplishment for a "province superstar". What made him viral on social media in 2011-12-13 was his beard and haircut paired with his capacity of scoring a couple of attractive goals in serie A.

A retired football coach was once my neighbor and he used to tell about this player called Pasi Nevanperä who was "the most talented guy Finnish football has ever seen, but unfortunately also the laziest". The guy was absolutely natural with the ball, but he only wanted to score goals and lots of them and didn't care how low a tier it happened on. He had no ambition to put in the work and effort to become the best he could be. That meant that ever since his youth years, he just took a step down in the league pyramid whenever he wasn't scoring enough goals anymore. He holds the record in goals scored on Finnish third tier during one season to this day, together with Joel Pohjanpalo. If I'm not mistaken, he still plays somewhere despite being close to if not over 50 years of age already. And you have to respect that. He loves the beautiful game for what it is, not for money or fame.
You should try looking into Jose Luis "Garrafa" Sánchez. He was an argentinian lower league fiend, even when playing against the National team on a friendly, the likes of Gallardo, Simeone and Zanetti couldn't stop him, amazing story! recommended

In my early twenties I played a 7 a side match with a 40 year old Iranian (I think) guy who had played in the 5th tier of portugeuse football. He was insane. It blows my mind to think how good players in the top leagues must be. They make it look so easy. And even players you think are terrible would probably be insane if you played against them.

In Spain we have "Pablo Infante". Some insights: after numerous media interviews in Spain, it emerged that Infante spent years refusing offers from club in higher divisions due to his work as director of a bank branch, located 50 kilometers from Mirandés' facilities. He was a graduate in Business Administration from the University of Burgos, and played the vast majority of his career in teams in the Province of Burgos. He single-handedly led third division teams to Spain's cup semi-finals.
You can find some of his highlights on CZcams. Take into account he was playing in low tier divisions and just decided to play at 2nd division when he promoted his really small and unknown team -for that time. So footage is rare and late footage is when he was already "old" -to say, speaking about football.
He looks like Dado Prso, his hairstyle was almost the same and that reminds me. Prso backstory is a great one. Man didnt make it in his hometown of Zadar/Croatia, and then he makes it in France with part time job and part time playing football. Amazing player.

Rispetto per Moscardelli, grande uomo, prima di essere un grande giocatore. Chi capisce qualcosa di calcio ed ha giocato a certi livelli, o avrebbe potuto giocare a certi livelli, solo che a volte ci sono scelte di vita che vanno al di là del denaro. Poi c'è chi è stato fermato dalla burocrazia sportiva: in Italia a livello giovanile ti facevano firmare il " cartellino a vita" questa pratica ha rovinato la carriera di molti giovani talenti ( compreso il sottoscritto, senza falsa modestia) . Diventava un ricatto, dove alla fine la squadra doveva avere un'ottima offerta economica, altrimenti dovevi riscattare il cartellino economicamente; altrimenti per 2 anni non potevi essere tesserato per altre squadre ( se ricordo bene, erano gli anni 80/90) . Sarebbe interessante fare una ricerca su questo " cartellino a vita" perché realmente ha rovinato tanti giovani talenti italiani. Buona vita a tutti.

As someone who pursued the football player career as a mid teen there are talented players that nobody will ever see because of injuries. Saw many end their careers after terrible injuries. The great players we see are the skilled ones with luck or good genetics to endure.
There's also the luck of getting a good coach who doesnt arbitrarily try to aggravate injuries or force games out of hurt players to get better personal results so their own career can advance.
I met a guy who can dribble the whole team if he wants, I dare say even more impressive than Messi himself, im not joking, he can shoot accurately anywhere with power from half field, even showed us how he can do what ronaldinho did with the bars and back several times without the ball falls, it's to the point where he was banned from joining any team locally because it's just unfair, but he just won't play professionally because he wants simple and discreet life. He was scouted by several big clubs internationally but he said no. He's 33 now.

He was born in Rosario, like Messi, and it is said to be one of the most talented players ever here, which is a lot to say from a place where Distefano, Maradona and Messi were born. Great video, Robin Friday was an English player who had it all but never rose above the 3rd division playing for Reading and Cardiff City in a career that spanned only 4 years, he is often referred to as "The Greatest player You never saw",, I was reading that a Hollywood movie about him is definitely on the cards, I feel certain that there are similar stories out there from times gone by but it would be very difficult to fins stories like these now as football has become in many respects more of a business than ever which is to the detriment of game in my humble opinion.

I was in Italy when he played through his career I remember him very well. he was never treated like a great player. He was treated like a division 2 player or a low class player. the Italians don't consider him to be anything they don't even appreciate him. He also didn't help himself he should have gone to another country to play like the English league or even that Russia league deal was good. he saw himself as Italian but the Italians never saw him as Italian else they would have called him in the national team. or in the Italian under 2023. And him refusing to play for Belgium was his biggest mistake he did to himself. Belgium is a great national team. He should love his original country Belgium maybe that is were his star 🌟 is.

My post saying 30m was from memory, the actual amount would have been 20m in 2005.
Even that would be a near 60m player in today's market- not that money has inflated by 3x since 2005. But the amount paid and market value of players has, easily.
And he would have been the most expensive player in England had the transfer been done, so it was certainly going to be up there near the world records for the time.
He turned down moves that were a value of 50k in 1958. At the time the British record was 34.5k.
Just to further make the point how the MARKET has inflated more than the currency, that's just under 1m in today's money.

Maradona went for almost double the world record in 1982. Does that mean it’s the equivalent to almost £400M today? No.

The guy is outstanding,been watching his physic and his touch of the ball,as a football player you can instantly observe that he had something special,I think he lost himself by his wrong choices.such a lost talent.
A good agent and bonding with a manger like Pioli earlier in his career would probably have lead to him establishing himself in Serie A.
The problem was that italy at the time was worst then today in value how much own player worthed, he arriving from Roma young team and having this down fall in really low tier leagues almost directioned himslef into permanently no light carreer and the players from lower leagues who use to come in serie A at 27/28/30 yo was basically considered just a mid player for mid team becouse if they was better they would have been there much early, which is exactly the same path that happened to Di Natale even if he arrived a bit early and even if everyone in italy knew how world class he was

Reminds me of this uber talented fat guy who knocked around in the football league in England in the early 2000's called Lee Trundle. Obviously there is levels to everything, but he wasn't called the league one Ronaldinho for nothing! Just a really fun player to watch. He's still playing non league today at 46 I believe. My respect for this man
There was this guy on my block when I was little. There were very good players in my area, including myself, we even beat the champions of Pepsi cup and a couple school teams, most of us with potential for profesional players. And there was this guy, that rarely came out to play with us, he was just incredibly above everyone else.
Believe me or not this guy was doing things that I have never seen any professional soccer player do, nor even Ronaldinho. It was just out of this world. Not only that, but he also had massive charisma and social skills. The professional team tecos of Guadalajara tried to sign him for 10 years, he refused and became a doctor. Honestly, the world lost a wonder because of the corruption on Mexican football.
So, I know for a fact there are monsters out there that we will never know about.

That’s a reality for a lot of us. There’s other paths in life but if you have time still give it everything you got💯
I grew up with someone, who had a Croatian backstory. He was a complete footballer, 192 cm, 84 kg, as technical as Zlatan. He was voted the best national youth player of the year, three times in a row. But, he didnt fit in, in the football culture, we have.
He was rejected for the youth national team, cause he had problems with taking "orders". Instead he hoped his dual national citizenship would give him a place in the Croatian national team. So he rejected the national team, in the country he was born in, and hoped he got a call. And he did, at 20, Red Star Belgrade contacted him. They gave him a chance, he was gone for three months. The war torn team, had its eyes renewing the team with Europes biggest unsigned talents.
And i dont know what happened there, ive heard rumours, and he was broken in spirit when he came back and i cant forget the words he uttered;" Im not a good footballer ". He never played for another team, and retired at 21.
We have talent, but, we have to many trainers, who are more interested in breaking a character to fit in their vision.
There was also another player, who actually did play in the youth national team, a defender, but both his knees exploded before he even was 18.
Who was this guy, maybe i can give you better insight. Since all players that I can currently remember don't fit your description.

@@rickard.eriksson Back than we didn't have that many foreigners at the club. Maybe he was on trial, but i doubt that i wouldn't remember that. That season there was only Bobby Dragas on loan from Australia. Only explanation is if the guy you mentioned was sent to youth squad, but that would be too hard to recollect, even for my knowing.
