  • Phil jumps in this recently completed, Le Mans Blue '69 'Survivor Series' and takes us for a spin, hitting the key points of this SPEC chassis equipped classic.
    **Please forgive the squeaky original clutch rod - it was fixed before delivery to the customer.
    What better way to keep this killer, original bodied 1st Gen fresh for another 50+ years than the fully bolt-in SPEC Camaro chassis. Modern driving dynamics, improved safety and handling, all with the original floor and sheet metal intact! A straightforward install also means that your project gets back where it belongs faster: the open road!
    Barron also added a Chevy performance 383 stroker with a 5 speed manual TKX and selected our Forgeline 'RS5' wheels in 18x8" front (5.5” backspace) with a 235/40R18 tire, and 19x11" rears (5.125” backspace) with a 325/30R19 tire.

    My 67 rides amazing after redoing all the factory bushings, shocks, leafs and springs etc. No teeth jarring or harsh ride at all🙌🏾 goes down the freeway like a dream. Been in the family since 75🥰

    in '83- high school - my 69 camaro had a Z-28 emblem but had a 350 4blt. 4spd from a chevy fruit hauling truck 4:11 gears & had 325hp...very fun for a 16yo kid!

    I've been watching and following RS for a couple years now, in the new year i'm hoping a full chassis, irs, ifs for a 69 Mustang with RH drive steering rack can be imported to Australia to get grafted in my car here, certainly get the feeling it's what my 429 BBF and T56 are gonna need.

    It would be important to have a Survivor type chassis like those available for Camaro and Pontiac Trans Am so that the chassis can be installed without having to make modifications to the floor and structure of the '68-'73 Nova.

    Excellent as always. I'm sure it's a dream to drive. But oof! I just can't handle those high-offset front wheels that end up on all these conversions. Just takes away the vintage vibe.
    Is that due to upper/lower a-arm length? Could that be shortened an inch or two to allow a bit more "dish" (I guess lower offset) on a front wheel?

  • @rizzlerazzleuno4733
    @rizzlerazzleuno4733 Před 2 lety

    Too bad the current Camaro does not look this good. Look at all that open space and good visibility in all directions. No design has ever been better than the first generation. Add three point belts, a driver & pax airbag & this is the way to fly. In 20 years it can be converted to electric for even more power. That chassis is almost as beautiful as the body. 👍👍

    • @RoadsterShop
      @RoadsterShop  Před 2 lety +8

      As mentioned in the description, squeak was from the original clutch pedal assembly that came with the car. Since we were only doing the chassis swap on this one, we unfortunately didn't catch it until the test drive. It was remedied before it all headed back to the customer.

    • @scottm2770
      @scottm2770 Před 2 lety

    Are you guys working on AWD chassis? I live in PNW, it’s always rainy and hilly. Would be great to have an AWD. I want a car that I can drive all seasons….
    I’m wishing an AWD chassis for mustang Fastback 65

    • @RoadsterShop
      @RoadsterShop  Před 2 lety

      We get asked about AWD setups quite a lot - the short answer is that it's unlikely to be a production setup due to the extensive parts packaging and engineering that would need to go into it for most platforms. The resulting cost would be extremely prohibitive to most buyers.

    What's average cost of a rolling frame/chassie? I assume one could be made to accommodate tubs?

    • @RoadsterShop
      @RoadsterShop  Před 2 lety

      SPEC is designed to work with the original rear rails, so a mini-tub kit will usually get you to a 345 wide rear - larger sizes you would want to look at our FAST TRACK setup for 1st gens - see both here - roadstershop.com/chassis-and-suspension/vehicles/1967-69-camaro-chassis/

    I have two of them under a pair of '67's, the only way to roll.
    Even with a Morrison front clip and a Ridetech 4 bar in the rear with welded link bars in my '68 Camaro there's still no structural integrity in the vertical axis. A complete 3D designed top of the line chassis like the Roadster Shop makes all the difference in the world.

    I don't know. It doesn't look vintage and looks more resto-mod than anything else. This is the kind of car that ends ends up in those consignment dealer showrooms. It's easy to fix though. Pull off those aftermarket wheels and put on period. You can still advertise modern underpinnings.
