It really sucks to lose your Bourbon. It's always sad when someone has to drop out, especially after having come so far. I hope he can recover and get back on it.

OMG… those were very touching words for your friend Bourbon…. I assure you that he feels the same way. It was a tough but wise decision for him to go home to get treated… his pain was just too much to endure. It was hard to see you go back on the trail by yourself. Bourbon only had good words to say about you, your team and your friendship. I wish you well. Happy trails!

It was tough to move on. I hope he can get back on the trail.

@@JoelHikesTheTrail i can tell you that his plan is to go back soon! His pain has improved a bit at night, but it still wakes him up and he has to get up for a few hours… so he takes a few naps everyday. He’s been on meds only for 3 1/2 days, so we’ll see…. 🤞🤞🤞. Keep well and take care!

@@JoelHikesTheTrail i imagine! And more so because it was so unexpected, he was all set Sunday night, his pack was about 10 pounds lighter, had all his gear ready, but then had no sleep because of the pain…. At one point I wasn’t sure whether he would throw up, or faint or cry, or all of the above! I never saw him in such pain before. I am sorry for both of you…. But life is what it is, we have to accept the good and the bad and keep going… hopefully he will go back soon and you can achieve your goal safely. Who knows, we might meet again soon! Keep well!
