    I’ve been having a hard time as well & can’t seem to get any help to find a solution on roof caps. Looks like I’m going to be left holding the bag on freight charges to send back the 42” Vent hood to distributer. Not counting the roof caps that Blaze recommended but want work with my roof angle (Broan 437 at $150 each). I’m certainly not happy nor would I recommend Blaze since I’ve been left holding a $2300 product that I can’t have installed.

      I was talking to our customer service manager about cap options, today. She said someone called yesterday with the same situation. By chance, was that you? If so, did she have any insight on the matter? She would have more real-world feedback for situations like this.

      @@haasrocks1 I did call yesterday & today. I haven’t gotten a solution for my particular installation. In my installation, roof caps will have to be installed vertical to roofline instead of horizontal to roof line. My heat & air guy is stating there will be a water problem due to roof cap dimensions being so large & not being to properly flash it. 18” x 18” are the roof cap dimensions they told me I could use today. It’s 21 1/4” from center of duct to the center of other duct.

    Thanks for the information. Could you provide the size screws to attache the duct cover and mounting bracket? The hood was delivered without hardware.

    I appreciate this video for the helpful information provided. But I’m having trouble getting information about duct cover options. Everything is model specific. And blaze doesn’t have one? Why?

    • @haasrocks1
      @haasrocks1  Před 2 lety +1

      There are a number of different roof caps that can be used. As long as it’s rated for a minimum of 1,000 CFM, you’re good. You should have one for each motor. We don’t list anything specific because it depends on the size of the ducting, which needs to be a minimum of 8” circumference. Should be hard, smooth pipe, for maximum air flow.

      @@haasrocks1 Hi Jim. I have the same question about duct covers, but not in the roof cap context. I'm curious about the rectangular covers that sit on top of the vent hood and go up the wall like a chimney. Blaze doesn't appear to make them, so it's unclear what is normally done. Do you know if someone makes a compatible duct cover? Or maybe the ducts are meant to be left exposed? Thanks.

    • @haasrocks1
      @haasrocks1  Před 2 lety

      @@serotta09 Hi there. Good question. We get it a lot. The issue with making a “one and done” duct cover is no 2 installs are alike. Duct covers are normally retrofitted and custom made by the installer or contractor.

    Manual does not show where to rough in outlet or hardwire. I’m trying to Rough in romex without opening box and manhandle hood. It would have been nice if manual showed this key detail.

    Do you have a video on how to install Blaze vent hood ? on concrete wall.

  • @2glhudson
    @2glhudson Před 2 lety

    I was told by Blaze to use 2 Broan 437 roof caps for the 42” Blaze vent hood. These roof caps are 21 1/2” wide each. There isn’t room to properly flash these roof caps would end up being as wide as the vent hood. There has to be a better solution. Can you recommend a model# for proper roof caps of 1000 cfm each or a way to combine & use one roof cap?

    • @haasrocks1
      @haasrocks1  Před 2 lety +1

      The Broan roof caps are the ones that consistently come up when I deal with builders, out in the field. I'll do some digging and see what I can find. The fact that the Blaze hoods are the strongest in the industry is also what makes it more difficult to install, in some cases. It has to be ducted and capped properly, or you'll get a back-flow effect. Combining the ducting into one roof cap has proved problematic, in the past, and that's why we require 2 separate pipes, into individual roof caps.

    Can you make a video on how to duct the vent ???

    • @haasrocks1
      @haasrocks1  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for your question.... Unfortunately, I don't have the facility to make a video showing how to duct the vent hood. I can tell you it needs to have a minimum 8" duct for each motor. Each duct must have it's own roof cap that's rated for, at least, 1000 CFM. Must be hard ridged, smooth pipe. No soft AC ducting or 'accordion' pipe. And no hard angles. The air needs to flow as freely as possible. Most of the vent hood issues we see are from improper ducting. Check the manual. Details for ducting start on page 7. www.blazegrills.com/wp-content/uploads/BLZ-42-VHOOD-User-Manual.pdf.

    Hey Jim, just watched your video. I know it’s three years old. I don’t know if you’re still around doing this type of work but I have a blaze 42 is it that the grease troughs front and rear is what holds the other end of the grease baffles. Thank you.

      @haasrocks1  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes, the grease troughs need to in there, otherwise the baffles will fall out and likely damage whatever is under the vent hood. Hope this helps.

    • @haasrocks1

      I believe that one is mounted at just over 6 feet, from the floor to the bottom of the vent hood. Because of the high CFMs it can be mounted higher than most.
