    Most people have zero clue how tough a shot that is across a terrain feature like that. The first shot was a hit but not a 'good' hit. The second sealed the deal thank you very much Mr. Spotter. Well done lads.

      Aaron good for you, these are 1,400 yard guns out of the box. Not many guns can say they can do that. So if you have a shooter hang onto it.

    • @Aaron-mn8gw
      @Aaron-mn8gw Před 4 lety +5

      @@moneyandtimefreedom3352 Many sub $2000 rifles will shoot 1,400 yards with the right glass and cartridge (some need minor stock or trigger work). What it comes down to is the shooter and how often they shoot long range in all weather conditions. Whats more important than the rifle, is accurately applying weather and distance corrections to your scope. If you can't do that every time then you will inevitably miss on your first shot, which is just as easy to do with their $8k rifles. I'd rather use some of the money I saved and get a good range finder, wind meter, gps, and ballistic app.

    The first shot was so obviously way behind the shoulder and behind/high to the vitals. Second shot was much better, but if you’re going to do distance hunting, be good enough to hit it the first time. It could have disappeared and you’d never recover it after a first crap shot like that

    My first goat died in easy terrain, relative to goat country anyway. My second though was in very steep snow covered scree, was hoping he would slide down the mountain because I feared climbing up to where he stood. Oh he slid down alright, and over a cliff, landed hard busting up his jaw and a big gash in the hump of his back, but lucky his horns came through with only scratches. An animal like this deserves a full body mount, to me a well furred billy is awesome.

      Nope, You have to go retrieve it. A lot of times shots are passed because if they do fall you may never retrieve it and if you do the meat is no good and the horns all busted up. This is a once in a lifetime tag takes years to even get drawn so choose your shot wisely.

    Well those shots were terrible and a hunter needs to know when to fold em and wait or get closer both shots were poor. And did not dispatch the animal quickly or humanely. Lots of hubris in the world of shooting these days. But all food in the name of likes and clicks I guess.

    To shoot an animal that close to the edge of a cliff, where it potentially could have fallen and become unrecoverable with those piss poor shot. Looks like you should stop buying rifles, and start shooting moving targets at a range.

  • @gerhardscholtz
    @gerhardscholtz Před 2 lety

    Why shoot the poor animal more than one, purely because you want to be cool and tell the world I killed something at 1000 yards, no dude, stop that. Shoot at a respectable distance and be done.

  • @TheClaybuster1
    @TheClaybuster1 Před 4 lety +3

    Poor hunting ethics . Goes to show that long range isn’t the best practice learn to stalk and by the looks of it learn to shoot

    • @moneyandtimefreedom3352
      @moneyandtimefreedom3352 Před 4 lety +2

      Clay Buster who gets to decide what is long distance? For some 200 yards is a long shot. These guys train and shoot distances much further than this. They also know exactly what the wind and yardage is as well as the foot pounds of energy. Distance is arbitrary so just because your not comfortable with the shot doesn’t mean you get to control what others can or cannot do. The shot they took dispatched the animal it was hit perfectly in the vitals and died quickly.

    • @ScottGostick
      @ScottGostick Před 4 lety +3

      Distance is not at all arbitrary. Bullets have travel time. Animals are not stationary targets that won't move within the time it takes to choose to squeeze, squeeze and deliver a KILL shot. LR hunting is ego driven laziness.

    • @craigmurray5367
      @craigmurray5367 Před 4 lety +3

      Sounds like you f***ed up there, you can't be shooting sheep and goats in places that you cant recover them... if theres a chance they could take 5 steps after you land a shot and they'd be falling down a cliff, thats just terrible judgement... if they fall to the bottom and get all smashed up, thats a waste, and if they fall and get hung up out of reach, thats just aweful... so you turned a goat into buzzard food at best
