You tube is a great place to find lesser known great artists. Also you can surf Spotify for like artists. It’s easier now to find creative new music than ever before. I will say one thing. Don’t be a hipster. Even tho mainstream music is normally bogus don’t disrespect music just because it’s well known. Amy Whinehouse was very famous and one of the best artists I’ve ever heard. The song rehab was played on a local radio station that some of my hipster friends wouldn’t be caught dead listening to. I’ve learned to keep all avenues open. Some people think if it’s well known it isn’t worth listening to. I’ve learned to never close my ears to good creative music. I’m not so interested in whether it’s new or old or mainstream or underground. I just love music that is real has soul and feeling which for me covers a large space. I do realize that most modern mainstream music is a joke but I never eliminate that as a source altogether.

Creativity isn't dead, you just need the right eyes to look for it
It’s not that creativity is dead it’s just that our mainstream is creatively dead. Everything from music to Hollywood the creative level has diminished to the point of nausea. The modern mainstream music is nothing. You have country mixed with rap. It’s just dead. That’s why people say creativity is dead. Like you said you have to know where to find it. There was a time when you could find it on your radio dial. You could turn on the Radio and hear okie from Muskogee. You could turn the dial and hear Break on through by the Doors. All of the performers were themselves. You could tell Jefferson Airplane from any other band. Now it’s all just noise. Anything creative for the most part isn’t appreciated by the mainstream. Did you know that 95 percent of the popular songs today have the same chord progressions. It’s a fatal flaw. People are so used to listening to the same sounds over and over. It’s almost like we are in a trance. Think about movies. Re makes are rampant. The big thing now is to remake old movies but make the Star black. I’m waiting for a black Marshall Dillon. Not that I don’t like black people. I love them but remaking movies like steel magnolias into a black movie doesn’t make sense. Black people probably don’t like the original. Maybe they want to create their own heroes. I’m rambling. I know the creative people are out there. It’s just like they can’t find representation.

@@anish4868 Innovation can be found in many covers, this one for sure. And I think it is at least as hard to cover a song in your own way as to write an original song. Just because you have to always know how the original song sounds and you have to kind of stay away from that actively.
Rap for me is horrid, i tried to enjoy it but it GENERALLY gravitates around violence, misogynistic views, this is where rape culture abounds, lot of indoctrinating beat with very little music, glorifies low value human traits...of course there are exceptions but are not mainstream .

I love your voice. It is very soulful and iconic. I heard you on a TEDX talk saying that if you gain fame you would want to use that power and voice for "the greater good". I think your voice has more power than you know. You have that power now. Write some songs that will touch others with what you feel, whether it is injustice, poverty, hunger, man's abuse of the natural world, or even just how people should treat each other. You have a voice and you have already enriched my life.

This was great. One of the best female blues songs of all time. I remember Raquel Welch doing this in the sixties and more recently by Collen Duffy, who calls herself "Devil Doll". And rightly so, if you've ever got the chance tn listen to her. But I love this cool laid-back acoustic rendition better than any I've ever heard. Will be looking at more of Phoebe in the future, and hopefully when the lockdowns are over see her on tour.
