Nor sure where I first learned this as I have sung in choirs in both the Methodist and Anglican churches, But the Wesley brothers were indeed Methodists, so very likely learned in the Methodist chapel where I first started singing these beautiful hymns and anthems. I'm singing and praying this now, at the other end of my life, feeling overwhelmed at times by the extremely difficult times the U.S.A, is going through now. Please say (or sing) a prayer for us.
This is a gorgeous arrangement of Samuel Wesley’s well-known anthem. I love the harmonies and the key changes between verses. I also love the beautiful organ registrations.
I love this hymn. It is my prayer almost everyday. I am a truck driver and am always praying to be kept safe and to stay righteous in my life.
