It's 2024 and I've finally found this game that I last saw in my local video rental store back in 1990. Never played it, I was too scared to play arcade games when I was a kid, but I used to stand and watch others play. This was a nice little nostalgia hit. Wow, the running and jumping animations still look good today.

JohnSTF72 - I’m guessing they meant it as a cliffhanger to say he was captured for either to work for an agency or be used as a human battery once more. Of course, to say it wasn’t portrayed very well is an understatement.
Beautiful memories associated with this game, it was the most difficult game of the era of 1980s, rather a best one and modern game of that time, beautiful concept with so beautiful art work and walls throughout the game, it really needs a daring player to escape a bunch of enemies all around, loved it, and the music
Great memories. Played this at the Skating rink all the time. I do believe that the arcade had a reverse button that when pushed the character would turn around and run backward so you could face your enemy approaching from the rear.

I own this game. It is really one of the finest, most creative and fun games ever. What this player does is amazing, almost like AI level. Thanks for the wild ride, I have not been able it finish it for a while (growing up sucks).
What is it with Data East games and flails? It's a recurring weapon that seems out of place when most of the game features guns and shooting. Not complaining too loud, though--usually flails are good weapons to have.
Did you know that you can have the character facing backwards by pressing a separate button? There are many times one should face backwards to kill the monsters rather than doing a risky somersault. Also the way you fight the "skeleton bird" (whatever it's called) @18:44 is bit too risky & more of luck than anything. You could just stand still, press the attack button and jump button at the same time, the bird will swoop down on you while you're jumping and you're safe until the bird is killed
Yeah i know iv got the megadrive original i looked at this vid to compare it to the megadrive one. i meant that when i made the comment.btw there really is a huge difference between them graphically and musically.

26:59 Chelnov is fighting some kind of sword-wielding Xenomorph type monster in front of the Statue of Liberty. That's a pretty badass scene.
Never thought I'd see the day where the Genesis version looked WAY better than the original arcade
It seems to be a thing with Data East games at the time. Midnight Resistance, at least audio visually, is much better on Genesis.
Two Crude Dudes didn't look better perse, but it ran much smoother on the Genesis than it did in the arcades.
But it's only the looks. The mechanics are way worse in genesis.

I read somewhere, at the end, we see a helicopter chasing Chelnov and we hear the "death" sound of Chelnov. That likely meant Chelnov died.

Games were a lot more interesting back then. Less consistently good, but much more varied.
The Arcade Chelnov and Mega Drive have different configurations and will not be able to connect to the end.

I owned that game, I loved it, loved the graphics, but it just wasn't quite the arcade with its sound. The jumping statue boss was well done.
Yet another somewhat successful enough attempt at a Superhero made by the USSR. LOVE IT!!!!

only time I recal SCHLAUCHI turning Chelnov around was against a few bosses, Otherwise he/she did a straight left to right run. WOW what a challenge.

I think the challenge was not to use the turn button. only used sparingly against those ornate statue bosses.
