Jazz Ensemble Library - Grade 4
Hailed as one of the greatest hard rock songs of all time, this 1987 hit from Guns N' Roses features familiar melodies and a relentless drive throughout. Paul's hard-hitting arrangement uses the saxes on the lead and brass on the signature riffs, along with terrific interplay within the ensemble. Rock the stage with this one!

Tbh, this is so jazzy it sounds like it can be in Mario Kart 8 and I love it
way better at 1.25!
best at 2 times speed
Anthony Almodovar Agreed. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? hahaha
i was thinking the exact thing before i saw this comment
yall just don't understand what music is good for why its good
playing it at more than 1 hurts my ears, from both a listener and a musician's standpoint
I just showed this to my director after school today. It was an instant yes. I'm the guitarist and this'll be my first solo in my time in jazz. I'm so pumped
UPDATE!!! The sheets for this just arrived today and we went over it in class. It was funny to see the trumpets struggle but they weren't too bad for sight reading. Everyone thought the song was a good idea. Now I just have to get a solo figured out!
2ND UPDATE!!! We just played this in my schools final concert and I'm actually proud of the solo. Thinking about the solo and performing it is way worse than actually just doing it. Its fun
Harvey Djent Nice! Good luck, man!
We're playing this in my schools jazz band and I've been given the guitar solo to play on the tenor sax, I'm very excited.
Hey, could you pls send me the sheets in priv, i would like that my jazz band play that song too.
pls
Me too, i want a copy of this
Good job!!
"I need more cowbell."
And a more groovy drum set, not that simple pattern
I agree, more cowbell, my band has played it and loved it.
Dude, literally my jazz band teacher said the same thing for one of our jazz band pieces. It was hilarious
I can't for the life of me ever get over this opening.
Ghistus Velstadt same
Ghistus Velstadt i can't either. It's okay lol
Yep, I don't even get it, its so insane
FELT
all too relatable
When a jazz band enters punk rock mode…love this Guns N’ Roses cover!
As a trombonist this is one of the funnest things I've ever played it's a brilliant arrangement and playing it with my school big band was👌🏻
i play baritone vut this song is the sole reason i bought wand learned to play trombone, its so fun
As a trumpet player I love this!!!
Chef Mack Whittier This song is literally hell for trumpet, what are you talking about?
I agree!!! It's soooo much fun to play!
No
yes!!
It might be a little bit exhausting but its still a great arrangement
This is probably the coolest thing ever
i play first trumpet and i sent it to my conductor, love the high stuff. lets pray we get to play it.
Same dude! I just sent it too! Trumpets for life!
What's the results? Did you play it?
as a trumpet player, I LOVE THIS!!!
which part
all of it
But the first trumpet is very heavy i think. our first trumpet loves the song but hates her part :D i play the first trombone and it's absolutly amazing
wao same
Ben Day I’m doing it in jazz band and trumpet 1 is terrible
as a sax and a French horn and this being my favorite band in the world, I'm so in love with this 🔫🌷😍♥
sssssaaaaaaaaammmmmmeeeee. except i only play sax
French horn!!!! Yasss

We just had a concert at my school playing this piece, obviously being the 1st alto sax I enjoyed it. PS I wont let my conductor forget this piece! :)
As a guitarist this song is amazing
The 5/4 bar is my favourite part of the piece, altogether an amazing chart!
even though you have an awkward 2 beat rest for the whole ensemble, it ties up everyone’s part in a way so when you start playing again beat 1 of the next measure the audience can hear the sound of all the instruments at once in sync.
@@dukcy7450 I agree 100%
Those poor trumpet lips
naaah it works pretty fine
@@TutorialsByBrazzor hell no
@BloodyGaming Im with you dude
blitz Dannhoff I’m a trumpet, ain’t played it yet lol
Think about trombone 1 or 2 in some cases
Oh man c'mon this piece just calls for that high G for trumpets somewhere
If you do the optional 8va's you play them
i just did it with my school jazz band. IT WAS SICK M8!
I play sax and I get all the good parts. Happy. I played this before in 6th grade advanced band. It sounds so good with the guitar solo
Another great arrangement from Paul Murtha! Keep them coming!
I am SO EXCITED to play this with my stage band!!!
my fav part in this is the extra beat in the 5/4 measure
The moving part of trumpet 4 is so fun, I'm playing this freshman year and I get to blast it as loud as I can
Playing lead trumpet on this atm, it's a blast.
This physically hurts to play sometimes but dear GOD it’s fun
Great arrangement. I'm so gonna suggest this.
Who is the lead trumpet in the recording?
I feel appreciated as a jazz guitarist listening to this🥹
We once performed that and it was the coolest Song we ever played. i play the flute and have played the high G trumpet Part because it was too high for the trumpets in our school BigBand. But it was so much fun. : )
A.R.M.Y FOX YEAH FLUTE!!
The high register is brutal for brass instruments compared to woodwinds. Rookie flute players often play notes that college level lead trumpets struggle with.
this is probably one of my fav songs on this channel, damn can't wait to be in our schools level 4 band instead of 3
that low a bari part at 79 is AMAZING
Amazing
I love this song!!!! its like one of the greatest songs!!! the jazz and some of the wood strings make a connection and play amazing!!
I play trumpet for over a year now and I'm so proud I can hit these notes properly.
It's hard, but its very nice to play and practice with.
LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
As a (fill in the blank) player I love this
Possibly the best transcription of this song in the history of ever 🔥
omg, this is friggin awesome.. wonder if Axl and the boys have heard this. lol
At my school we've played this and it sounds awesome
amazing
Well done!
This is a definite for all swing bands!!!
Bellissimooooo🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹👏👏👏😊👍
We play the concert band version but this one sounds one hundred times better!
1:21 is my favourite part
So swaggy!
we sight read this today really fun
playing the guitar for this
Very fun marching tune
Got damn this is good
“Do you know where you are?! You’re in the jazz jungle, baby! You’re gonna DIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEE!”
bassbone is the funniest part!: D
Phil Ipp Hell yeah. I’m enjoying it a lot this year.
F*** Yeah. I LOVE IT! \m/
Sickest thing
excelente! (y)
We were gonna play this for our jazz concert but due to covid it never happened. :(
Sou do Brasil, como faço pra adquirir as partituras?
as a trumpet play I'm crying at how good tis sound like how do you even double tongue that fast?!
Casey Arnott I would assume, because the notes are marked with tenutos, that you wouldn't double tounge at all. You could actually just slur between F and its alternate fingering (1&3).
still a banger
Our band plays this sped up and I like it alot
RIP everyone’s fingers on this one.
Thanks to my suggestion my high school jazz band is playing this
I hear a lot of people play this for like jazz concerts but my school band plays it for basketball games😂
oh yeah yeah
This would be so awesome to here stage side at a college basketball game, ...if you see this, and you can do this, DO IT!
I want to play this because I’m a Bari player and for once the Bari gets a lot of melodies
Aidan’s trip reports And more me too bro
Who else was expecting this to be an arrangement of Tash Sultana's 'Welcome to the Jungle'?
Where are my fellow drummers at?
right here
Right here mate
in the corner
@@yazzer4963 ayy im a self taught drummer who's been playing for 13 years! Im 15 now
@@midnightmusic3485 neat
The bass trombone part (4) is soooo fun but I get a bit dizzy with all those pedal Bbs 😅
At the beginning, it sounds like Guile's theme from Street Fighter 2
I played bass trombone on this song in jazz band in 7th and 8th grade and played bass trombone.
i hope i get to play this for jazz band (if i get in)
I have the guitar solo to this 😰
Extreme Headbanging
My band director chose the Rick Stitzel arrangement :(
you can play the chameleon bassline to this
it's too perfect
That cowbell though 😂
May I just say that I am currently playing the bari part to this in three different bands and in the change from 4/4 to 5/4 back to 4/4. In the 5/4 change even in the score it's missing a rest causing my chart and piece to look funny just a little heads up lol
Im playing the bass trombone part in my band.
Matthew Loew I play bari sax as well in this piece
+Jake Sherwood
what do you guys think I play LOL.
+Matthew Loew
You're right, and it's not an uncommon thing. I'm surprised this type of error can still happen with modern notation software. I know this would not happen with Sibelius notation software.
+Tuba Player euphonium! can totally read
2:30 is my fav part
I'm not a band student or director, but I'm enjoying listening to these arrangements! They did a great job adapting this song for jazz band. I have one question, though: this is around 3 1/2 minutes and we get to hear the whole thing--so why did they fade out "Law & Order" at just barely over 2 minutes??? Please, post ALL of these songs IN THEIR ENTIRETY!!!!!!
we’re playing this in jazz band and trumpet one part is cancer
Relatable af
Ok Paul Murtha I see you bro
Is this professionally recorded, or is this an enhanced MIDI mp3? If so, what kind of soundfont was used?
I believe this to be a recording.
This is rec. I think. Just hear the slower Sax-Solo. There is no special articulation except the legato but it sounds very different to all other Sax parts in this audio
That's the way "Welcome to the Jungle" should have sounded like in Fallout games :D
Look up the Richard Cheese version if you haven't heard it before.
This sounds like it should play before something like a real life version of The Running Man or something like that.
What tuning is this for guitar?
Oswaldo Castro standard tuning I think.
could you do "be italian" by fergi in A FLAT MINOR?
The intro sounds like Guile's theme. There's something that they should write up some sheet music for.
YEA LEAD TRUMPET
In what world is a jazz arrangement of this needed?
Every
good song i am playing rock you like a hurricane i got the sax solo :)
Had an opportunity to do it senior year in 2019. Shot down, my little brother under the same director got to do it. I love my brother, but it sounded terrible. Kinda upset about it ngl
Low brass part at the beginning 😭😭
I play the trumpet in this and the beginning is hard..
The main trombone in this song is trombone 2 because it has more melody and it plays louder
put it on 1.5x speed and it REALLY sounds like it should be in mario kart 8
dog petter 😂
What is up with the 5/4? It isn't in the original.
jonesy s Ikr
Matthew LeFebvre I think it fits rather well. In a perverse sort of way. Just throw people off because why not.
Shric Debar Yeah that's true.
Axl Rose et. al. could only count to four.
This might be better than the source material.
just played this for a concert, (we got it the week of) i played the lead part (and in no way a lead player) was a bruh moment, kinda.
Paul Murtha built different mmmh
