@@kaionski1105 mu old commanding officer from Vietnam ended up in the area of the pentagon responsible for awards. During that huge battle in Grenada ( sarcasm ) he turned down dozens of awards for officers who literally never left the states. He said his career was pretty much shot because generals didn’t get the medals/ awards they wanted. So you are correct

We don't need to increase the input standards (recruits), but the output standards (results, successful operations, scalability, lethality, readiness).

I've read it and I believe Force Readiness 2030's goal is to scale back a huge chunk of boondoggles that add nothing to readiness or lethality. I believe the 2 time MOH recipient would be happy with this man as Commandant.
Most impressive! General Smith obviously is a Marine's Marine. No nonsense replies to every question asked. This is what I've always greatly appreciated about United States Marines. When we look at the Corps' general officers and compare them with general and flag officers of the Army, Air Force, and Navy, Marines are virtually always the ones who will give the most direct and most honest, non-sugar coated, replies. (Think of another General Smith, Holland M. Smith, General Alfred M. Gray, and two Generals' Krulak, Victor H. and Charles C.) Semper Fidelis to all Marines! Semper Fi, Marine! My dad was a Navy doctor from WWII into the early 1960''s. I served as a hospital corpsman and was discharged on 10 November 1971. You Marines have been my favorite Americans since well before I was 10 years old. Part of this relates to the fact that every time my family drove onto a naval base, there were always Marine guards at the gates to those bases. And I read H.M. Smith's CORAL & BRASS at an early age. No Marine ever called me any of the nicknames that some sailors called me! I dearly love the USMC. Thank you for your service & Semper Fi! Andy McKane.

I'm a Mil Vet. My son was born Sept 12, 2001. He was Destined to exact revenge for 9-11. He spent years in karate, firearms trained, football, two years ROTC. His Junior year he dropped football and ROTC. I didn't fight hard to even get him to go back into the ROTC at least. I didn't fight hard because of the Moral Cesspool that our Military has become. Now Drag Queens are being used by the Navy to recruit.

Imagine this. Having women on the front lines. Drag Queens in the rack next to you. LGBTQ A-Z being your platoon leader. Women passing Ranger school, passing hell week, ring a hard nosed Marine Raider. This is where our military is headed and in some cases already is. No women ever passed Ranger school, but the army tells you two women did. I would discourage any young man to not go into the military until a Republican president is elected. There needs to be huge changes made.

We have the best equipped and trained military force the world has ever seen. All you have to do is look at the service people who are currently serving on active and reserve duty. The sacrifices they make every day is second to none. I, for one, salute and support our military, across the board.

They keep asking how Marines get Recruiting right when other branches don’t. This is why:
1. We are worked 7 days a week and 14 hour days. 0800 to 2200. I am not exaggerating that. Sundays we work only 8 hours though.
2. A lot of individuals that join us do like the challenge and longer boot camp (nerds trying to become jocks, kids trying prove to themselves they can do it, etc.)
3. We have one of the SMALLER missions! It is easier to make your numbers when you don’t have to recruit as many people as say the Army.
The other branches do as much or even more.

I had the privilege of meeting then MajGen Smith at the 75th Anniversary of the landing of the First Marine Division at Guadalcanal in 2017. I’m an Australian civilian; those Americans who may not know much about the military record of this remarkable man will do well to become familiar with his history within the Corps. I will continue to follow his career with interest.
