Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a long-term condition where the kidneys do not function as they should. This is a common condition often associated with aging.CKD can get worse over time and eventually the kidneys can stop working completely, but this is unusual. Many people with CKD are able to live a long life with the condition.
In the early stages, there are usually no symptoms of kidney disease. It can only be diagnosed if you have a blood or urine test for any other reason and the results show a potential problem with your kidneys. At a more advanced stage, symptoms may include:
✦Fatigue
✦Swollen ankles, legs, or arms
✦Weakness of breath
✦Feeling sick
✦Blood in your urine (urine)
✦If you have persistent or anxiety symptoms that you think may be due to kidney disease, see a GP.
✫✫Chronic Kidney Disease Can be caused by:
✫ High blood pressure
✫ Diabetes
✫ High cholesterol
✫ Kidney infections
✫ Glomerulonephritis

Diabetes and high blood pressure are the most common causes of CKD. If you have diabetes or high blood pressure, the best way to prevent kidney disease is to work with a doctor to control your blood sugar and blood pressure. A healthy lifestyle helps prevent or control diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney disease. Follow these tips to reduce the risk of kidney disease and the problems it causes:
◾️Follow a low-salt, low-fat diet
◾️Exercise at least 30 minutes most days of the week
◾️Get regular check-ups with your doctor
◾️Do not smoke or use tobacco
◾️Limit alcohol
There's no medicine specifically for CKD, but medicine can help control many of the problems that cause the condition and the complications that can happen as a result of it.
