Take a walk on the “Trinidad” imprinted brick-paved city sidewalks dating back to 1910 and discover the beauty of this Southern Colorado town that is constantly reinventing itself.
I would rent before you buy a house. I was living there in the early 1970's. Kind of a weird place. Lots of friction between the blacks, Chicano's and the whites. That was on campus, but it spelled over into the town. I can't say I miss the place, but I would like to visit one more time. Maybe go out to Baldy canyon.
My dad was born there in 1922. His family was prominent business owners. Amazing place. So glad I was able to visit. It really has an old school that was up hill both ways. Wish I had visited before my dad passed and better yet wish I could have visited with my dad.
My mom was from Trinidad, ten brothers & sisters, they grew up in a very small house in a very rural area. Still have cousins out in Colorado too, a nice place I hope I can go back to visit again someday.....
I lived in Trinidad from 1979 to 1981 . I went to TSJC. Since then I have lived in Alabama, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont. I can honestly say I still feel like I want to go back to Trinidad. There is something very special about this place to me. There are the obvious reasons, the weather, the natural beauty of the area and so on. But for me it's something I can't explain. I really miss this area and hopefully I can come back someday.

Thank you for producing this video! It was so enjoyable to learn about the history of Trinadad. I had no idea! My mother worked with Dr. Beiber. Being Spanish and Native American I appreciate the beginning of Trinidad in the making. This was so informative and I enjoyed every aspect of it! I very much enjoyed the video. A great addition would have been the fasinating story of Bat Masterson as town marshal of Trinidad and how when Masterson was marshal he kept Doc Holiday from being arrested for murder in Arizona.
Lived there in '67-68 and as a teen couldn't wait to get away from a small town in the middle of nowhere. I wanted bright lights and the big city. Returned in the early '70s to TSJC and felt differently. I was back there last June and liked it a lot more, on a sentimental journey. But it was somewhat sad and depressing with all the weed shops, businesses I knew that were gone. The only one still there and open was the Safeway.
I am from Alabama and have visited Trinidad.Beautiful town and great people and every time i have left i felt like i was leaving home though i never lived there. Will one day soon though it will be home
Only if you are a pothead. I left after 3 months. I was disappointed. But Trinidad looks like a rundown, whoremongering bordello, now. It is Sad. Panhandlers everywhere, as they refuse to work, but want you to support their drug habit.
What a great documentary about my home town. So exciting what is happening there, and wonderful to see people I knew and loved. Thanks especially to Prof. Limerick, who made me feel proud to be from Trinidad.
Colorado provides some of the best 19th - 20th Centuries examples of Architectural designs, in settings that allow fuller observation. Although several Historical Gems have been torn down in Colorado, the development of Historical Preservation Groups has truly made achievements. There's clearly more in 0laces like NY City, but they arent as easily viewed, nor in a setting that offers the more original perspective. I applaude Colorado for having a more Mature Minded concept and standards for securing History for the future generations.
