One brave young lady at that time period. I'm glad she's still alive. Keep on talking because alot of people helped with the civil rights movement not just a few.

Thanks for this beautiful story. I have studied the boycott for years. Upon reading the story of Ms. Colvin, I was moved. It is my dream that every child on the planet knows of Claudette Colvin, the Browder V Gayle case and the boycott!

The lies that they tell it was Claudette Colvin she is the original that stop the boycott on the buses, not Rosa Parks. They only wanted her because she was light and bright, not dark. What people are not understanding, and I’ve heard this so many times you can still be down with them and be a part of them but you’re just not doing all the things that they do but it’s all tied together. He’s a part of them he’s just not doing the things that they do he still one of them.

Please don't be divisive. Colorism is not needed. Neither Rosa nor Claudette were the first. Ida B. Wells was not even the first. They all refused to move and we should be greatful for them all. There have been a few more whether on buses or trains they all stood for truth and justice.

Two black women who also initially refused. One was pregnant. The NAACP at the time did good, but also knew this America. Black respectability politics has not gone away. It is still an issue today.

Rosa Parks was lightskin and Claudette Covert was brown skin, they didn't want a Brown skin woman leading the bus movement.. Colorism runs deep in ALL cultures because of w.s.

African Americans do have "white privilege" (unearned benefits) compared to some Africans. But it is mis-informed (uneducated) to call it "black" privilege. It is still "white" privilege because the economic benefits are nationwide.
