Nina Hoss's performance in the film and particularly in that iconic final scene when she sings the song, is one of those immortal moments in cinema. I will certainly never forget it or get over it's pure pathos.
This film was such an amazing surprise to me.. Nina's version of this song is heartwrenching once you see the movie you will know why.....wonderful movie, wonderful Nina!! cannot wait to get this when it is available... her hesitation in her singing is very deliberate and magnifies what is happening to her and around her at the end.... great performance..

I love the use of Kurt Weill's music in this. (Not only "Speak Low," as a leitmotiv, but "Berlin im Licht," sung by the cabaret girls at the Phoenix, and the fact that her husband's name is Johnny, which is the rotten dirty dog name given the bounder in "Surabaya Johnny," by Weill.) Probably the best use of music ever in a film.
