15 years since I drove an artic . Covid happened and went back on them last year . After 1 shift it was like I’d never been away . Hated every minute of it and so glad I got my old job back. No more of them and much happier 👍😀
😁😁👍
What was it that you hated so much Steven? I haven’t driven for 25 years and at 55, decided that I wanted out of car sales as it had become too corporate and got fed up having 19 year olds telling me how to do my job! Just renewed my licence and passed my medical, got my tacho card and about to do my cpc!?
kev is a mincer that's why
@@kenwheeler1525 Did you make the change back into it, Ken? I've gone back into it and I'm currently going through getting the various tickets I need.
@@Zooumberg Hi. I didn’t yet. I literally only got my license back last week, after 6 months with the DVLA!! In the meantime, I changed jobs to a new dealership which is much better but, it’s still an idea on the back boiler. Got to do my CPC though. So, you went back and hated it then left? What made you go back a second time!?
The fact Kev that you made reversing those trailers so many time look so simple shows us how skilled you really are at the job. Love the one off change in video, but i will be exited for the next back to normal one!
It's a fluke, I have been driving them for 16 years and it always makes me smile when I reverse into a bay and I manage it in 1 cut happens around once a month 😅 🙃 the rest am like a butcher with all the cuts
“We’re going to try and get it in a bit tighter.”
That’s just absolute filth.
Another great video
Another great video Kev, good to see you back in an artic, nice bit of reversing skills after almost 2 years away! Not sure I’d be so good after no artics for 25years!! MAN seems to pull ok, Be good to see you do this occasionally in the vlog! Keep up the good work and keep safe!
Great vlog Kev, never thought I'd see you in a artic again anytime soon that's for sure!! Glad you had a decent day and that you enjoyed being behind the wheel of one again, it was like you had never been out of one with some of those manoeuvres ;-) Love that Skyline parked outside Trent's yard at 16:55 what a beauty of a car ;-) Hope you & the family are well mate. Take care, keep up the good work & stay safe.
Thanks Kev, another good vlog and agree with others about the reversing. It is just natural for you.
honestly mate its such a pleasure watching you reversing like that, what an absolute pro! such tight confined spaces, it's so cool!
Great video again good to see you with an arctic again .. Stay safe and Healthy ..
My god Kev you class 1 jockeys are at long last starting to be found to be .so important to us all.
Looks like you are going to be treated with a bit more respect for how important you people are and also in the pay packet. Am the son of a truck driver of old , and know how skilled the job is on all fronts.Keep up the good work.👍👍
Hi kev t I've been following your blog for the last 18 months ,now that you work for tents , you look as if you enjoy your job, I live in Poole so I know tents yard ,I was on a bus the other week and I saw you during in the direction of the yard ,that was a surprise, well done Barie
Hats off to you for that blindside mate!
16:45 Interesting to see the 02 reg A-Class and T reg Clio on that dealer forecourt 🤔
Must show how dire the current market is to be retailing them!
thanks for an excellent video. Great to see a different side to the operation and I am sure it was great to be doing something a little different for a change. An all round great video. Looking forward now to seeing you back in the Scania. Take care and stay safe.
Great alternative video, glad you haven't lost your touch
Nice one Kev. Thanks 👍
5:56 Kev's not a fan of girth.
So much fun seeing you back in an arctic getting into tight spots. Ah the old charms, eh Kev?
Hi kev it was nice seeing you in an artic for a change you did well driving it as you have not driven one for a long time hope you will drive one again for a change brilliant video looking forward to the next one
Totally agree with the ride of the newer MAN and the brake retarder system. Funny enough my qualm is the steering wheel it seems to be uncomfortable
Loved this video seeing you back in a artic, nice to see a different side to Tents, and you looked like you enjoyed your self, just like a big kid at Christmas
wow kevTee keep up the good work up mate and that was awsome seeing you drive that artic HGV truck and i wish you was driving artics when you done the job as it was fun seeing you driving them.
Always try a shunt forward, just because you think you have heard the pin engage does not mean that it has. During my time as a Hgv mechanic I have repaired a lot of damage caused by trailers falling down due to this.
Always do a pull test every time without doubt, not quite sure why anyone wouldn't to be honest...
I’ve done 8 months in class one and had it twice it didn’t engage. It really throws you off as you don’t expect it. I will say them 2 times it happened made it worth doing all the other times
16:56 Nice r32 skyline 😍
One place I worked at they would have you in an artic for a couple of days and in a rigid when it suited them. Really messed with my head cos you couldn't settle into either category. Nice to see you back in an artic - brought it all back to me cos I've been retired 5 years.
Hi Kev congratulations on reaching 40,000 subscribers
welcome back kev , its been 8 years since drove Artic , i registered with a agency and did few weeks work from southwest England Devon Nottingham / Leicester areas trunking routes , But with traffic accidents etc not getting parking at services all full on few times , I'm staying in my day job , I miss driving trucks but couldn't do it fulltime anymore Kev , still to stressful and tiring doing 14 / 15 hr shifts . money in southwest hasnt gone up that much from Bridgewater / Bristol starts getting better
Same here Niall. I knocked it on the head 5 years ago. I decided to go back after the wages skyrocketed especially with the agencies etc. After 3 weeks I was reminded me why I left the industry. Getting up at 3am for 4 am starts by the third week they had me out tramping monday to Friday missed the missus and kids all week, I finished that Friday afternoon on my third week went back to my air conditioning service engineers job. Now I don’t get up until 7am and back home at 5 every evening seeing the wife and kids. No mate, they can keep the good wages, it’s no life being a trucker, especially if your married with young kids. Love the job but the hours and conditions are dreadful.
@@matty6848 definitely pal thats reason i left it 8 years ago away from wife and my two girls , its just not worth the stress and been away from valuable time with your family , im same home most evenings 5 or 6pm latest and relaxed working week compare to driving trucks all week and by friday bolloxed
@@matty6848 there was one day matt i started at 6am got back to yard at 8.45pm my wife said to me you must be .mental want do that job .and i agreed and it was mt last shift for agency , miss driving trucks but thats about it
Hi Kev that was a nice change of scenery and truck. Variety is good when you can get some. Have a good week
Loved watching your video, I am retired however the DVLA are asking me to return to driving because of the shortage? can you show a bit more on the technique of coupling and uncoupling as its been a few years since I was driving a curtain sider from UK to Paris & Germany. thank you if you get the chance. Brgds Roger
I gave you a wave on A350 south of Westbury today!.., I was driving a white Iveco pulling a flatbed full of steel! 👍😂
Great vlog Kev glad to see you back in an artic even if it’s only for a day and although it’s not an ovlov it’s still great to see you back driving one and great to see you do the unhitch and rehitch to the second trailer, hope you get a few more days like this but keep it up
Hi kev just catching up with your videos been in hospital for last few months much better now came home yesterday big thumbs up for channel 🤗
Drove the artic at work today for first time in ages since passing my test was shitting myself lol I do like driving them tho .
This was really good to watch nice you get to drive a big Lorry like this again even though I wasn’t subscribed back then but I have watched some of your early videos since subscribing to your channel
Nice MTB analogy I hope it rings true next week as I’m off to wales down some hills on the old shredder next weekend , top video pal
I don't think you've seen me ride a mountain bike after a few months in the shed, I'm terrible at it, but I don't think it's anything to do with the time it's been in the shed, I'm just crap anyway XD
Passed class 1 in 1976, only drove now and again, maybe 2 or 3 times a year, to keep hand in, after driving for about 1 hour would be fine, I never seen them roads pass Trents and the Range down to Bear Cross so empty in the 11 years I have lived in Dorset
2:00 got done speeding there
Solid vid Kev! Love a good 3/4 hour of trucking!
Interesting to see another side of Trents operations. I drive a similar MAN to the one you was in. The adaptive cruise will actually bring you to a stop in slow moving traffic. Very useful at times.
MAN lovely truck I enjoyed driving these.
Great to see you back on artics kev great vlog
Very skilled driver
Looking forward to seeing your scrape car collection again on Sunday evening when it comes out
Excellent work and thanks for sharing this with us take care
Kevin who's the band playing at the start of your video....Great track would love to listen to more of their material 👌
Nice one Kev hope you enjoyed the trip out
I saw the Clockhouse in your intro. Did see the artic go past.
Do you think you may drive artics more in the future? I think it owuld be cool to see on the channel every now and again
Excellent vlog Kevtee. Nice change for you and us. How's Leetee getting along then?
MAN TGX-way to go!
That was a hell of a long day. 4am to 3.30.i wouldn't want to work many days like that. Was it overtime?
11 and a half hours is a short shift for a Hgv driver
Keve on 8:54minutes in the video u should see that black vauxhall Astra Just over take u U should beep ur horn and look in ur mirrors
Do more of the camera view at 32:30 it’s good to see a view of the trailer!
Hi. How do you work out the axle weights on a 4x2 tractor unit?. Axle one is 8000kg and axle 2 is 11,500kg?. Total combination is 31,000.. was does this mean when using a 3 axle trailer? thank you
A tight blindside always makes your lower end pucker. Will you get round or not. I have been retired for over a year and can honestly say I do miss it, even with all the training and regulations, driving time, breaks and of course working time directive. I can see why though they can't get drivers with pay and conditions the way they are and with the DVLA working to rule.
I know exactly where you were in Rugby ...i'm down the road in Coventry.....and was good to meet you at Truckfest
You live in Coventry? Poor you what did you do to deserve that😂
just a walk in the park your a pro thanks kev later well done byee
New here.. watching from Europe
Thanks and welcome 👍
Very much enjoyed you back in the artic, i first came across your channel when you still drove artics so was a little sad when you moved to the transporter! Still watch every video though!
4AM EARLY? I used to start work at 4am and loved it
Just thinking about 🤔 out of work Heavy plant drivers Dump truck 2 years experience. What is your thought off the idea.
How did you get the artic job, was someone off ?
Never driven a MAN but is the wheel bigger than the Renault one because that seems massive?
Good Monday evening to you sir and your family from Wellington Somerset
Nice to see you in the semi again. You do drive that sooo god
Kev All unmarked bridge heights in the UK were 16 Ft 6 "
Yer spoiled these days Fella , trailer heights are marked ;)
TOP JOB T,,,,,,,,,,,,,,LOVING IT
is it rtue that lorry drivers sleep in there cab and is that a regular thing.
i can and have a class 1 but it is doing a days work without a shower i have to shower in the morning before any work or is that only for long distance ect
Hi Just subscribed to your channel today (enjoying) as a catch up can you tell me if you left pre covid job and were you working or furloughed etc through covid. You working with another company etc.
Hi Stephen, I was working for Burden up until just before COVID hit then changed to Trents. 3 weeks into working for Trents the UK went into lockdown and Trents Furloughed me for the first 3 weeks then we went back to work for the remainder of lockdown. Hope your enjoying the catch up 👍
If that's a TGX 2 (pre 70 plate) the cruise is very good. I think MAN ruined it with the TGX 3. A very nice, comfortable and easy drive but the cruise control is super annoying. Only cruises up to 53, which isn't the worst thing, but it keeps cutting out or switching off altogether so you're constantly checking. It will also accelerate to 56 then neutral itself, dropping to like 51 before coming back on. They've changed the sun blinds to visors. Don't know why but now you can't see the road fully when they're down and at certain times of the day, the sun shines through the gap at the top. The media centre is great, while the sub-woofer behind your seat works and you'll get dizzy with all the random warnings that appear. It does have a smaller steering wheel, though. Essentially, MAN have over-tech'd it, which is a shame because despite all that, it really is a nice drive.
16:54 I went from watching KevTee driving, to fan boying over that R34, my dream car...
Same here haha!
i know lol
Silly question why do you not have reversing cameras to help out on blind side ?
Hi kev,why do u take 45 after 3 hr,why not run out 4.5 because ur second job might take longer than expected, I have done the same and got caught out so I done 4.5 THEN take a 45.
Great video Kev do you need to take your card out and put it in the Renault or is ok because it’s private land cheers
@33mins...Nice POV
That looks like the DPD van that tries to deliver to my house
Good to see you back in an artic again Kev is your Lee still enjoying life at Trents?
Variety is the spice of life
Great video kevtee
Is that Ian’s truck you were driving
Enjoy that vid Kev 🤟👍
I have been up & down the M6 a lot lately, I have a hard disk full of dashcam Vids of HGV drivers tailgating me, apparently intoxicated & swinging all over the carriageway, drivers eating & drinking, driving one handed or even no handed, driving with their elbows, pulling out in front of me etc etc. The sooner the driverless HGV trains get started the safer for every other driver.
😂😂😂
Negative attitude, you need a job with the government. Take care, and move on to the next person your going to give negativity to.
@@Luke_90s I have a negative attitude to people who are, by their actions, putting others life & limb under threat. But, on the positive side, nobody beat the HGV driver I saw on the German autobahn, with his feet up on the dashboard, drinking coffee eating a sandwich & watching a video, whilst driving.....
If I recorded every dangerous action a car driver done I would have memory cards coming out my ears.
About time we got them driverless cars on the road
@@Madmark50484 Well most car drivers are not "professionals" so there is a big difference!!
Great to see you enjoyed your time back in an HGV. Some of the bus drivers in 2016-17 were saying they could not believe how big the steering wheel was in the Volvo B11RTs compared to the B13RTs. When you mentioned steering wheel being huge compared to the Volvo you use to drive at previous firm Pal. 👍
How was the MAAAAHOOOSIVE steering wheel 😂😂
I drove a new MAN not long ago, very nice, only let down by the stupid steering wheel size, completely unnecessary.
Think they need a bigger yard kev
That definitely 16.1" trailer? I've been driving double decker trailers and they're only 15.10"
Well I didn't measure it but that it what was on the headboard, just look as the space between the roof and the hightop van in the thumbnail.
Access seems to be an issue a both locations
I never noticed you carrying out the tug test after coupling either of the trailers to make sure the locking bar on the 5th wheel had fully secured the pin ? Could be a very costly and fatal mistake. Maybe you did it and i missed it.
I thought the same too.
No one else seen the GTR R34? Damn
Nice skyline though
You do keep us entertained Kev!
See the dangers of 'tail swing' here czcams.com/video/2niUTk8KhG8/video.html "_Red Funnel Ferry Check-In Desk Demolished by Truck_"!
The red and white tractor units towards the top of the screen are 'shunters'. They spend more time reversing than driving forwards and repeatedly hitch and unhitch trailers for perhaps fifteen minutes every hour.
lol, got back into it becuase the wages are going through the roof right now
I did as well after 5 years. But after the third week I was reminded why I retrained as a air conditioning engineer. Getting up at 3am for 4am starts not getting back home until 6/7 on the night I was literally seeing my kids and wife for hour then going back to bed to start it all over again. They had me tramping by the third week. Hence to say I got back the final Friday after being away all week, took the keys in, thanked them for the opportunity but said it ain’t for me now, especially being a dad now with young kids. Trucking is a good life of your a single bloke. It’s no good for family men. Still love the job, driving trucks especially artics, but it just the hours are ridiculous.
Nice. What is your music at about 15 mins in
Tainted - Red Revision on the A34 part of the video
You left jobs was they moaning at you selling the cars
Maybe watch the video 👍
Great to see Trent’s going from strength to strength. I can remember when it was just the small yard accessed from the main road.
Hi KEV,
Auto retard for braking has been available on trucks for at least 15 years, to my knowledge, Fella , and if my memory serves me right it was a MAN Truck that introduced them ;)
Just sayin ;)..............................................
Saw one of your firms tucks,a nice looking volvo fm up here in the south side of Glasgow today
Hey Kev, whats the name of the music on the overture?
Tainted - Red Revision on the A34 section
When did you pass your class 1? Or at least start driving class 1?
Years ago I think he said he passed 7/8 years ago from memory but don’t quote me on that.
@@matty6848 still a novice then lol
Kev ,
Couldn't help notice how the friendly car dealer neighbour has strategically parked cars blocking the entrance , Right at the point where the Artic could have easily reversed into that Yard to complete your Trailer change!!
We all live in the UNITED KINGDOM ;(
Please ;).................................................................................
Nothing United about this country any more ;(
p.s. You didn't shunt forward after you coupled up at the end ;(
And they're now removing the coupling up exercise for new Drivers !! GOD Help us..............
