@@cwg73160 You think I missed the context? I'm talking about the sleeping behavior and more. I was thinking about the fact that it was laying its head down like that. Maybe that's normal for an osprey of that age (it is, after all, still pretty young), but I myself have never seen that behavior in a bird that is healthy and as far developed as that one was (usually they can sleep with their head up, perhaps tucked under a wing, like an adult bird). Then after that, it sure didn't have much ability to fight. Young birds of prey are usually quite powerful when defending themselves, even if badly wounded. Sue ojeda, I love falconry, I'm just saying that great horned owls hunt falconry birds, I have friends that are falconers that have problems some times having there bird's hunted by owls, I was just sharing knowledge, I respect your oppinion.
It all comes down to the structure of the owls’ flight feathers. There is set of little spines/ribs along the outer edge of the feathers that softens the air before actually meeting the body of feathers, providing a very stealthy glide and wing beat. It became necessary due to their main prey (rodents and lagamorphs) having excellent hearing. It just happens that it’s an excellent adaptation for hunting everything else as well.
@Gary Ramirez. I am very well into and acquainted with Falconers in Florida and in New York & it's quite the opposite actually. Diurnal Raptirs that falconer use like Red Tailed Hawks and Goshawks are hunted with in the daytime, when the hawk has the advantage. & if the hawk/ falconer are seasoned & have been doing it for some time , it is the hawk that can give the gho an extremely hard time as These hawks are also fighters and can see the owl. I've seen proof of incidents where ghos were killed. I have photo proof of a young female Red Tailed Hawk that killed an adult female Gho. All talons from both of the owls- skull and face- crushing the owls skull bone structure causing hemmorage & a quick death. Both of each of the Hawks longest talons, the halux claws were each stuck deeply into both of the owls eyes. Excellent kill & very quick. The owl didn't even have a chance. The GHO has gotta eat. Sad the chick was it's meal instead of a rat or something. Maybe it's parents will have a chick survive to adulthood next year at a different nesting site.
@nickys34 The point was primarily about animals not people. I don't think owls eat plant life although they seem to eat any animal they can kill. Ospreys only eat fish. I've been told that eating rice and beans gives a complete protein that is essentially the same as any meat protein; both groups need additional plant foods to provide necessary vitamins and minerals. Eating nothing but meat doesn't provide everything you need. Eat Right for Your Type by D'Adamo discusses why some people should be vegetarians and some should not.

And some people think humans are different… just different
Osprey Looks Like He Was Tapping Out From a Wrestling Match.
Man so difficult to watch them die slowly... Makes you wish the chick would have been put out of misery quickly ;-;
It actually did look like it did die pretty quick. Thank God
Wo sind die Eltern Vögel soooo lange?
I wonder if Great Horned Owls have learned to seek out wildlife cameras?
That's an interesting thought. I hadn't considered that.
The answer is no
@@agl1138 The answer is yes!! Owls can see into the infrared spectrum therefore will see the glow of the camera
Покажите возвращение родителей в гнездо
Muitos de nós,os ditos humanos,já estamos fazendo isso, tirando o ar,sufocando os que querem viver!!!
WTF are you talking about?
Where were the adults ??
Вот гад,мышей ему мало!?
Точно так же подумала, когда смотрела ролик.
It's a professional at that!
Very sad so where was at least one of the parents??? Though chicks are never left alone???
parents weren’t around
😥😥😥
Where are the parents???
Why to end....
The chicken died because due to the owl weight not letting him breath right? Or am I mistaken
Was the mother catching fish at night???
The mother was found dead, thought to be the victim of a GHO. The dad was doing the best he could on his own.
Great Horned Owl's are powerful predators
Just like with us humans children need both parents to get a good start in life, a lesson from nature here.
why you being racist dude??? it was obvious that was bent towards the black community because 77% are single-mother households. Nazi!
@@learninglasvegas..1822 And the black community does such an excellent job raising kids in single-mother households, too. Just look at the south side of Chicago, yep, all those baby mamas are doing spectacular jobs of cranking out first class citizens who are polite, well-spoken, highly educated, law-abiding, modest and clean-living.
Bas Didit Only a Black dumbass such as yourself pulls the race card over everything. Dumb fuck
Are you kidding R Greenup? Great horned owls will take chicks out of the nest right in front of the parent... Just as thousands of priests victimized children from two-parent homes. I don't know if you were being racist, but you were certainly making a stupid analogy on which to predicate a "Life lesson"!
The owl broke it's neck.. crazy..
For the survival of their children. Seems all too familiar
😥😥😥😢😢😢😭😭😭😫😫😫
