- Walking to see Hengifoss waterfall in Iceland. Hengifoss is the third highest waterfall in Iceland, 128 meters, located in Hengifossá in Fljótsdalshreppur, East Iceland. It faces Lagarfljót lake and Hallormsstaðarskógur forest. The waterfall is surrounded by basaltic strata with thin, red layers of clay between the basaltic layers. Hengifoss is the most popular hiking site in East Iceland. It takes 30-60 minutes to walk to the waterfall.
01:38 - Hengifossá river.
16:05 - A view of one of the tallest steeple or pillars of rock
by Litlanesfoss waterfall.
25:48 - Hengifoss is the second tallest waterfall in Iceland, 128 meters.
26:27 - Interbasaltic strata of reddish sandy clay formed from volcanic ash and surface scoria on lava layers are to be seen in many places. In time they form soil. In the warm damp climate of the Tertiary Period, clay and iron compounds were formed in the soil. Then when the next layer of lava flowed over the acidic soil, the iron reacted with the oxygen, resulting in the reddish colouring in the intermediate layer and the glowing lava burned the top part of the layer beneath it, also colouring it red.

Thanks. Sheep find me attractive I guess.
Hengifoss is so beautiful. Thank you for the video. I really enjoyed it. 🥰💖🍧
Thanks
WOW another walk my arthritic knees would not be able to do. Thank you for showing me these places. :)
I'm glad I could offer you the opportunity to walk with me despite your good old knees :)
Beautiful
Thank you
Cool video my friend, keep up the good content!!
Thanks
Great footage 👍
Thank you
Fantastic place! I will listening to The Witcher 3 Soundtrack while I see your video 😂😂
I always forget to check out that soundtrack. I'm adding it to my watchlist now.
@@IcelandHotSpots it's a nice soundtrack. I recommend Skellige Peaceful Theme, it's pretty relaxing
Hengifoss! One of those landmarks from the East that keep calling me to visit Iceland for a 3rd time.
One day.🤣🙋♂️
Wow 3rd time. Yes it's worth a visit. I hope you can go the whole way. I couldn't this time.
Great video. I'm amazed it was shot on a GoPro. I should pull out my Hero 8 and use it more. Did you change any of the default settings within the GoPro like iso or color or hyper boost, etc.? Just curious, as again it looks great in your video! I'm sure the gimbal helps too.
Thank you, no it's just default settings. Works great with the gimbal.
Please make a tour video on Reykjavik again😄
Absolutely. I have a great one. Not yet but in a few weeks.
Increíble video.la cascada es de las más grandes 128 metros es impresionante.es muy bonito
Fue hermoso y pacífico. Ojalá me hubiera acercado a la cascada.
🙋♀️ Hi. You must be tired for sure! Great video and so many beautiful waterfalls. Why all the gates along the path? Just curious.
It was uphill most of the way so yes I got a nice workout. And thank you. The gates are there to help keep sheep inside their fences.
@@IcelandHotSpots Oh, I didn’t think about that, or of sheep. Makes sense though. Rest well. 😴
I was scared for you in the end you were at the edge 😅 Anyway, hello sheep!
Thank you for your concern, I'll be careful. Are you joining the tour next friday for a live chat?
@@IcelandHotSpots I'll check it out if its not too early here. We have an 8hr difference 😁
Very nice video. And many changes since 2007: the path is larger, forest has grown, bridges built... but the landscape is still amazing :)
Thanks Patrick. Yes it was great. Too bad I didn't make it all the way because the path was closed. I imagine you made it the whole way in 2007?
@@IcelandHotSpots Yes, I did it, coming up to about 100 m at the foot from the waterfall. the closed path was only 30 cm wide :)
I envy you. Maybe next time for me.
@@IcelandHotSpots I hope for you :) By the way, I was there in 2005 (and not 2007), I sent you an email
@@macpatman Thanks Patrick I saw it and shared it. I think you don't mind.
can we go further from the vdo?
Yes but not at all times. I would have gone further but the path was closed because of risk of falling rocks, mud slides.
@@IcelandHotSpots oh what a pity , can we check the condition before trekking ? Thank u for replying
@@chalidalimjeerajarus8068 Seems okay now. A large boulder was removed in july and it seems to be open now www.fljotsdalur.is/frettir/225-hengifoss-goenguleidhin-opin
