I agree 👍 it's just a pity he can't sing his own lyrics 😜 saw the pogues years ago, he turned up an hour and a half late then sort of mumbled through some songs pissed out of his nut 😂

  • @preacaininternational5637

    Shane was a literal genius.

He's a major talent! I've been following him loyally for *YEARS!* The redtop 'newspapers' are responsible for a good deal. They describe Shane using offensive and often personally hurtful language.
They focus on the man's *NON-EXISTENT* private life, rather than his music, which is a great sin, in and of itself...
I challenge *ANY* English-speaking person to read the lyrics to *ANY* of Shane's songs and not be moved by their beauty.
"Lullaby of London" and "The Sickbed of Cúchulainn" are two shining examples. The former being a slow ballad where Shane paints a beautiful image right from the opening line: "As I walked down by the riverside one evening in the spring..." and the latter being a frantic ode to a drop of poison, foreign lands, angels, devils, fighting, fucking and reincarnation!
The content of "The Sickbed of Cúchulainn" immediately cements MacGowan's status as lyricist extraordinaire. If you haven't heard him or his lyrics yet, you are in for a *BIG TREAT!*
    All the best,
From Shane's number one fan in Ireland,
    Davey Hughes...

Why is everybody having a go at Shane, eh? Leave the guy alone fer Christsakes. I'm getting tired of hearing about how he's killing himself with the drink and how his teeth are all gone, blah, blah, blah. He's still productive and touring and that's good enough for me.

Thanks Shane, you will be missed. The pure drop and a great sport here with the puppets. You left us with a great tome of music, sadly if not for the drugs and booze sure you'd have left us with more, but that's being selfish. They plied you with booze starting at 5 but also great literature, quite the concoction for a young man, you turned it into great magic plus you took the toll. Fare thee well old soul

Hi MetalBru... Yes, although this incident was *GREATLY* exaggerated... Shane was very sick in 2000, he went through a huge crack and heroin binge, and even ended up in a wheelchair on stage in Dublin's Olympia Theatre. At the start of the gig, he threw up a small amount, certainly not *ALL OVER THE FRONT ROW* as the tabloids excitedly printed. Hope that gave it some context for you and others.
