2021 this song does something to me deep down in my heart. Cry my beloved country. A great summary of what led to the chimurenga war. I'm not a Zanu but this is what the born free generation needs to know and appreciate....
Born free generation understand very well the struggle that took place for them to be born in freedom however the politicians who emerged as leaders from the liberation struggle are the ones who have lost sight of the very thing they supposedly fought for.
One thing I noticed, the born frees (Ama2000) born overseas (UK etc) are so keen to find their roots more than those in Zimbabwe. I believe these are the people who will transform and build Zimbabwe because they are not interested in partisan politics.
This version is very educative of our liberation struggle and also how we were penetrated as a country by the British. An eye opener. This must be part of the schools curriculum.
this song must give the Zimbabweans the courage to build up their nation without ceasing .our ancestors struggled for the freedom we have today so let us also prepare something good for the coming generations..vavanenzwi kwaro vakuru avo.thumps up
This song reminds me of Voice of Zimbabwe broadcasting from Lourenco Marquez (Mozambique). We used listened to it attentively on Short Wave 1 while in Louis Trichardt, SA.
This song played the whole day on independence day of Zimbabwe in 1980. It played on radio Zimbabwe from Mozambique. I live in chipata, zambia and could listen to the liberation radio station on shortwave radio.
We salute the gallant sons and daughters of Zimbabwe who fought for independence. This part of history can not be traded or erased by mere stupidity. People fought for the land full stop. No matter what circumstances the people now own the means of production. Vanhu ngava humane nothing will change.
This was back when the whole country was alive with hope for the future, when most thought it could never go wrong. Nehanda Nyakasikana tarira nyika yave dzoto
The lead singer's voice demands attention to listen without enforcing it. Calm and laying down facts at the same sounding bitter, and hurt without shouting.
viva Zimbabwe. I genuinely feel like crying. can you imagin nehanda nakaguvi as Unexposed to world events as they were realised we were under attack and took up arms. hanzi vairwa nemaphumo nemuseve. They must have known they had no chance but decided to fight anyway
Now nyaya dzemachechi dziye is on another level, money spinning business vatema vachipambana upfumi using the bible. Vamwe ndiwo vanobva waramba tsika dzavo hanzi chitema. Maporofita aya unongonzwa nyaya dzekuti dzinga mweya yemadzinza, hameno kuti pane munhu asina dzinza here?? Kunge pange pasina wedzinza wakange wakabudirira? Vamwe ndiwo vanoti nyoka dzinorutsawo mari aha, vamwe ndevemaaointing oils, who manufactures those anointing oils?? Zimbabwe i mixed bag. This is a very nice song narrating dates and events.
The concept of independence is fake. The vampires needed blood. To think that our country would be back to were it was before colonialism is a phony idea. People in control of the world are vampires they need blood and they use African dictators to start senseless wars. War is a profitable business. Zanu Pf will rule until eternity because they owe a lot of money to people who gave them guns to fight that senseless war.
The mellow voice of this leader singer brought and still brings emotions in the heart. Can feel some sense of courage and commitment to the war in this song!! Nyaya dzemachechi dzakatipinza busy, even up to now, ivo zvavo vagoni sipping tea murugare, isu busy shouting , "I receive" nhamo dzichiwanda. Vaporofiti chaiwo are people like Chaminuka
One munhu ataura chokwadi straight. Besides the rich History in this song, it's points out zvatiri kufanira kugadzirisa. The real prophets ana Chaminuka tinovatuka tichiti vakaipa. Vanhu vakafira Nyika zvatinoziva tinovatuka zvekare. Ikozvino tiri busy kuita " I receive" but the very initiators and the ones who came with maChurch varikushandisa maResources edu kupfuma, isu mu Africa tichisvuuka mabvi kunamata vanhu hedu😢 Wake Up Africa!
my tears just come out while i was till listening to this song... I love Zimbabwe and those who lost their life during liberation may God bless their families..
I'm not a zanu pf supporter but this is a message for us as Zimbabweans. We need to wake up and not sell out what our ancestors fought for. Where is our pride as a nation if we don't honour our ancestors. All these western countries take pride in their own history and here we are thinking we have become more educated abandoning our ancestors. Where is our identity as nation?
Hondo yeZanu Chiwororo. I enjoyed listening and dancing to Chimurenga type when i was only and up to now everytime i hear this music its like I'm hearing it for the first time.
Dedicated men and women came to develop Zimbabwe into a modern state we are proud of today. I salute these men of focus well dedicated to their new found land Rhodesia.
Yah it's very hurting...though we got nothing to do....some people really died for Zimbabwe 🇿🇼....look where are we now may God bless Zimbabwe Amen. 2021🤝
2011 doing Grade 6 i had a teacher called Oppah Duma. She forced us to memorise this song to capture the dates very well of Moffat Treaty, Grobbelar Treaty and Rudd Concession.
ZANU and ZAPU were not political parties. They were national projects. It was a mistake to make them political parties. At independence, we were supposed to transform them into national institutions of some sort, in same way we did ZANLA and ZIPRA. This would have allowed Zimbabwe to have real political parties. Today, our political landscape is messed up because of this mistake.
When you are approaching old age (40+ years), you can no longer run away from your roots anymore.Mbuya Nehanda is your founding mother. These are songs that will ring in your subconscious and deep sleep, not Amapiano, Hip Hop or Dancehall. Of course, there are Sungura songs which make you reminisce and nostalgic as well. Most of these artists are dead. Mugabe did what he had to do under pressure from the war veterans and land hungry populace. Whoever was going to be the leader of a new Zimbabwe in 1980 would eventually be pressured by the war veterans to grab land, otherwise they would be overthrown and called a coward or sellout like Muzorewa and Canaan Banana. Mugabe should have retired soon after grabbing land, but hey I am not God. Farms should have been shared 50/50 with black people like the South African BEE program to ensure continuity and production. But would the Rhodesians agree to this set up, considering they were very arrogant?
This is deep. Vakauya nema church vakatiudza kuti kune ma saints, vanhu vakafa vanotisvitsira minamato kuna Musikavanhu. Asi vanoti vadzimu vedu vakashata. Handiti vadzimu vedu vangoriwo vanhu vakafa vanotisvitsira minamato kuna Musikavanhu? They demonize our ancestors, yet what's the difference between them and saints?
On the day we remember our heroes for their sacrifice, the second republic have tried to infuse our history into our consciousness. It is up to us all to appreciate their effort Zimbabwe is ours to destroy and build. The choice is for those who can protect one person vote . Unity is the winner
Zimbabwe @40 who is here hit, like guys for the love of our country.

My sentiments exactly
to bad your country is now colonized by american culture
One thing I noticed, the born frees (Ama2000) born overseas (UK etc) are so keen to find their roots more than those in Zimbabwe. I believe these are the people who will transform and build Zimbabwe because they are not interested in partisan politics.
This is the history that must be taught in schools with serious depth to rid our people of mental colonization.... cry my beloved country🇿🇼✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Of what benefit is it
I agree with you. A lot of the young are unaware of where we came from and the atrocities our parents & grandparents went through under colonial rule
We should sing these songs too. They instil a sense of pride in one's self too
@@brightmuza884 Ignorance and arrogance at its level best
Ideology of Zimbabwe should be taught to Zimbabweans

The blood that was shed cannot go in vain. This touches my soul.Cry my beloved country.
I remember this song in 1981 when I was writing my 'O' Level, the dates came in handy in the History paper.
It took me staying in the diaspora to realize how much I love Dzimbahwe. Our rich and wealthy and mighty Zimba remabwe
And myself brother
This song makes me cry. Even my mom almost cried when I played. Tears for our Zimbabwe 😭

ZANU really did a number on us. There was so much hope and aspiration in the air at independence!
and now youre colonized by america
This song makes me wish i was there in the war fighting for my country

Zimbabwe @44 of freedom
it is not only ZANU that fought for this country ,it is 2 tribes Ndebele and Shona.
Also not true. several other ethnic groups were involved.
Liberation war was fought by Zimbabweans as one... our elders had no tribalsm....
Zimbabwe is not for shonas and ndebeles only why not mentioning other tribes .....one country one people one fight
looking at it now...my eyes fill with tears
