    Thanks for the lesson, very helpful, but one question, mine is a dual scale imperial and metric, but the dial says it's calibrated to .001 inches, so do I ignore the dial if measuring in metric or is there a conversion to apply?

    Metric is all the way specially for beginners like me :) The imperial calipers looks bloody pain in the ass to read :)
