It was narrated that Sa`d bin Waqqas said: "Mu`awiyah came on one of his pilgrimages and Sa`d entered upon him. They mentioned `Ali, and Mu`awiyah criticized him. Sa`d became angry and said: 'Are you saying this of a man of whom I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "If I am a person's close friend, `Ali is also his close friend." How do you know this incident is authentic. You talk like Shia, you smell like Shia and then you deny that you are not Shia. Why you had to add this sentence at the end. Highly suspecting for sure. Present any Hadith Scholar worth His salt who denies this hadith to be authentic. Also, I'm not a shia, nor a sunni, I prefer to be called a Muslim, because that's what Prophet Muhammad SAWW was. If these hadiths are not part of our deen then you should take that matter up with the Imams who gathered those hadiths since you claim to know better than those scholars. Sahl refused to do that. He (the governor) said to him: If you do not agree to it (at least) say: May Allah curse Abu Turab. Sahl said: There was no name dearer to `Ali than Abu Turab (for it was given to him by the Prophet himself) and he felt delighted when he was called by this name. He (the governor) said to him: Narrate to us the story of his being named as Abu Turab. He said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to the house of Fatima and he did not find `Ali in the house; whereupon he said: Where is your uncle's son? She said: (There cropped up something) between me and him which had annoyed him with me. He went out and did not rest here. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked a person to find out where he was. He came and said: Allah's Messenger, he is sleeping in the mosque. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to him and found him lying in the mosque and saw that his mantle had slipped from his back and his back was covered with dust and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) began to wipe it away from him (from the body of Hadrat `Ali) saying: Get up, covered with dust (Abu Turab); get up, covered with dust.

And I heard him say: "You are to me like Harun was to Musa, except that there will be no Prophet after me." And I heard him say: "I will give the banner today to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger."

If these hadiths are not part of our deen then you should take that matter up with the Imams who gathered those hadiths since you claim to know better than those scholars. Sahl said: There was no name dearer to `Ali than Abu Turab (for it was given to him by the Prophet himself) and he felt delighted when he was called by this name. He said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to the house of Fatima and he did not find `Ali in the house; whereupon he said: Where is your uncle's son? She said: (There cropped up something) between me and him which had annoyed him with me. He went out and did not rest here. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked a person to find out where he was. He came and said: Allah's Messenger, he is sleeping in the mosque. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to him and found him lying in the mosque and saw that his mantle had slipped from his back and his back was covered with dust and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) began to wipe it away from him (from the body of Hadrat `Ali) saying: Get up, covered with dust (Abu Turab); get up, covered with dust.

Regardless of whatever fights may or may not have taken place, they were all humans and any of them could make mistakes and could sin HOWEVER Allah says HE will forgive your sins if you ask it from HIM. So how does ANYONE know who asked for forgiveness and who received forgiveness?!? 1) If it was part of Islam, then he didnt write it down and therefore islam is incomplete

2) The statement he wanted to make was not a part of islam and therefore had no relevance.
3) This event happened on thursday, the prophet was alive for 4 more days and was also carried to the mosque. Thats where he made his final remarks and said the curse of Allah be upon the jews and christians because they took the graves as places of worship
The prophet was not going to write the name of Ali as a caliph on that paper as the shia claim. He lived for 4 more days and could have made those statements repeatedly if he wanted to. Also Ali was present in that room on that thursday and did not give the prophet the paper and pen he requested. Ali himself gave bayah to all caliphs before him and lived under their rule. Ali never claimed to be a divine imam who can see the future or had ilm e ghaib or other special qualities. He was nothing more than a great sahabi of the prophet, his brother/cousin, his son in law and the 4th caliph of islam. He is free from the shirk the shia do in his name and free from the kufr beliefs the shia have

I don’t know what he would have written but Ibn Abbas is a significant sahaba and he calls it a calamity it’s not a small word to use and you’re right he was alive for 3 days he could have repeated it however the statement goes like "Come near let me write for you a writing after which you will never go astray.” It specifically talks about never going astray however Umar did cut him off and I’ve seen Sunni Maulanas decent Umar by saying RasulAllah wasn’t coherent which makes me extremely uncomfortable, I went as far as going to anti Shia sites to get a reply and you and I both know he is the prophet at no one should have the audacity to cut him off

Muawiyah R.A. appointed governers were cursing Imam Ali a.s. as reported in above Hadith in sahih Muslim. The word used is يَشْتِمَ which is cursing in arabic. May we accept truth when it comes to us.
