I have a bleeding heart and it never occurred to me that they have seeds or that i could propagate more plants. Hopefully I'll have more bleeding heart plants next year!! Thank you

I hope you have more plants also! I'm planning to collect more seeds this week and scatter those in other areas. I'm also planning to store some in the fridge and after a few months plant them in pots and see how I do with germination that way. It'll be a good experiment! 😊💖

Glad to know this. Been waiting to divide my bleeding heart but was unsure of the process. Sowing seeds sounds more straightforward. Thank you! Im a new subscriber. I like how succinct your explanations are. Why do bleeding hearts seeds not self-sow? x

Hi there. Thanks so much for subscribing to my channel. I truly appreciate it. 💗 Bleeding hearts do self-sow but not readily. Every year, I end up with a few volunteer seedlings. Sometimes, I help my plant out by dispersing the seeds around before I cut the plant down in mid-summer when it's dying back. I'm going to try dividing one of my bleeding hearts just as an experiment. I think it's possible to do but not as easy as dividing other perennials in the garden. The key is to make sure each division has some root on it. 😊🌸

So most of the ebay sellers are probably not good seeds? Thanks. Sounds like it's just easier to buy the roots to start. I've tried growing bleeding heart seeds on ebay a couple times now, and had no luck, now I know why.

Hi there. I have never bought seeds on eBay so I'm not sure about that. You can definitely start Bleeding Hearts from bare root plants, which are usually available at big box stores, etc. in the late Winter or early Spring months. Good luck, friend!

Can you talk about Columbine seeds?

Great suggestion! My columbine have not gone to seed yet but as soon as they do, I'll surely make a video on how to collect Columbine seeds. 😊💐
