Number of shows now , West World, Stranger Things, Britannia .... seem to have calculated weirdness , not sure what I think of that.
things that bother me... Perry jumping into the hole abandoning his child and putting the ranch at risk if he doesn't show up in court. Imogen Poots kissing, what is with all that tongue action? Everytime Billy breaks into song I cringe really hard. In fact I had to pause episode 8 when the combination of Imogen kissing Billy and him breaking into song was too much for me to handle. I will return and finish watching the finale but I had to go bitch somewhere first....

More questions than answers. If there is a second season, I hope it is good. The OA was another show where the first season was great and trippy while the second season was a turd that killed it. Let's hope we get a good season 2.

I believe Perry jumped because Autumn told him Rebecca is in the future. Joy going to the past made sense to me because the guy who owns that land had told her there had been sightings of mastodons. I was thinking that the Abbott's land has the substance that took people to the future and that guy's land has substance that travelled to the past. Notice that both lands had a big rock with the circle symbol on it. Autumn found the symbol on the Abbott land and Joy found the symbol on the other guy's land.

@@fmaries7000 I guess it was worth a shot seeing how is inevitable future atm was doing prison time, no biggie if he leaves his kid and parents homeless. Ironically if he instead showed up at the rodeo...
That makes a lot of sense with the two different time jump spots. But what about when thy guy dug the new hole and buffalo started pouring out of it? That was where the old "future" hole was. Unless. since they have messed with the future and past there is a mix up going on now in the timelines where they purposefully got buffalo from the past to the far future for food because they are out of resources in the future? Maybe that countdown clock is when the world is going to start ending and they need the hole for help.. Idk but season two better provide.

This is a great show, sad it’s over for now. Hate when series are not given the praise they deserve because they’re not on Netflix
Thinking about it now, the sheriff held her phone up like she wasn't getting a signal, I guess cause she was in the past. I just assumed she didn't have signal cause she was in wyoming, lol.

It cut away from her a lot, she could have touched it. Its possibly a vision, but I think she was actually in the past through the same mechanism that brought the fleeing Buffalo to the present.
The issue with Trevor's body isn't all that complicated to me. Royal threw him into the hole, and he travelled 5 days into the future. In his timeline, he died, was thrown into the hole, and was found the next morning. That explains why it was only 8 hours after he died that he was found.
yeah but someone had to throw his body back in a hole in the timeline he landed in lol pretty funny run across a dead body by a hole and just toss it back in you can keep that game going for awhile
@@Zennofobic no, they didn't. If they had, he would have returned to around the time he was originally thrown in. Let's say that Royal had been shot and died right before Autumn pushed him into the hole. When he came out of the hole 2 years in the future, if they tested him, they would have said that he died a few minutes before he was thrown into the hole.
Look at it this way. Let's say that the fight that killed Trevor happened at 12:30am on Sunday morning. Royal throws him into the hole around 1:30am Sunday morning. He travels to the following Friday, and comes out of the hole, landing on the mountain trail, where he is found by Amy at around 8:30am Friday morning. In Trevor's timeline, he died at 12:30am, and was found at 8;30am. He died 8 hours before he was found. In everyone else's timeline, he died five days before he was found.

You should check Tokyo Vice, Severence, Winning Time and also The Dropout. Very good year so far for television.
Great review. Story progressed slowly but the acting is great- especially Imogen Poots as Autumn.
Best TV show in a long time, even better than severance in my opinion.

What about when Autumn yelled into her cell phone "don't call me that! Mom!" Why did Rebecca tell young Amy that she had to leave for her safety?

Something is going on with autumn. She’s become unhinged. Probably from going back and forth too much. Her mom it’s trying to stop her from messing the timeline up. Or something along those lines
I agree -- pacing was a bit uneven for me (slow meandering burn and then a quick final two episodes). They could have set up more of the Rebecca reveal in earlier episodes/more plot points about whatever the plan is (that we glimpsed when Royal was pushed - and if we now think that Amy/Autumn knew what would happen, then why did she push him in? Did him having fallen through once have anything to do with it? Did that confirm something for her?). There was also a bit where animals spoke to Autumn what was that about? Also significance of the wounded buffalo and taking arrows out of it one by one? I'm hoping that if this show gets a second season then it will get some narrative headroom to accommodate its weird stylistic choices (i.e. Billy singing or some of the campier acting...the entire Tillerson set)
Side note, I liked that they signaled the Amy/Autumn reveal by giving her a single yellow sleeve in her first appearance in Ep 7.
This would explain where so many of the American Buffalo went.
anyone notice Luke Tillerson has an iPhone with a Google Android case cover? You know it's an iPhone because the holes in the back meant for the camera are in the wrong places so you can see the Apple logo.

I think the hole is very connected to Royal. In the timeline we know, the first time we see the hole is after he kills his father. It materialized in front of him when he was wishing he could disappear. Royal has unknown powers, and the hole could have been created by his grief.
Cool but I doubt they are going the “powers” route here…

This show is awesome, hope no one spoils it online and actually gets to watch the finale, fresh. I was continuously interested in it, but the final 2 episodes really did it for me, I really hope they renew this and expand on it. Especially since there has been nothing good on Prime and they passed on making Stephen King's Gunslinger series, which could have been awesome and lasted forever.

I was right. The buffalo was Mephisto! Turns out this show is too metaphorical or symbolic for my tiny pea brain. If there is a season 2 I think I will have to tap out.
I was burned so bad by Lost, I have real difficulty trusting that the writers have the long game planned out.

What's the deal with the way Autumn and Billy kiss? It's unusual 🤠
So weird.
It could have something to do with Amy disappearing with her mom. Maybe how she ended up being raised was that she never kissed anyone before. It just reminded me of someone not knowing how to even kiss. And as far as Billy kissing like that, it could be an instance of just going with it, when dealing with a bad kisser. When I was a kid, anytime I ran into a sloppy kisser it would take multiple times to maybe kind of steer them in a better direction. And autumn/Billy had only just started kissing. The only reason I'm over thinking about it is because it was so weird and am trying to rationalize it. But then again, both of them seem to be very strange and definitely have the makings of cult leaders. Unfortunately I believe in season 2 we'll see that the whole Abbott family may in fact become that cult
I really dig this show. I can't want for season 2 I like a lot of the theories I'm hearing and if it goes that way then we're in for an adventure.

I really hate characters like Perry. He also reminds too much of his character Ben in Ozark. What I dislike about him is that he knew that the Abbot Ranch would be forfeit if he didn’t show for court and he allows his feelings about Rebecca to take him in. Ugh! And when he told Amy that he deeply regretted what he did to Trevor was an effing lie.
We are going to have to ask Nelson to pay Perry a visit …
Maybe what Autumn is living at the present she does not know what will happen but only what she’s seen in the future she’s so sure of. Like maybe she knows how it works out for Royal, the hole, the family in the future but not the specifics of the present time.

Simply put the hole takes people to where they need to go.
This has something to do with Greek Gods. Royal (King) mentioned the god Kronos the time god in episode one as did Autumn. And Kronos was married to Gaia the Mother of Earth. Autumn Rivers is a very earthy name. Idk. I’m enjoying the mystery though.
i think that that gross kisses were what Amy's age would have imagined the kiss. same as the shootout
This series is a combination of intriguing and confounding for meit’s almost like the writers must get together each week and write in a different direction! So it ends up being a time travel or “multi-dimensional” story….. So Sheriff Joy did not have to go through this HOLE but she ends up walking on a path in the woods and back in the 19th century. Yes she sees the gigantic Buffalo herd and a large Native American Plains tribe encampment . This actually places the time well before the 1880’s since by then all the buffalo were decimated and the tribes like the Crow, Sioux and Cheyanne had been placed on reservations after being decimated. That seems more like the 1850’s or 1860’s. So as for Rules in this story , who knows!
So basically, this is a multiverse show… that’s what i think.
Trevor was brought back intentionally by some person on the other side. I'm assuming that person was either Rebecca or Perry, in order to set ino place a series of events they need or want to happen.

I think because Royal had something or everything to do with what happened to Rebecca. I think when Rebecca came for Amy, she told her everything, hence autumn’s draw to the Abbott family and the property. Rebecca may have raised her as autumn and told her about the Abbott family but brainwashed her in a way that she may not remember ever living with them.
Btw what was up with the creepy camera angles when Autumn and Billy would kiss? Wacky Wacky show!🤣

The rather strange seemingly benign events in the show actually have deep meanings, I believe. The bears that Cecilia kills isn't in the show just for filler. That is significant somehow. The buffalo with the arrows that roamed around wasn't put in the show as filler. That is significant. Even the way Autumn and Billy kiss wasn't just put in for fun. That is somehow significant and we will likely see that "kiss" again in a different timeline.
I think autumn has a childlike mind still hence why she kissed billy like that.

I think the biggest question of all is why in the hell did Billy and Autumn has to kiss each other the way they did where both times, they have to smear saliva all over each other's faces and ended with a string of saliva linking the two!!!! That was just disturbing!!!
Billy was feeding the black goo/powder to his dad, I figured he had tasted it too and maybe tasted it in Autumn…? It was strange that they made a point of showing body fluid exchange so it had to do something with the hole essence
the mastodon sub story puts time travel much farther into the past.

Watched show is all over the place. Nothing is answered! Or maybe I missed something cause a mountain disappears and it just mention an never addressed again, I figure that girl was the granddaughter but why is she trying to kill her grandfather? No answer. Talks her father into jumping in the hole,so family can lose the land , why? She is an heir to it. Mom shows up and granddaughter just walks off and leaves with her, phuc telling Grandma hay my mom's back. This show is banking on a 2nd season but I fell like it may not happen if people feel like myself cause I was mad at this show. And these are just some of my questions there so many more.
Amy has to travel back in time at some point in the future in orrder to be Autumn in the present. I think she will meet Royal as a child and that's were she learns were he came from.
Or she traveled 20 years in the past and aged naturally.

This is all good, but tell me one thing, how a wonderful young kid, Amy, becomes a sicko Autumn? She is clearly insane. And God, that signing brother, at least we got rid of him. Dude. They were quite a couple though..lol.
Easy. At 8 years old her dad murders someone and disappears, her mom disappears, her family farm was taken by the state, her grandmother has a mental break, oh and she got the accident to the head. That's enough to break most children...
I just hope I didn't waste my time watching this, with all of the questions left, as so often these type of shows get canceled.
She's also possibly suprised because she has just gotten past the point of knowing the past if she lied about not remembering her childhood, therefore she wouldn't have known he died just after she disappeared from the family/town
im annoyed because much of the plot is pushed forwars by people acting in frustrating ways. Secrets and emotional neglect and its just.... accepted. its hard to get past scene after scene where i would have handled things much different.
and another is the pain caused. the juice isnt worth the squeeze. the grandma losing the land. the grandma losing amy at the rodeo. perry going through HELL. could any of you really go back in time and see your dads soul shredded and just shrug your shoulders?
especially in the future scene. everyone is informed about the hole...every interested party seemingly has access to the hole regardless of who owns the land. so why allow the pain? there was no need for perry and the grandma to go through what they did. i dont like autumn. and she let her grandpa get shot? when she knew hed be coming out of the hole
what does the grizzly refer to? why did he attack cece? and how the heck sheriff traveled in time by walking in a path of mountain...?when royal returned in 1968 he was a kid , he didnt grow up through the time travel even almost 90 years passed in the black hole... how the heck amy grew up and became autumn?who was the person autumn called mom by phone in the bank ?
The bear is related to the scene after she finds out perry killed the other son and she's in church. Remember they are talking about a bear killing 45 people because of God.

I think he just picked up his chew that he spit out when he threw up and put it back in his mouth. Just picked up some dirt with it to scrape out his mouth then spit it out.

i just absolutely loved the scene where cecilias brain finally wakes up and she is able to see and realize that the god of her delusions isn't real and if it is then it's a bully! always a pleasure to witness a human being waking up from all the nonsense and indoctrination still imposed to some humans in their childhood. peer pressure from dead people 😀🤣😂

Royal's son is the stray Buffalo with the arrow in its back. That's why he stayed behind the heard at the end. He knew Royal was his dad.

Must have missed something but didn’t see anyone go into the past. Everything went into the future. Love Brolin and love this kind of sci fi but pretty disappointed with this. Score sucked, director trying to be too artsy with stuff just got weird. Couple actors are too cringe, namely billy always singing terribly. Feels like peoples reactions to things were not realistic. Royal not seeming to care about this incredible thing he has. People who see the hole seem to know what it is right away and aren’t like ummm wtf? Just people acting weird the whole show and not in a good way, in a non believable way or didn’t make sense. Whole autumn plot line makes no sense. Royal just lets a drifter chill on his land next to this big secret? Won’t be watching season 2 and I sad that will sorrow since I was really looking forward to this.
one question only.....If Amy and Autumn are the same how were they able to meet each other during the hike?
