I was so hesitant about this movie. I love the original and I didn't want them to mess it up. But I love that it's not a "remake", it's more like un updated sequel. The casting is perfect. Such a fun movie.
Exactly. When I heard about it I was extremely apprehensive and preparing myself to not like it. But changing it up by making it a video game and making it work with the lore really let them tell this story in a new way without either the old one or the new ones being inconsistent with each other. Even down to the detail of being returned to the world at the moment you left it with Alex now being an adult with a family by the time he met the kids IRL. Just like Alan in the original.
Yea they made a smart choice by completely changing the concept and more doing an action comedy. Also instead going into the game rather then doing a repeat of the previous is nice way to let its be its own thing for the most part.
The non-CGI and non-sound stage jungle scenes were filmed in Hawaii, The waterfall is on the big island of Hilo. The sound stage was at Atlanta Metro Studios in Union City, Georgia, and the home exteriors and high school were all in Atlanta. The dance fighting scene outside the barn were most likely shot in Santa Clarita, CA on a 400 acre property set largely for filming westerns.
Until you saw this, did you ever imagine that you would see Jack Black play a teenage girl? And do it so well? Now you need to react to "Jumanji: The next level". They get the whole team back, although they don't all get the same bodies.

Saw this with my parents on New Year's Day 2017 on Blu Ray and we cracked up laughing! Loved it! Its the perfect Sequel to Robin Williams classic fantasy adventure film.

Jumanji movies and Ghostbusters Afterlife are one of rare well actually sequels of older popular movies that are done great. I am usually skeptic toward that kind of movies but those ones are done reallly great and are worth watching. Great reaction by the way.

I was worried to as a huge fan of Jumanji og. But they did great with these two new movies and had fun with it. Its obvious the writers and even the actors had a love for the original movie. And that really makes a difference.

Watching along with you has convinced me to give it a try. The parts you showed were funny and you seemed to be having a blast so I think I need to go watch the rest of the film.
I would definitely recommend giving it a watch. I didn't think it would be anywhere near as good as the original either when i first heard of it, but was pleasantly surprised once i did get around to watching it.

All the cast did such a great job as kids stuck in the bodies of adults, and Jack Black was scary priceless as Bethany/Shelly. Love it!
