I've listened to you on the Talent Stacker podcast, I've been very inspired by your story. What's your view on the prospects of Salesforce certifications vs. getting digital marketing certifications. It seems like there would be broader appeal with digital marketing. However Salesforce seems to have a more defined path to learning. Are either of these a viable path for a 48 year old? I've been in the commercial real estate arena most of my career. But I'm looking to pivot and shake things up. Looking toward the sales and marketing route or getting some certifications to have hard skills. I do have concerns the Salesforce path is a lot of trading time for money. Hourly or W2 pay vs. project or leveraged transactions.
I'm 53 and pivoting to Salesforce. Interestingly, I've been dabbling with digital marketing for the past few years and even considered starting my own agency for a while, however, i have no interest in doing sales 50-75% of the time. Having worked in tech before doing IT support, i have an affinity for tech and enjoy solving business problems.
The way I'm looking at Salesforce, my digital marketing and basic sales knowledge won't go to waste since I'll be helping sales and marketing professionals have the tools they need to do their jobs better. This is an idea i really enjoy and working my way through the various Salesforce trails and modules is great fun and stimulating for me. Definitely do it, the Salesforce training will pay off much better if your are even slightly more technically oriented.
