Amazing job again Mike! I hope you can keep it as original as possible as long as it doesn’t affect the fuel flow or leaks. If anyone can do this it’s you 👌🏻

Hi Mike, another great video. Could you put a fuel filter in the original pump and then, as you said, make the new pump look like a filter. Then it won't look like it's got two filters. Have a great week.

      Hi Matthew
A good idea but the inside of the pump is too small..I think it will be possible to hide or camouflage in some way where as its not visually an issue.. Still going through lots of test though.
Will keep you posted on the outcome!
      Cheers

Hey Mike, looking good, I'm just thinking, with the amount of effort you have put in to getting this car correct. I honestly think that you are better off buying another new bendix pump & making the banjo's ect look oem, that new pump looks more kia, the porsche to me. It's the last piece in the puzzle.

      Thanks Resto
Verdict is still out on how things play out.. More testing and careful observation.
Will let you know what I decide!
      Cheers

    Interesting video. Thank you Mike.
I may reach out to Mr Hardt as some manufacturers used Bendix pumps as external oil pumps for differential cooling I believe (Lotus for example). Does anyone reading this know if it was this model?

      Hello Andrew seasons greetings
Ive not heard of that but Lotus was pioneer in many many ways!
Mr Hardy would definitely know more on that
      Cheers!

@@MikesRestorations Hi Mike, in period, there were very few pumps available (SU, Bendix in Europe and possibly Holley and Mikuni (?),). In the official "racing" spec for the Elan included a Bendix pump (without a precise reference). The photos I have seen tend to confirm my suspicions!

Any possibility that if you gutted the original that you could fit small aftermarket pump inside the original housing and hook up inlet and outlet of original to the ports on the aftermarket pump?

      Hello Jeff
It's not likely as the piston differs in specs, Also the main reason the original pump can't be reused would be the counter wear inside the cylinder. The tolerance is critical to make them work. Not sure I'll even be able to get the newer pumps going again for the same reason. They are sensitive.
Thats mainly the reason I'm leaning more toward a modern style antiback flow pump. The Bendix pumps original and newer style do not prevent drain back. This will eventually prematurely over work them on start ups and eventually early failure.
More testing in the mean time though
      Great question !

@@MikesRestorations I was actually thinking if you could just use the Bendix housing with literally nothing inside it and fit the new style pump in it's entirety inside the Bendix housing. Fuel in to the input flange on the Bendix and a stub line on the interior to intake on the new style pump and same for output. Then it looks original and has performance of the new pump. But I fear that new style pump might not have a small enough diameter to fit fully inside.

Good Thought Jeff! The problem with the Bendix pumps it that the space inside the housing is extremely small. Nothing can be removed other than the filter and piston. If we could hollow it out you would defiantly be on to something!@@jeffhammond8969
