Making pierogi dough takess 15 minutes - tops. What takes the longest is stuffing the dough and making the final dumpling shape :P ("gluing the dough" :P )
Yano yes I am polish and I totally agree with you
yup that’s why I have to BEG my dad every Easter to make them😂 he hates trying to put it together haha
1:52 wow, Kara pronounced "żurek" very well! :D
6:36 because 'fish likes to swim' :)
Sweet cabbage you guys were eating is really kohlrabi or kalarepa in Polish. As far as the dough for pierogi, nobody pounds it for 2 hours. It has to be rolled thin in order to be tasty. Cool vid.
2hrs sounds iffy? It looks the same as wrappers for handmade dumplings, which takes only 10-15mins of vigorous kneading~
Dobrze
@@Azuriel855 It doesn't take long to knead but I would say pierogi are still quite labour-intensive to make... last time I made them it took me 1-2 hours.
@@ania5038 I would agree. I remember my babci, and 3 of my great-aunts making them for valia ( sorry I know I misspelled that) every year and they would make all of it including the fillings from scratch,
@@katelesniewski6105 You mean wigilia?
Hahaha, nobody steps on the cabbage with their feet anymore, that's like ancient history. Dough for pierogi can be made in a few minutes. There's so much other food you haven't tried, you gotta come back ;)
In Poland you must try, (these things you will never find in any other place, not like that):
Bigos
Gulasz
Placki ziemniaczane po wegiersku
Ruskie pierogi (best are fried, but hard to find in restaurants. usually they give boiled only)
Pierogi z grzybkami
Pierogi z kapusta
Gulasz piwny
Krokiety
Zchabowe z kapusta
Golabki
Lazanki
Fasolka po bretonsku
Salads for main dishes:
Salatka z czerwonej kapusty
Salatka z selera i marchewki
Soups:
Barszcz
Zupa ogorkowa
Zupa pieczarkowa
Zupa pomidorowa
Other than dishes (stuff great for bread):
ogorek kiszony (fermented pickles)
kapusta kiszona (fermented cabbage)
bialy ser (fermented white cheese)
kielbasa and szynka (there are so many awesome smoked sausages and hams!)
Sledz marynowany
Ruska salatka
Snacks:
Precel
Zapiekanka
Piernik
Sernik
Kapusniaczki
Czekoladki z nadzieniem mietowym (chocolate with mint cream, they are shaped like discs)
I went on Erasmus to Warsaw in 2019 and tried a lot of the things on the list.. I miss polish cuisine
And for dessert, try: stefanka, makowiec, chrusciki, plesniak, paczki, kremowka, szarlotka, babka, Ptasie Mleczko and Delicje!!!
Kara's Snapchat head was hilarious! 😂
big congrats on the 16000 subscribers!
@Jordy Zahir Wtf has that got to do with my comment from 4 years ago?
I'm so happy that you liked our food. Polad is beautiful country with great food
i didn't know we have such a tour in Cracov- great idea!
I'm married to a 2nd generation Pole.... first one in the whole extended family who is not. First thing i learned to love was pierogi, and also something I can't tell you what it is: bigos. We would go to the Polish Nat'l Home for Easter dinner of pierogi, kielbasa, bigos, thick rye bread, roasted potatoes. ( the Home is sort of like an Elks or Lions club, but the people must buy shares to be a real member. My hubby was gifted 1 share as a boy.) There is also a local Polish radio station and they would broadcast from the Home on Easter.
Each year I collected little Polish dolls and Pysanki, which are decorated eggs, from the craft tables, that were covered with beautiful laces, embroidery and other lovely handmade things.
I ate the poppyseed rolls every Christmas growing up. They are so yummy.
Darn, I love Poland and its food!! My wife is from Poland and that was the best thing i ever did...
We all make pierogis at home ;) I actually don't like those from the restaurants.
I love kielbasa and pierogies!
you know
"Pierogi" is already plural. Singular is "pieróg"
This is true.
POLAND FOR LIFE
My favourite has to be Bigos!
You've created a monster! I can't stop watching your vlogs jajaja
You're so blessed for having each other! You make a great couple!
Ditto
I’ve gone on a few food tours in Europe. My favorite was in Madrid by Devour=Spain. They now have tours in several cities in Spain plus Paris and I think Rome. Spain has Tapas. Great concept. Buy wine or beer and get a small portion of food. Go to another spot and do it again. Spend 10:euros and you’ve had 5 drinks and dinner. Amazing. Love the idea of tapas.
I really enjoyed watching your food tour. I am currently in the process of creating my own here on the coast of California! I like hearing what you like about it. It was very helpful!
(I'm binge-watching your old videos) I went to Krakow three years ago in March 2015 and I also went on a Polish food tour! I think it might've even been the same one because I recognized a couple of the restaurants. Food tours are awesome!
I've been watching you since your trip to Thailand and now you're in my country! I'm from Warsaw :). Hope you will visit Warsaw sometime - we have much to see and there's so many other tradicional dishes to try!
P.S.
Actually we do have pickles and lots of things in vinegar :D - cucambers (but pickled in salt are more popular), peppers, mushrooms, onions, garlick ,pumpkin, herring - even fruits like pears :).
They've meant black vinegar like in the UK. We dont use it. We use only the white one.
Coming to Poland soon! Would love to know what other traditional dishes you think are a must try when someone visits :)
My beautiful country! Glad you travelled there.
Tak samo
Yaaayy! This is your very first food tour!! 😁😁😁 I’ve been watching all your previous vlogs (my first was your Everest Mission :) and since then love catching up on all your videos and I’m loving all of them) 😊 So glad you guys stumbled upon this food tour idea then, and now we can all look forward to a Kara and Nate food tour across the World 😄😄😄
Lots of love,
Esther :)
Hahah yes this was our first one!!!! We had no idea how many we would end up doing 😉❤️
was in Poland last year. For same service quality or items like in London or Milan i had paid 3 times less. Lovely food and hotels, views. Cracow is fantastic
I loved the beginning of this video where it was you guys describing what you did without going into too much detail, the snap chat laughing was so funny.
Food tours seem like an awesome idea! :) I am a new sub catching up - hope to see more in the future!
Kara and Nate...love your videos. I think I'm halfway through your videos.
You guys are awesome! I am a Californian and fell in love with this part of the world, so moved here 9yrs ago. It's been amazing. hit me up if you guys ever decide to travel back through Slovakia.
Interesting tour...no wonder that the tour guide has been doing this for 9 years now! :) Have fun and stay blessed.
My auntie and I did a food tour in Corfu, Greece that was incredible! Totally agree it's the best!
You seem very open-minded and open to new flavours! You have a mature approach to trying new flavours :)It's a pleasure to watch.
Loved this. Ive got family in Kraków. Pierogi is my favourite food!
This really is one of the best channels on CZcams, me and my 9 year son watch you every day! Keep on traveling and producing your excellent videos :)
I love the added interactive was to the outro page! Great idea!!
omg a pierogi is hands down the best thing you can eat in a polish meal, ya'll had allllll the classics I'm in love i need to do this tour haha

One of my favourite tours of a new city :)
Przyjedź do Polski, dadzą ci kalarepę xDD

xDD śmieszne
thank you so much for sharing this video so amazing an very beautiful with all the flowers have a great time se you
When you get back home you can find pierogies in the freezer aisle of grocery. I sautee mine with some olive oil, butter, garlic, and some onions so good.
Yay! You reached 16,000 subscribers! I feel sad for the millions out there that don't know what they are missing.
Earkid two years later and they’re nearing 700k! They’ll get into the millions before we know it
And almost a million today
1.19 million today ahah
2.56 million today
Now 2.8m
I think this guy is best tour guide so far!
Love your vlogs!! And all the eating you guys do ! 😁😁
Mmmmmm. Pierogies fried with vegies and served with a dollop of sour cream. Yummo! :D
Awe so cute Kara saying "we're doing a food for tour, whatever that is" 😂
It's been like a lil TV series. The guests have been like a fun lil addition to the channel and now I want Spin Off shows 😆 But the main cast will always be my favourite 😛
Pickled soup and pierogies are AMAZING
Love it... prefer to learn culture through food!
Awesome, love 💖 your channel👍
Hope you liked my home country!! Krakow is awesome! I’m from Łódź
that tour was free even the food kara and nate. awesome video if so do people tip at end
Im actually surprised how open minder you guys were about it. Very nice and real. We don't eat most of those foods on daily basis though, just to clarify ;-)
You're sweet couple, thank you for reviewing our great food!
Looked like a yummy and fun way to spend a day eating and learning about a bit more history... :) BIG HUGS FROM IDAHO :)
reminds me of when i lived in greenpoint brooklyn
Awesome vid!!:)
Love you all!
Haha so funny, had the same tour guide when I was in Cracow. He was a funny guy :)
Do you maybe remember how the tour is called?
Yum, yum!!!! The food of my people.
Cool. I live in Poland and now I wanna do this tour ;)
Now I'm hungry. :D
Hi hungry, I'm poland.
Pierogis are my absolute favorite food. Huge polish community in Buffalo NY where I live. I love cheese and potatoe and farmers cheese. But we also make nontraditional ones (chicken wing, spinach artichoke dip, Philly cheese steak) sooo good
Food are the expression and mirror of a peoples soul.
Pierogies are delicious. I imagine Food Tours to be the best part of any city tour because, well... FOOD. Oh, and the history isn't too bad either. 😊
By the way, RIP old outro. You and I had a good run. You will be missed, but always remembered fondly.
Kocham Krakow!
When Kara said dumplings I was like gurl no it's pierogi I'm polish to so yeah
Me when they finally did a Polish video 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀Yes finally
poppies were banned here in the uk too. if you had them growing in your garden you had to get rid of them or face legal action. my great gran refused to get rid of hers though lol and thankfully she didnt get caught x
I have never heard of them being banned in the UK. A quick Google search brings up no evidence of this. Can you be more specific about the ban? Opium poppies grow wild in Britain, although they are not native. You will find an entry for them in any British field guide to wild flowers.
Dick Head I can't be more specific I'm afraid. They were banned for years where I lived in Rhondda valleys.
O.K. Thanks for replying, anyway.
you can buy poppy seeds everywhere in PL
Borderline Rat Lady I’m not sure if they were banned in Latvia, too, but I remember in my grandma’s garden some local addicts snapped them all and since then we didn’t grow them anymore.
Me and my hubby love ❤️ Pierogies 😉😘👀
I'm going to Krakow next week! :)
ignore Chicago's "authentic" polish food.... youve got to go to Poland and have the real deal... cheese and potato pierogies, bigos and zurek (with kielbasa and boiled eggs)... it is dope! later in the evening go out for a cold glass of Zybiec (beer) z sokiem... and finish the evening with desert and coffee or polish gelato... Sopot, Gdynia, Gdansk, Mielno, Kolobrzeg, Wroclaw, Warsaw, Krakow, Zakopane, Duszniki in the winter, experience Xmas in downtown Warsaw.. I miss you Poland.
Thanks for the video.
jlb74a authentic polish food from Poland is the grossest food I have ever ate
Jlb74a you know your stuff all of the things you listed are delicious
Very good. 🖒
Visit Ganesha Utsav in Bratislava for lunch...it is an Indian buffet place...amazing food! I think it is just 5 Euros for all you can eat.
Very Nice Videos.
Kara and Nate - where do you get the music for your videos? do you buy it or download free from Internet?
You seem to be getting more and more views now! Noice job!
4:31 it is kalarepa which is a turnip.
I love Poland 🇵🇱♥️
You've totally sold me on food tours. They definitely seem like the best way to experience local cuisine. I've also heard street food is a good way to do that, but in many countries you have to be careful since our "delicate" digestive tracts can't always handle the more exotic dishes. I laughed out loud watching Nate take a shot of vodka followed by HERRING. Ha ha! The latter is definitely an acquired taste, whether salted, pickled or just served whole and raw as they do in the Netherlands. There is a large Polish population here in Milwaukee, WI where I live, and we have at least one Polish restaurant which I've been to. They serve bigos, homemade pierogis, the pickle soup you had, and also another traditional soup called "czarnina," which is cold duck blood soup served with spaetzle and raisins. An interesting experience...and not for the faint of heart. Excellent video!
Foodie tours have become quite popular now.
There is one more place worth seeing while in Krakow: its the „Wieliczka” Salt Mine, which is one of the largest tourist attractions in Poland, registered on the UNESCO list and visited by over a million tourists every year. You can get there by a local bus
Super 😍
Kara, you are right! they do need those type of free food tours all over the place, Vietnam would be nice ;o) have a safe journey you two :O)
Bratislava is only a step away from Vienna. I'l hope you will visit. It's my favorite City and home town :) But also go to Prague it's also a wonderful City :)
Pierogi are so delicious!
Very good info thnx
We r heading to Kraków next June
Apart from the vodka I think we'd enjoy the food tour
Looking fwd to the Kolbasa and pierogi
We had great pierogi at the markets in London ...Camden lock
Thnx again
You don`t have to wait till June. Now polish golden autumn starts. If only you see warm temperatures you can go for hiking in the mountains. Prices will be lower then in summer season. Try Silesian Beskid or Klodzko Valley. Ofcourse you can go to famous Zakopane resort in Tatra mountains but may be fully booked and crowded.
Hi! We are visiting Krakow this fall. Who and how did you book your food tour? So excited!
hi, you can google "food tour Krakow", there are plenty of results, but if you want the exact same one as in the video you can recognize it by the logo that the tour guide has on his tshirt. It's like the second search result probably.
Me living in Poland near Krakow. Me seeing this video. They were there?!
Hahaha, what a surprise that you learn through food :) You are cute!
Was this all free?! So amazing!
as far as I know tour cost $10
Kara championing food tours after 5 shots of vodka was worth the price of admission on this vlog. LOL
Hi Kara and Nate! I'm really enjoying your video's, I recently stumbled on the video you did from Monowi, Nebraska! I've since been working my way through many of your videos. I am supposed to be going to Poland (and Germany, Austria, and Czech Republic) this summer. I'm curious what the name of the food tour was that you did (if you even remember). I'd love to do something like this! Thanks :-)
Please come to Wroclaw! I'll be your guide it's even prettier than Cracow!
Pozdrowienia z Polski z Czestochowy
Look awesome. How much would you suggest donation to guide with this type of tour?
+Pjuong le. Get known how much your travel agent charges and I will do a better and cheaper agenda for the trip to Poland for you. I am native Pole, living in Poland. :-)
at about 4:30 you guys trying kohlarbi, not sweet cabbage!
lol my Great Grandma was from Poland. We just call it potato soup. I don't know what side she was coming from because we use bacon.
Onetrip Vietnam is a food tour. You should check out The Best Food Review Show on CZcams for more info about this....would love to see you guys do this tour.
Nice
Beets are a root, same as carrots, turnips, rutabagas. In USA we say beets, but other countries say beet root.
My sisters in laws are polish and the amount of chocolates I get from them are all delicious.
Did I hear Bratislava???? The green fairy!!! Please someone else tell me they understand my reference
