  • I have been asked to make this video a number of times. In this how to video I take a JPEG file from Google and bring it into Easel using the Image Trace App. So, no Inkscape and no SVG from Inkscape. This is all done in Easel. I used a 60 degree vbit with a depth of cut at .04 inch including doing a finishing pass. I also show how I painted the vinyl.

    I know this an old but Excellent video Paw Paw is one of the Very Best teachers and Easel for Me is the Best design software people should get over the not free part because Easel is the easiest software I have used and I gladly pay 25 dollars a month. At 25 a month I can carve literally anything I want for 8 years to equal the cost for Aspire. I design and carve signs cutting boards trays basically anything My mind can think of. So I believe Anyone that wants Easy should not discount Easel Simply the Best for Newbies!!

      Thank you very much for sharing this information. I still use Easel for many projects. And yes, I use VCarve Pro quite a bit. I still do not have Aspire.

    You can clear coat before cutting/engraving to reduce the paint absorbing in the vinyl.

      Yes, that is very important to do to prevent bleeding of the paint.

      If the controller is GRBL you should be able to do it. The basic Easel is Free but not the Pro version.

      If you are trying to download a file from easel to you computer, then, go to file. In the drop down menu you will see a download Zip tab. You can download the entire file or selected work pieces.

      Have you tried the image trace selection. On the left side of the screen there is a menu, the last icon is for importing files. svg, gcode, dfx, image trace. Give that a try

    Is it Free to download but we have to purchase the bits to create gcodes ? I tried , but I couldn't find my own simple (V shape 3.175 , 30 degree) bit 🤔

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 3 lety +1

      For a long time Inventables offered four free days of Easel Pro for account holders. Effective July 21, 2020 Inventables ended the four free days for anyone who opens an account after that day. You do get thirty day free trail of Easel Pro and then you would have to purchase Easel Pro if you want to continue to use it.

    how did u upload a jpeg? it only allows svg files on mine

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 5 lety +1

      Two ways that I use. First, use Inkscape (free). Import your image and do a bit trace map. Save as a SVG file. Second, in Easel use Image trace. Import your image directly into Easel. If it will not open then most likely there are open segments.

    What is your feed rate, plunge rate and depth per pass?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Před 5 lety +2

      First, thank you for your question. The feed rate is 50 inches per minute, the plunge rate is 9 inches per minute and the depth per pass is .04. The total depth is .06. That will give you on the second pass a .02 cut which is a nice cleanup pass.
