Star Wars Outlaws is an upcoming Ubisoft published title being developed by Massive Entertainment that is set to release at the end of August 2024 and while we haven't seen much recent gameplay they did release a story trailer with the release date and information about the different editions of the game so I decided to look into the game further and I'm not happy about the stuff I've seen.
From an online connection needed to install the game to season passes and the cost of the biggest edition along with other things too, this is a kick in the teeth to gamers and Ubisoft need to stop with these awful anti-consumer practices. Well Ubisoft did state the "Gamers should get used to not actually own their games" This just proves it.
We need to vote with our wallets, or we'll get more of this and worse. This is the message Ubisoft is sending: "Pay us $100+ for your game license, peasants." It's up to us to send a message back that they will either pay attention to and alter course, or fold as a business. The only rational reaction to this is to not buy from them, at all. If you tolerate everything, you stand for nothing.
What sucks the most about this is it’s Star Wars..like no other franchise gets ruined more than us Star Wars fans. The assets from this game genuinely look like it would have been good for a sorta mmo or whatever the genre is called. You and ur friends can go to the canteen get missions do raids bounties ect for better gear but instead we got this?
Nothing but greed again, and something ill never accept.
Giving them business is like rewarding bad behaviour, and cant in good conscience do that

I just don't get what they were thinking in regards to having a season pass in a single player game - that's nothing more than milking the playerbase.
Couldn't agree more. Devs tryin to make a great game. Publishers and suits tryin to pick a fight with the players.......
Many good points in here: price point, battle pass, digital licensing. Another shining example of why I don't buy AAA games anymore, ESPECIALLY NOW WHEN WE SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE WITH A GAME LIKE HELLDIVERS 2.

I hear their next game has a term in the EULA where, upon download, you consent to a Ubisoft thug coming to your residence on a weekly basis and holding you upside-down by the ankles to shake you to see if any coins fall out of your pockets.

Ubisoft has done these "Special Missions" for years.
Look at the Classified Missions for the Year 1 Edition players in Division 2
I was on the edge of getting this game the weekend but at £120, I held off, thought I would wait for you to do your take on it. I think when you spend that kind of money you shouldn't be paying much more for anything else. I think these games rewards are pretty shite now, you have to do some ass hard mission just to get a cosmetic jacket or you are paying more money just to have a particular outfit. Shocking! Be interesting to see how it plays Bill. Look forward to that content 👊

2:16 they have to be able to tune the combat so you have to get the season pass. That's why it's online only
Ubisoft continues to do ridiculous things -- I remember when they had cosmetics (different clothes) for Far Cry 5, a game that is in first-person. So there was no way to see your clothing -- it was only for when you played co-op, so your team mate can see it (and possibly get FOMO and buy their own DLC clothes)
That was the same in Far Cry 6 as well. It makes no sense but Call of Duty does the same thing for Warzone
I'm really glad you covered the always online requirement, allot of other content creators didnt pick up on this one. For me, a single player game, with always online is not something that im interested in right now... especially when there are so many good games out there
I feel sad for the Massive E. it’s great Swedish game developer. I’m afraid this will be there end and I don’t want that. I will still buy a standard version but it’s horrific how long Ubisoft will go.

My take on it is , the game looks pretty good , however , ubisoft leave a bitter taste

This game should have been designed like, The Division. You start off with 4 different classes that each have their own specialty along with specific heavy weapons . Open world with missions designed to unlock more abilities & weapons. Then with each new season introduce 4 new characters & maps. Thus expanding your options. Instead they treat this franchise like a prostitute with micro transactions. Solid review BTG!!

Preordering is so fucking useless these days. It made sense 25 years ago when stores would RUN OUT of PHYSICAL COPIES, but to preorder something digital that can't run out, then you get a pile of shit and moan about it it's your own fault.
SP Games should be Cheap to buy sure you could say for each DLC there is a small Uprise in Price. But the Base Game should have it all and stop at the 60$ Price Mark now you can easily double that + futher down the Line when DLCs come you can pay another couple 30$ times..
All in all if they want a good Star Wars Game they should make it for every Customer some really can't afford it Speaking at the 3 World People who Earn Maby 200$ Per Month but the Game is that amount.
Pre Order is the worst you can do as the Average Consumer.. Sure if you want a new game and have the Money buy buy buy so another game gives you a couple Hours of Time waste..
Disney is For Young and Old but just the High Prices arent making sense.
My Understanding they Try to find the Perfect Line People are willing to Pay A couple of Big Money Whales or Multiple Smaller ones who buy a cheaper game.. It is like a company what sells Bread at 30€ Per KG and another smaller one the same Bread for 10€ Per KG just because they make a better Price and not abuse their choice to find the Right one.
Over the Years Games got Expensive from 50€ You got it all to Now over 150€ and still have DLCs in the Future

I'm one of those idiots who buys everything, but after being burned by broken, incomplete, or simple cash grab lazy design so much in the last year, I'm not getting it even though it looks good. Season pass for a SINGLE PLAYER game? Story content locked behind a $40 pay wall? $130 for the full thing? You can buy the full game of Helldivers 2 for the price of the DLC of this game. I guarantee you will have a lot more fun. I'm not supporting this crap anymore, because the more we support it the worse these habits will get.

I dont know why you al complaining know assinscreed origins odessy valhalla and mirage had exact the same things extra missions behind a deluxe or golden edition but it was never a problem because if you play the game you earn ubisoft points for free and you still can play that mission and get the outfits weapons xtra

this game so far seems like auto battler. also there is nothing star wars feature that i can see. after playing jedi survivor this looks like some knockoff. dont talk about it just avoid. the less recognition it gets the better.

It’s my job to buy games and if I buy it, I can tell people if it’s actually worth the money or if they would be wasting money, something I’ve done on and off for years and I’ve saved some people a lot of money
They are trying to make their overpriced Ubisoft + subscription look like a better value prospect by outrageously overpricing their games. They also throw in the 3 days early access to entice Twitch streamers and CZcamsrs to preorder these bundles in order to drive views to their channels. The sheer volume of streamers and CZcamsrs competing for early views will support this anti-consumer garbage for years to come.
