- Hi All!...Today we'll do a little Gelli Printing to kick things off!
I have a beautiful and easy technique (great for those who are new to printing) they make the perfect "background prints" for collage or further stencil printing, once dry. I call it my "Mark Rothko" technique after the famous color field artist who's paintings I have admired and been inspired by for many many years.
Have fun with this technique, create lots of beautiful papers we will use these in our future pages, Next Week I show how I'll use the backgrounds with the March "Collage Bundle" PrintAbles!
This March Pack was free only during the Month of March, it is still available at the normal price of $6, . This is a new project that I'm excited about! I've assembled an awesome design Team, "Robyn McClendon's Gelli Team". We will all come to you monthly with projects from our studios using many various techniques and the monthly "PrintAbles". robyn-mcclendon.teachable.com...

Love these Arteza paints. Wasn't sure about them until I saw Robyn use them.
Gosh, i only ever used my gelli plate once with not the best success. But this makes me want to get my gelli plate back out and go to town. Thank you so much.
Just beautiful!

I just love how it keeps getting better and better! You are awesome!
Thank you for the printables 💕🎨💕

Thank you for the free printables. I've just printed them and love them all.
Thank you so much for your generous gift to get us started!!
Thanks for the goodies Robyn and thanks as always for sharing.
My kind of printing and altered journal process. Always used background papers and added to it. So much fun.
So beautiful. Thank you for the freebies Robyn, you are so generous. I’m in the middle of reorganizing my craft room. I better get busy and finish so I can Gelli print! Have a fabulous week.
omg u have got to be the only person on here that i learned valuable gell printing from........was about to give up......your way of explaining and even the grace in your voice led me to not give up.....and in NY its 8am........usually in a coma still LOL...THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR SHARING!!!!!!! Cant wait to start again it will add so much to my mixed media college
Hi Lisa, I'm up early here in AZ...lol working on a new online workshop and saw your comment, it brought a smile to my heart, so glad you didn't give up and you enjoyed the session, here's to loads of more fun with the Gelli plate! Thank you!
Robyn... just got back from a Dollar Tree /Walmart scavenger hunt and had to start using materials right away. I grabbed a Folk Art Metallic paint..Peridot, along with a Pearl White and a green Color Shift. All I can say is..Metallic.Peridot might be my all time love! It's so luminous and transparent on the tissue paper and paired with Azo gold and white mixed, or Azo and Pearl white ......well. Heaven!!! 😍😍
OMG...Love the combos I know they're gorgeous! xoxo
Love these prints! Love this project and plan on doing it once I get moved. All my gel printing plates and paints are packed up and I'm really missing them. Was kind of mezmerized, too, by your gorgeous turquoise beads.
I made my altered book this morning. Not perfect but it will be fun!!
thank you so much for the course!
Thanks Robyn!
All those beautiful metallic paints ✨✨✨ I’m loving them!! Looks amazing on the black tissue paper 📄 Your jewelry is also so beautiful to look at while you’re working! Thanks for sharing, ☮️ Stacy
I just ran across this video and I'm captivated! I need to try this. Yummy is the perfect word.
Thanks a bunch, you are so good to us! Am excited to work with you leading the way.
Thank you Robyn.
Oh my goodness. I loved this so much, I ran to my gelli plate, which I've never, never, ever had luck with. I don't have a lot of the paints you have, but I do have a few, plus other matte paints. I played for a couple of hours. I didn't have the white tissue, but I did have some craft paper colored tissue. I got some gorgeous prints. GORGEOUS!!! Have no idea what I'm going to do with them as I'm new to your channel, but what I've seen so far has pulled at my heart strings. Can't wait to see and learn more. Thank you
Hally Clements Wow Hally I’m so glad you had success! We are doing an altered book project with the prints. Mostly abstract collage checkout the playlist for preparing a book and join us! :)
Great colors
Thank you Robyn!,
Thank you Robyn, great time watching and learning … truly appreciate your talent 💞 I’m trying to download your printable on teachable and I’m send round and round and can’t get anything to download. That’s so disappointing as I love all your prints … thanks anyway 😊
Thank you Robyn, for the lovely downloads! I really enjoy your videos and look forward to each one. I worked with tissue paper and gelli plate today and I found a Rolodex at Goodwill for $3.00. You are an inspiration for someone who is trying to loosen up and enjoy the process. Thank you again!
Awesome 😍😍👌
Robyn I just found your channel and I love your gelli process. I don’t always want to use stencils so this is perfect. I enjoyed this
Oh my word, these gelli prints of yours will thrill the heart of any color junkie. I’ll be down in my studio making gelli prints-what else!-if anyone needs to find me . . .
Thank you!
This is so so good! I can't wait to get to my gelli plate!! I really love the metallics on the tissue!! These will be so good in future journal pages!! Thank you for the inspiration and sharing. Love it!!!! Excited for your July papers!!
Penny Love Thx so much Yes the tissue is awesome with Metallics 🥰
beautiful
I'm a Rothko fan and your gelling prints are gorgeous! Thanks!
Thx! :)
Thanks, Robyn! Was just about to ask a question when you answered it! :)
Thanks so much for the tutorial!! 👍🏻👏🏻💜😃
Absolutely! I'm already having fun with this project so much so that I may have to put an occasional mid week video into my schedule for our CZcams project!
Robyn McClendon your creativity has sparked some ideas within me! I personally am not interested in utilizing this technique for a journal at this time but would like to incorporate it in the artwork I am currently making. I have to get a gelli plate and some brayers first. Imagining the water backgrounds I can make with this process!😁
Haven’t found my book yet, but did find a good old dictionary for using pages to print on!
So glad you are back Robyn. I'm on board and ready with my book. I'm Gelli printing my Rothko backgrounds this afternoon, can't wait!
Awesome!
Thank you, Robyn, for the printables ..... they are wonderful!!
Kim how did you find your way to the printable? I clicked on her link and it took me to her page to join?
Gerrie Kay Church ... I am sorry this is so late coming. You need to sign up for teachable... the printables are listed as a product to purchase but the cost is free. I hope that helps.
Kim karlene How do I sign up for teachable? Is this on her website? I’m already a Patreon
Oh my goodness💞💞💞..just gorgeous prints!!..I'm cooking dinner and trying to gelli print in between..lol..see watching you always gets my creativity flowing🤗🤗😘..Thank you for the awesome download..really quick and easy printing💖💖
Lol...Tiff I know that feeling of having to do for the family but all I want to do is Studio things! I'm so glad you love the prints I'm having so much fun doing these I already have next months ready and can't wait to release those, so I can play with them openly :) xoxo
Hi Robyn! Love these Rothko type gelli prints... I call mine Gelli Joss papers, especially the metallic ones!
You guys know I'm a big lover of Joss Papers and with the Metallics you really get that look! :)
Haha. I found a thick book that I bought from the dollar store a while back to do this and decided I need to read it, lol. So it’s back to the dollar store for me. Must pick something that doesn’t captivate my interest haha. Great video Robyn! I love this project!
Lol...In fact I've had that happen to me before!!! xoxo
Oh my goodness! I am so glad I found you, you are amazing! I have my book ready to go, I have a gelli plate and lots of paints. I'm late to the party but looking forward to working along with you :)
Claudia Reuther oh Claudia so happy you’re inspired and Welcome 😊💫✨
I found you through the #passthebrush, and got a set of your prints led. Oh my goodness, I followed your tutorial with them and I am so excited. My results using them are fabulous. First time I’ve actually liked my prints, and can’t wait to do more. Thank you so much!
The video is fun, but what I really liked were your rings and bracelet. I love to make jewelry, but I haven't made a ring yet. Now off to enjoy the rest of the video. Forgot to say thank you for the free downloadables.
Lol....Jnett, A girl must have priorities!! xoxo
Awesomeness. So cool! Having trouble getting the downloads to work. Can get to the page but wont't click on to download. Had an issue with my sign in. Had to reset my password. Strange happenings. Thanks for your help.
Just happened to stumble upon your channel, perused through your channel and liked what I saw. I love to Gelli print! Very addictive! Loved watching this, new subbie here, would love to be CZcams crafty friends.
Paper in this video! Thanks
yaaaaa
Thanks, Robyn! Your prints are "yummy" as you like to say. I had to get all 10 color shifts after seeing you use them previously, so I am ready to print. I went to the Dollar Tree to get a book the other day, and when I started to pull the pages out I noticed a lot of x-rated content! LOL
Thank God we plan to cover the pages...lol :)
I love your stained tissue paper!! Would you consider doing a tutorial?
Sure its vey quick, I'll show in an upcoming video! xoxo
Wondering if you ever use deli wrap. I get 12"x12" squares (unfolded) at Smart & Final here in San Diego County. It would keep you from having to cut your tissue. Makes beautiful prints.
Going to the library to get books 😂. They didn’t appreciate my artwork when I returned them. I thought math books were greatly improved with prints.
I can't believe you printed on a book that did not belong to you. That puts you in the same category as someone who graffiti' s a public building. Very inconsiderate.
The pages are beautiful and will be watching your journal making! I have downloaded the pages but can't separate them. How do you do that?
Loving your Rothko type gelli prints! So easy but really effective. Definitely going to have a go myself. Btw, I went to the download link but it took me to the February freebies instead of the March ones (the gorgeous blue ones). Am I doing something wrong? xo
Excited about the process with yummy papers! I have a question though. The pages in my book turned out relatively thick, so when I tore out the amount of pages like you said, the gaps seemed rather big, more than in your book. Now I am wondering if working with the thin tissue papers will build up enough thickness between the pages. Should I use normal printing paper for this first step and collage with tissue papers later? Or should I find another book? I would appreciate your opinion on this, thanks. I love the work with tissue paper and have started already using it more lately.
Yes! use this process on both types of paper and then you play with them both, but you'll be fine because well be doing so much collage you'll fill up those gaps as we progress through the structure :) xoxo
@@RobynMcClendon thanks Robyn
Yesterday I had a couple of hours merrily printing away with whatever colour & type of acrylic paint I have in my stash. They're not as nice as your paints and the prints are ...a good try but not good enough! 😲 So maybe I will do some more today. Oh, forgot to mention that the title of my book is "Mine". 😘
Oh I love that, well how appropriate as you've used what you already had to get started "Mine" and I'm sure the prints are beautiful, we are always our own worst critic! :)
ps Love your rings ..Take them off your gonna get paint on them..
Which paper are you printing on right now?
Thanks! Love your work!❤️
Hi Susan, I'm Gelli printing on $Store tissue paper, for wrapping gifts....Any tissue weight paper works really well for this technique of creating transparent layers but you can print also on regular copy paper as well I often will do a mixture of paper weights so that they can be used in various ways! Thx for asking! :)
Thanks so much!❤️
Do you ever cut the top off your paint tubes to get all of it out with a pallet knife?
youpi ! I prepare yet 3 books ;))))))
You're Awesome, I was thinking we'll make one in your garden this summer from all the things we gather from the fleas, with lots of Prosecco! xoxo
look at that :)))
ah the celadon :)))))
@@monmetierestcite Yes, it's the best! Did I give you any of that color when I last visited?
of course , specially those metallics . Monday, i go to "tissue paper" , papier de soie en france ;)))) . Mille bisous . I wait you ;))))
@@RobynMcClendon
Thanks for the great tutorial and for starting this project. I'm ready to go! But, I can't get the printables (They're beautiful!) I'm on my laptop and I signed in and out. I get on the page named Design Team March Printables but still no way to download. What else can I do?
Nancy send me your email and I'll dropbox them to you! xx
@@RobynMcClendon You're such a sweetie Robyn! Thanks for all you do! laskaris.nancy@gmail.com
Hey Robyn, when you say at my link below, where is that, please. What does it look like?
Robyn, what kind of glue did you use with point applicator? To glue pages together in the book
I m using Art Glitter Glue :)
Robyn McClendon does it come with that metal tip? Thank you
@@gerriekaychurch658 Hi Gerrie, yes it does I really love this glue it's a little pricey I paid $20 for the set, it seems that the supplier is out but will restock soon... amzn.to/2VwNvQO
I bought some tissue paper from Amazon, no dollar store in Germany unfortunately, but the paper is so thin that it is very difficult to pull prints with it. The paper breaks very easily, but I guess even fragments will come in handy. Any tip how to best work with very thin tissue paper ?
Meanwhile I find my tissue paper works better when I cut it quite small.
Try not to leave the paper on the plate too long, that might help 👍😀
@@inekev.d.heijden3393 thank you, you're right
Love your video, but I can't get downloadables either. Help
If you're trying from an iPad it won't work you need to use a laptop or desktop, if you're on a computer try refreshing and log out of Teachable and then back in, see if either helps! There have been nearly 100 downloads already so people are able to download the pack...keep me posted :)
What is the name of the glue stick? Where can it be purchased?
Do you have to enter credit card info in order for the free download to become available?
No Did it prompt you? I've never known it to, when I make them free the most you'll be asked for is an email, and your email stays private to me, it just validates that you are a person not some sort of bot..... :)
@@RobynMcClendon It prompted me too and I paid $6 but I still could not download the images. I kept coming back to the same page no matter what I did. I logged on to Patreon and it didn't make any difference. I am enrolled in the design team course, I think, but no images.
I just went over again and I got diffferent prompts and now I have the images. Thank you so much. xoxo
@@scrapbagstudios oh no...it should have allowed access for free :( give me your email and i can send it via dropbox!
@@scrapbagstudios since you paid for this one remind me and next month i'll send you your pack via dropbox for free..ok! xoxo
I tried to get the free printables and the link did not work.
The teachable link does not work for me. This was an awesome gelli session.
Yes a few people seem to be having a problem, a few factors, you can't access it from an ipad or their Teachable password needed to be reset, or they're not looking in the correct place for the link to download. Send me your email if any of these still don't help and I'll send you the bundle via Dropbox :)
wanted to let you know that i clicked on buy course , went to create an account( says i already have one), anyways, may have bought it twice( once the buy course was clicked nothing seemed to happen. went back in to see about contacting you and now i can't log in.
Able2Rejoyce What name did u sign in with? Also log out completely and restart your computer. When you go back in go to all of your courses scroll down and you should see it....let me know
@@RobynMcClendon i had to go to teachable.com and log in and you are not showing as a class
@@RobynMcClendon It seems to be working now.
Sad reality about mark rothko and most of the abstract impressionist painters was they were not accepted and most had to hold other jobs until late in life. As Robert Motherwell said - no form of art worked so hard to gain acceptance as the abstract impressionists.
