as a degree apprentice myself, I fully agree with applying to as many degree apprenticeships as humanly possible - although it’s a grind
Jazakumullahu kheyran brothers! Your videos give me hope that i will secure one inshallah!
Wa iyyakak, Insha'Allah you will!
Love this!!!
Do a video on top tips for people starting one in September brother ❤
Do you reccomend me to work at somewhere like Iceland for experience, or simply rely on job related voluntary experience
i have a visa that gives me the right to work in the uk (not student visa), however still every company i apply to says i am not eligible for an apperenticeship because i havent lived in the uk for 3 years. yet when i check online the only eligibility criteria for apperenticeships is valid visa and gcse/a levels. do you have any knowledge on this that could help? thanks , much love
Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the right to work via visas etc. I think the government website will give a general requirements list however the companies you're applying to will have their own requirements in terms of visa etc
Great video, could I please get the list of degree apprenticeships you applied for?
Thanks, you can find a list of some I recommend here czcams.com/video/ewalkAKRzVE/video.htmlsi=aeJHV21JmCAUkvuA
Hello Mahdi, I am currently in y12 sixth form, I was wondering when the right time would be to apply for degree apprenticeships. Now, when it has only been a couple of weeks, or in Y13. Furthermore, if I were to do a gap year, would I still be able to wait after being accepted?
The time to apply would be roughly October after you enter year 13.
"Wait after being accepted"? Not sure if this is what you mean, but since these applications are done through the company first rather than the university,
I don't they'll be as flexible with delaying acceptance.
Thank you so much for this video. I just wanted to know if it has to be level 6 apprenticeship?
No problem. Not sure what you mean by 'if it has to be a level 6 apprenticeship'. We were talking about level 6 apprenticeships in the video if that answers your question
@@maaahhhdi Hi there, thanks for the reply. I guess my question was a bit confusing. I meant, sometimes, I see level 4 apprenticeships so I just wanted to know if you guys were talking about level 6 ones. You answered it.
Brother the coding questions that you were asked on the interview , was it Alevel coding level or gcse and were there hard or easy ???
I don't know which category, the task itself requires GCSE level knowledge, but what they want is to analyse how you solve problems which involves thinking out loud.
Most interviews just asked to see what I have coded in the past - in these cases I showed my A level computer science project.
dye need to be doing a level comp sci to have any sort of chance?
Nope
what are examples of good courses to do to get software engineering experience
There were some good ones mentioned at 6:00. If you're talking about courses to help you learn, then pick a language like c# and follow along with a CZcams playlist - this is only one of many ways you can get experience.
Salam, do you need personal statement for apprenticeship. And is a cover letter a necessity
WaAlaykum Salam. You don't need a personal statement but you may need a cover letter for some companies.
Do you need the best grades in college when applying as I do btec IT
Not at all. 2 out of the 5 apprentices that joined with me did btech
salam akhi, around what time would u recommend a year 12 student to start first looking into apprenticeships and then applying and writing cv?.
Salam bro, you won't start applying for apprenticeships till September year 13. However you can still look into what oppourtunities there are, gain work experience (online work experience). I would also recommend writing your CV during the year 12 summer so it is ready for the start of year 13. Jazakallah
@@mohamedaiboud9966 If you apply in Year 12 September, does that mean that any degree apprenticeship that you apply for is starting at September 2024
@@mohamedaiboud9966perfect advice akhi
Hey Mahdi, I start my software engineering degree apprenticeship in September, I was wondering if you had any advice on the sort of skills I could be working on over the next month that would benefit me when I start? Been watching your videos for months and they've helped a lot through the application process, thanks 🙏
nathan, did you do a levels or btecs or ctecs, if possible id really like to know what subjects you did for a levels and CONGRATULATIONS
@@KobraNugget I took A level maths, computer science, and a BTEC in computing but I think for me the thing that helped in getting the position the most was the stuff I was doing outside of college. If you can show that you’re passionate about the work and that you’re willing to learn you stand a pretty good chance. The stuff outside of college doesn’t have to be super advanced, just small little projects that show you’re interested enough in the topic that you’ll do it in your own time and want to learn and progress your skills. Obviously tho taking relevant a-levels and doing pretty well in them will be the main factor, the rest will just make you stand out, and should help you in getting the offer. Good luck with whatever you choose to do🙏
@@nathanpspike9644 thanks so much for the tips, will be sure to take that into consideration. And one last question from me im just worried that my subejcts wont allow me to do software engineering degree apprenticeship: i do CTEC IT (Level 3), A level Economics and Sociology
Sorry for getting back so late, hope it's all going well now.👍
Hi, all i wanted to ask is, is there a big difference between Computer science engineering and DTS like i want to do apprenticeship in cyber security so will there be a big difference in what they teach and will it affect me in future jobs or my placements
Hi, with DTS you can specialise in cyber security which i personally think will benefit you more since you want to do an apprenticeship in cyber security.
@@mohamedaiboud9966once again, good advice akhi👍
@@mohamedaiboud9966 Alright thank you, appreciate it
@@maaahhhdi Thank you very much for making such useful content...
What a level grade needee for degree apprenticeship?
It depends what apprenticeship you're doing since the requirements change based on what company and uni/training provider
One more thing akhi, is a civil engineering apprenticeship process the same as any other?
I would assume so
whats ur other socials?
Salam akhi, what do software engineering degree apprenticeships think about virtual work experiences.
WaAlaykum Salam, any experience is good experience.
@@maaahhhdi alright, thank you brother.
Assalamualaikum brother!! I am an international student so is there any chance of me getting an apprentice? im looking to pursue in Bsc data science but my current A-Levels are Mathematics,Economics and business. What do you suggest?? How can i get a apprentice? JazakAllah.
عليكم السلام ورحمه الله وبركاته
Sorry akhi, I've had quite a few questions like this but I really haven't got a clue. I don't know of any international degree apprentices. You should enquire the companies you apply to. I'm sure they'll mention something like that in the description.
Considering dropping uni to start a tech degree apprenticeship. However I will be turning 20 in feb. Will my age make it unlikely to land a degree apprenticeship in?
I don't think age has anything to do with it. There are quite a few people in my uni cohort over the age of 40
@maaahhhdi that's very reassuring thank you
@@olivermellows2560any update bro?
Assalam O Alaikum, I am going to apply to some degree apprenticeships for software engineering, I have some experience with web developement, machine learning and Rest/APIs. My question is in the interviews what would you recommmend to prepare for? do they ask a lot about technical skills or make you go over code? Jezzakhallah and I hope you are well Alhamdullilah
وعليكم السلام ورحمه الله وبركاته
I highly recommend preparing your answer to common interview questions along with ensuring you are knowledgeable about the company you are applying for (mentioned in the video).
In terms of technical preparation, ensure you have any projects etc ready to show if asked. In my case I had my A-level computer project ready to show and explain in depth.
The code questions are usually quite simple, they moreso test your thought pattern rather than syntax understanding i.e how you problem solve.
You might also get some pseudo code tasks to again test your computational thinking.
@@maaahhhdi Jezzakhallah for the reply, Inshallah we both succeed👍
Salam un alaikum Mahdi brother
just wanna know that i am from India in my final year of UG so can i apply for degree apprenticeship program in UK (as on Google i saw that some are offering apprenticeship for 18 months in Data analytics)
Waiting for your response
Thankyou
Wa Alaykum Salam Akhi. I'm really not sure how the international system works (or if it's even available). You will have to contact the individual companies yourself and get an idea.
@@maaahhhdi shukran , looking forward to that.
Now how do u get a degree apprenticeship with bad a levels
Tbh a lot of them don't have very high requirements. They're typically lower Alevel requirements than uni courses. They focus more on things like interviews etc
Salam alaykum mahdi do you think you can sort me out with a degree apprenticeship at your company?
WaAlaykum Salam. If only it was that easy akhi. Best I can do is make dua for you Insha'Allah
@@maaahhhdi jazakhallahu khair akhi no worries
This was so helpful .Also when do you start applying for apprenticeships? Is it at the beginning of year 13?
Thanks. That's correct, most begin to open up around October (some even before that) so get your experience and CV ready well in advance.
When does KPMG open, I want to study at Queen Mary’s program. Also it should be alright to work for them since i’m not dealing with the Riba?
based on this hadith:
It was narrated that Jaabir said: The Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: they are all the same. (Narrated by Muslim 1598)
Asalamu alaykum brother may I ask how much you would earn after your degree apprentice on average and at what age would you roughly start your first main job after completing your degree apprentice.
WaAlaykumSalam, InshaAllah after the apprenticeship, you would earn the salary of a regular software engineer (i.e. not a junior salary) - the specific amount completely depends on what company and what area. In my area across all companies, the average salary for a software engineer is 48k and across all of England it is 50,548.
Most people would start the main job at 22 since that's 4 years after college ended.
@@maaahhhdibrother do you know any companies in the West Yorkshire region that do degree apprenticeships and do you have to work for the same company after the apprenticeship or can you opt to work for another company straight after. Jazakallah!
@@osmani3481 I live near London so I haven't got a clue about West Yorkshire, but there are companies all over the place so I wouldn't worry about that.
You do get a job offer depending on the grade you get. It's entirely up to you whether you take it or not.
@@maaahhhdi Alhamdulillah brother one final question sorry if you did mention it in your video I can’t fully remember but do you get paid even in the first year just starting even when you don’t benefit the company and will it be enough for me to purchase a small car using some of that money to get the car ensured so i can use it to travel to the company myself Jazakallah.
@@osmani3481 no problem, ask all the questions you need, it will benefit others as well Insha'Allah.
You get paid from the very beginning even when you are just being trained. Alhamdulillah I was able to buy a car (including insurance, tax, fuel etc) in my first year with that.
How long is your degree apprenticeship akhi
4 years
