    Mushrooms did wonders in my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Australia don't know much about these. I'm so glad they help you. I can't wait to get them. Really need a reliable source 🙏

      100% agree I used to have Psychosis and paranoid thoughts like "people thinking about me talking about me etc. Very odd behavior after getting off Adderall from 7-16. Antidepressants at 18-29. 31 now. I took way to much, but took about 20g of Gold caps (Psilocybin containing mushroom) I analyzed my entire life. The emotions that came out helped me understand behavior etc more. Wont ever need to do it again because I'm happy and contempt forever, but I wish more people did this to alter their perception of reality. Would help with healing much trauma

    When drilling into thin plastic, it's best to run the drill backwards. This avoids the plastic cracking and splitting on the drill's teeth, instead using friction heat to melt through where contact is made.

      I think you probably could grow anything in buckets at this inoculation ratio. It's basically taking a grow mix type ratio (40/60) and separating out it's high and low nutrient parts, and colonizing the high nutrient in sterile conditions, and then you don't need to bother with sanitation for the low nutrient part. I'm surprised there doesn't seem to be too much of a yield penalty here.
      It would be interesting to see masters mix separated out this way, colonize the soy hulls under sterile tech, then dump it in a bucket of sawdust.

    Very interesting substrate, i noticed its very common to use hardwood fuel pellets and wheat bran mixed together, but this video proves hardwood fuel pellets can be used by itself as well. • @folkfungi
      @folkfungi  Před rokem +5

      Let me know how it goes! Adding wheat bran without sterilization increases the chance for contamination. If your substrate becomes contaminated, try half a cup or less. But if you use a really high spawn rate, like the one used in this video, I think you can get away with using a decent amount of unsterilized wheat bran.

    • @18Hands
      @18Hands Před 8 měsíci +2

    Nice method thank you ! Did you try it with other than oyster mushroom ? What is the protocol after the first harvest for the next flushes, you just spray, no resting time ?

      Thanks! I've tried it with lion's mane and oyster mushrooms. After the first harvest, just continue to spray and keep things humid! My second flush for this bucket started about 5 days after harvesting the first one.

      Ideally, try to keep the humidity in the 80% to 90% range, but it will grow decently in the 70s.

  • @noedlesoup
    @noedlesoup Před 11 měsíci

    Thank you for showing how to grow them like this! I have been wondering though: is the humidity tent enough to keep the spores from spreading around the house, or is that not a concern with this type of mushroom (as long as you harvest it early enough)?

    • @folkfungi
      @folkfungi  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Thanks for watching! Lion's mane doesn't release its spores until the spines are quite long, and for taste, you'd want to harvest it well before that.

    Really enjoyed your video. Very informative. I've caught the mushroom bug! 🍄 I bought oyster mushrooms, put the stem butts to colonize the mycelium in coffee grounds. They are now fruiting beautifully! After watching your video, I ordered some Lion's Mane LC from a family run business on Vancouver Island. Then I went out and bought my own 8 lt Canadian Tire bucket! Some questions though. What do you think of putting 4 - 1" holes around the bucket? Should I add drainage holes in the bottom? Once the pinning begins, can I put the bucket in the shot gun fruiting station I made? If so, what do you think is a good humidity level? Hope to hear from you!

    • @folkfungi
      @folkfungi  Před rokem +1

      Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for the kind words! It makes me happy that you bought the exact same Canadian Tire bucket! I think four 1" holes would work great. And yup, a shotgun fruiting chamber would work nicely for this bucket. In terms of humidity, aim to keep it in the 80-90% range. Hope this is helpful!

    Edit - Found the answers to how many times you can harvest and reusing grain spawn:
    1) ~2 - 5 harvests (each subsequent harvest/"flushes", less fruiting).
    2) Sadly no you unfortunately can't add more pellets to keep it going :(
    Thanks again Spenser for all the videos, just subscribed! :)

    Nice informative video.
    I got one of the boxed already colonized substrate bags. Just cut a hole and you are ready to go. My concern is the humidity dome. It’s a flimsy plastic bag with holes and it collapses on top of the substrate block. Now that a tiny fruiting body showed up I’m worried the bag will sit on it (stick to it) and ruin the mushroom. This especially will get more problematic when the mushroom grows bigger. Is there a reason for concern or not. Should I eventually remove the tent or keep it on throughout the entire growing process?

    • @folkfungi
      @folkfungi  Před 7 měsíci +1

      The bag shouldn't affect the mushroom too much, especially if the bag is flimsy. I've used them quite a bit and haven't had that issue.

    I'm trying a slight variation on this method now! I didn't have enough grain spawn to do a 40% mixture, so I pasteurized aspen shavings meant for bunny bedding and used a spent Lion's Mane sawdust block to innoculate. I just broke it apart and sprinkled it over every handful of soaked aspen I put in the bucket. Hopefully it goes well and thanks for the inspiration!

    • @folkfungi
      @folkfungi  Před 11 měsíci

      When the spines are about a quarter of an inch long, it's a good time to harvest! To my understanding, it doesn't become more nutritious when the spines are longer. The longer they grow, there's a higher risk of the mushroom yellowing.

    Why don't you just add the spawn next to the holes? Doesn't a lot of it go to waste?
