I think I’m going to try to make a single staffed pre-shredder but I’ll drop the piece is the weather in the lawnmower and run the pre-shredder at about 50% capacity of the machine. This was just a prototype I set up to see if it was worth it. I learned a lot the main things are pre-shred, and make sure no steel, have lots of water pressure and flow, and break the water tension so the copper doesn’t float on top. Wow seems to work really well can it be scaled down for a smaller operation? Can I contact you about this. I’m in California what state are you in ?

    • @ProjectShopFl
      @ProjectShopFl  Před 4 lety +4

      I’m in south Flordia. Yes it can be scaled down. That was just a prototype, I was playing with to see if the concept would work. I have since taken that apart and with the knowledge I learned I an about to build a new compact unit witch will be faster, more efficient, and compact. That set up even having 3 harbor freight pumps did not have enough water flow. I am adding bigger pumps and vibration to the new setup. I will be making videos of the build.

    How big #AWG will it handle?

    • @ProjectShopFl
      @ProjectShopFl  Před 3 lety

      I use my wire stripper for anything over 12 AWG, but I’ve put 8AWG through it just to see if it would chop it. It did it but it didn’t like it and I’d rather strip it with my machine because I get more money for bright and shiny copper wire then copper chops. That granulator is a plastic granulator I just did a couple modifications to make it chopped copper. Thanks for watching

    How long do you pass the copper in water stream?what percentage of plastic remains in copper after final cleaning?

    • @ProjectShopFl
      @ProjectShopFl  Před 4 lety +2

      1 min per tray. 3 trays in 3 minutes . One 5 gallon bucket every 3 minute. Each 5 gal bucket of plastic copper mix has about 36 lbs of copper. 5 buckets of mix = 1 180 Lb 5 gal bucket of pure 99+% copper chops. So it could wash easily 5-600 lbs an hour. 1-2% loss in copper stuck to insulation witch I run again and recover some but have an idea to grind the insulation down further and run that with less water pressure.

    • @shishirkamat9182
      @shishirkamat9182 Před 4 lety +1

      Very effective system...what is the screen size in which the wire is chopped?

    • @shishirkamat9182
      @shishirkamat9182 Před 4 lety +1

      And how much do you chop the wire in an hour?

    • @ProjectShopFl
      @ProjectShopFl  Před 4 lety +2

      Not sure. Definitely not as fast as the sluice. Maybe 200 lbs per hour but I never checked. I always run the granulator while running my wire stripping machine, so I feed both as fast as I can

    • @ProjectShopFl
      @ProjectShopFl  Před 4 lety +2

      I’ll check but 1/8 was too big and 1/16 was too small so I think I custom made my screen by putting a pice of sheet metal on the inner part of the screen and drilled from the back side.

    • @ProjectShopFl

      How do you figure that? When I sell copper chops I get in between bright and shiny and number one copper. Maybe where you are it’s different but this is how it goes where I sell my copper. #1 bright and shiny, #1 copper chops, #1 copper, #2 copper, #2 copper chops

    Just wondering if you fed circuit boards into your hammer mill, can this separate out the copper, aluminium & tin solder ? I assume the board waist floats off the end ? Awsome to see you advancing !!!
