For those 3 minutes the place was silent and everyone was in awe of the young sentimental crooner. And ppl from all genres loved his style of music and knew who he was...a guy that got his start from music composed to a popular daytime drama which at the time had to have been watched by 25 or so milliin viewers, male and female. When I was a kid, the line up was Search for Tomorrow, Days, the show after Days that I can never remember (Alex K something was the villian's name iirc and he was really hot for an "old" guy to me as a teen), and then flip! Hell, I was Army Recon for the better part of a decade and most of my Strike Recon Team in the 101st Airborne packed into somebody's barracks room every chance we got, to watch soap operas. I had to convert a bunch of our snipers over from "Days of Our Lives" to the good soaps, but after that it was all good...Your tax dollars at work.

My early 90s childhood was pretty damn 80s. I recall these rare/deeper 80s hit songs still being played a lot in like 1993. Maybe its just longing for being a kid, but I really miss the innocent sound of soft rock pop music like this.
