It's related to inflammation. My wife has suffered with pmdd for 14 years and I tirelessly researched everything. I started thinking about going the holistic route and was referred to Dr Achina Stein. She has a video called "what if it's not depression" on CZcams and after I watched it, everything started to make sense. The majority of autoimmune and depression issues are related to our gut health, trauma and serious illness. My wife has returned to her self for the last 2 months after being bedridden for the previous 9 months, and I am so thankful I found this information.

I get super bad anxiety when i start thinking about coming out to my parents. I go into such a bad place at times that causes me to go into depression and it can last me days before i can tap out of it. It seems like i can never get away from the bad thoughts and bad out comes that could come with coming out to my parents. The thoughts have turned into me hurting myself at times when they burry me in depression. So thank you cammie, i will try taking some time to meditate and journal to try and release all the bad anxiety and depression that comes with the pressure of hiding who you I truly am to my parents. I love you so much.

I can’t even tell you how much this helps me. I’ve always struggled with my emotions the most when I start my period. When I was younger and would start to become emotional my mom would always “ask are you getting ready to start your period?” I use to get so frustrated at that question. I hated feeling like I wasn’t in control of my emotions just because of my cycle.
I’m about 5 days from starting my period and I woke up this morning so anxious and below the line. I just left work early today because I wasn’t feeling well, my energy was down, my anxiety is up, and I just feel sad.
So as soon as I get home I start breaking down crying because my anxiety makes me feel like the worst person for leaving work early because “I should be being productive” “why are you going home to sit when you should be at work”. I can’t even allow myself to relax at home and take a break because my anxiety is so high and I feel like I should constantly be doing something!! Ugh! It’s so frustrating!! Thank you for opening up about this and explaining it. I feel like I’m going to bring this up to my therapist because it’s been something I’ve struggled with since I was 15. I love you!!

I know this feeling. Its happened to me before.!😥so many times.. Having to leave work..yup been there.. Its hard because we need to work in order to survive. ,and we need to survive in our minds and emotions also in order to survive at work. Its crazy. But i believe the more we getto know our body the better our life can be. We are warriors. Even showing up to work is an achievement!💗💯Lets celebrate ourselves for that❤

we love a rambley video! thank you, you’ve definitely given me a lot to think about in other ways of dealing with things! sometimes i feel like my periods have zero effect on me and others it’s like i’m a different person, i’m on right now and the last 2 nights i haven’t been able to sleep and i’m just super emotional about everything & cant seem to stop crying 🙄 the pain side is the same, sometimes it’s nothing (like now i’m completely fine) and other times it’s crippling and like you i get it soooo bad in my back & down my legs & even in my calf’s sometimes! such a strange and shitty situation that we have to put up with! but thank you for opening up and sharing with us, you know how much i love you 💕💕

Cammie, I think you're amazing! You and several other CZcamsrs have honestly influenced me in positive ways. I'm 31 and just recently started getting my depression and anxiety under control. For most of my life I have often felt lost, and confused, and alone, misunderstood. Knowing that there are great people out there, like yourself, who are dealing with the same or similar struggles has really helped me feel better about my situation and become more accepting of myself. I am greatful to you for doing what you do and sharing your experiences with others. Im sure you've helped a lot of people. One more thing, everything you said made perfect sense to me. I love the way you ramble, I do the same thing and often wonder if Im making any sense lol 💚

its so coincidental that you just posted this now. i was just having such an interesting conversation with my friend about OCD and ADD and how I feel doctors just diagnosed me with anxiety because they were uncertain of my symptoms because I found it hard to verbalise them. I just find putting a label on something helps more than anything. I love this video, it was so interesting and I really appreciate you speaking out on all of these issues. I think its important people look into mental illness more and not just accept the first thing they're told, because I was diagnosed with so many different things it really confused me as i didn't know what was 'wrong with me' but after my own research, realising you can have so many symptoms of things which may not be visible to others, but really apparent to you i think i can speak to a professional being more informed so videos like this are so helpful for some people. For me, its OCD in that i will go through phases of obsessions about things either a person, film, book, subject or so on. and it will be so intense i won't be able to focus on anything else and people will call me out for it which is so embarrassing. People don't assume its OCD because they associate that with cleaning, but its the Obsession and the Compulsion which are overlooked so easily. It doesn't sound that bad, but it can also be obsessions with health, and this can cause weight fluctuations or weeks where I won't sleep out of the irrational fear of having a life threatening illness which is terrifying. Mental health is so important is essentially what I'm saying and regardless of a diagnosis, people need to take your advice on these tips such as meditation and yoga and drinking water and making lists, because regardless of your stability, these are healthy practices anyway. I feel like no one will read this, but if you do, this video is so important and its important to understand and care about mental health because it impacts your physicality too xx

Resignated with this so much. I also have ADD, had just about the worst year of my life and struggled with severe anxiety and depression. My primary issue is my lack of prioritisation, motivation and willingness do to things. I tend to self-sabotage with chronic procrastination. I saw a psychologist and she said I actually also have obsessive compulsive tendencies. I am an artist and a complete perfectionist with almost everything I do. She compared my way of going about things with washing a car. Instead of tending to what really matters, cleaning the inside of the car, I want to clean right about everything on the outside (occupy myself obsessively with unnecessary things, like you mentioned), because I'm too anxious to begin with what needs to be dealt with. I really do care and want to see myself succeed and take care of myself but I set up these stupid rules. For example, I have bought myself countless journals but for some reason won't use them unless my circumstances are perfect. I don't know. I don't understand it myself. We're all different in our own way, and love hearing how other people deal with their internal issues. Understanding what works for you and what you need to be your optimal self is so important! Would love to hear how you overcome your struggles❤

Marichia Gerber Marichia, list are your friends and not beating yourself up over things you can't control (but) understanding you can control aspects of any day with structured scheduling or list of what happens Monday fill it out on phone Sunday plan a week just better using your time management in ways that help you feel each day had an accomplishment - baby steps overcoming procrastination (and) absolutely the OCD is much more then people always cleaning or your definition fit perfectly.
You have a great understanding of yourself.
Am not sure if your currently seeing a Dr but maybe a med like Zoloft which has proven be very successful for what you described.
Mainly as others said balance some meditation or yoga maybe and YOU are your best advocate for what's going on and sharing that with your Dr so they truly understand your needs so life 3-6 months from now is nothing like it is today.
Sleep put away phone let the day go and breathe.
AND yessss all the above no doubt easier said.
      Be well 😊

I struggle from depression and anxiety but I always try to remind myself to take it one day at a time.
It sounds kind of silly.. but reminding yourself that despite how you feel right now, and despite the things going on today. Tomorrow can be different, you may feel a bit better tomorrow, and maybe the things that had been affecting you the day before won’t be relevant anymore.
I don’t know if this made sense, it’s just something that helps me, especially on the rough days.

thank you thank you thank you so much for speaking about your experience with PMDD. I’ve struggled with anorexia/my body image for years and I’ve finally made the connection in the past year between an extreme shift in how I treat my body and how negative I am about it (to the point of relapse) and how soon I’m about to get my period, and now I’m able to get that under control. I still have trouble convincing myself that everything is sooo interconnected and one thing can set off another thing even though I know, rationally, that is the case. So thank you so much for this, Cammie 💕

Having dealt with pcos and pmdd since the 5th grade, I know your struggles so so well. I’ve been on a plethora of different medications trying to regulate my hormones and nothing has helped me more than homeopathic treatments. My personal trainer taught me how to make a paste with bath salts that you can massage into your muscles to relieve aches and pains. It really helps on my extreme days. Essential oils work wonders on keeping me calm and collected when my anxiety and depression fight each other and cannabis oils/edibles bring me back to a functioning state of being on my absolute worst days. I’m so glad you made this video to help others. More people need to speak out about these types of things. I hate that it is still considered a taboo topic. You’re doing the lords work. XO

Good video! I really feel you’re so real and genuine. More than ever. It makes me so happy. I really can feel the happiness. I hope im right.
I suffer from a form of ocd thats called Pure O. Its about getting afraid of being the worst things possible and constantly trying to get rid of the thoughts. I hope to do a documentary of this some day. CZcams it if you want to learn more. No one really know about it if you dont work with it. So many people suffering without knowing.
It makes me depressed. I have depression back and forth all the time, with or without the ocd. Hate it. Its scary. Ocd and depression. Especially when people have no idea. Thinking its about being sad is so wrong. Its nothing about being sad.
I really liked what you Said about planing things to do when the days are the worst. I havent worked in many many years but tries to do small things here and there. But really liked to plan it more like you Said. Like. Save things to those days. So thank you! Just ordered cbd oil this week so hope that Will help in some way :)
Also. I have those cramps as well. Down to my frekkknnn toes!
Love from vegansistahh in Sweden :) /Erica

Oh and the worst thing. When having my inteusive thoughts and bad ocd i punish myself so hard. I dont allow myself to do anything. Eating right, use any beauty products, meet someone etc. I have this feeling along but it gets stronger when the ocd is worse. When my ocd hits I get the feeling that I don’t deserve to live because I thought/felt wrong/bad. Always the feeling that I’ve done something wrong. Something is off. I’m missing something. I’m a horrible person etc. I hate it.

Honestly thank you SO MUCH. I just got diagnosed with PMDD a couple of weeks ago - finally. For so long I genuinely questioned my sanity, it's literally hell on earth when I'm going through it. From the second I wake up, I'm absolutely infuriated over anything and everything. Even the sound of myself moving around makes me want to scream or punch somebody and my anger gets so bad that I literally lock myself in my room for several days purely so that I don't start giant fights with my loved ones for no reason, and frankly... so I don't hurt them because I know it's a possibility. It honestly makes me miserable. And I literally sob all day to the point where my skin feels like it's burning from the tears. I also suffer pretty badly with anxiety & depression, but nobody really guesses because I seem cheerful whenever I'm with other people. Thank you so much for being real and talking about it all

I also have PMDD along with PCOS which also causes depression and anxiety. It’s hard but I find that if I talk it out with someone it lessens very little. I try to have some hobbies too to distract myself.

For some reason in my second year of uni I've been struggling a lot with concentration and getting in the "creative zone" to do all the important stuff, and instead I'm watching tv a lot and zoning out, being somewhat lethargic. I had a traumatic event happen end of the summer that I think has had an affect on my mind and body drastically even though I've been trying to cover up the anxiety/ptsd/depression (since it's my only way of getting over what happened and moving on). This winter, as soon as the weather changed, I think my hormones must have gone out of whack and I had a touch of chronic fatigue where all I could do was stay in bed and sleep because I was so tired and weak in my body. I'm all of a sudden feeling a bit better now from that but it's odd because I've never got that before and I wonder if it's a side effect from the ptsd of summer trauma.
I do however believe that stressful situations can affect us in very mysterious, random, odd ways. These stressful situations are out of our control sometimes. I'm learning to just let it go and ride any changes like a wave, otherwise the more you resist it the worse it gets. I for instance couldn't help the traumatic experience I went through in summer, therefore I had no control whatsoever on the symptoms I recently displayed and so it was pointless me telling my body to just do the tasks I needed to do because my body and mind was running in automatic pilot mode in order to combat the stress I had built up from before. Sort of like Big Hero 6 where the robot automatically tries to help people heal, whether they like it or not.
My biggest issue is trying not to feel guilty about stepping back from tasks and making my anxiety/depression worse. This is more to do with fear of letting other people/myself down.
I also get really bad back aches on my period to the point where it makes me physically sick. And these days about a week before period starts I seem to get a wave of depression and frustration hitting me. I never used to get that feeling before last year, that's the weird part. But I've always had the intense back pains, I have to take paracetamol/calpol excessively sometimes in order to get rid of the pain but only ever lasts a day.

I've been trying cbd oil for pmdd this month and I actually think it's helping a ton! I work in a health food store so it seems that every month everyone's tossing some new remedy at me. And honestly, I'm open to it cause the past few months have been ROUGH. But the cbd oil, I think I take around 10mg every night and....I had a migraine yesterday but I am well into pmdd bad days territory and I feel pretty much completely normal. It's so awful when it hits hard. I've noticed lately I can literally sense it coming cause my vision changes 😱 everything gets kinda hazy and darkened and I know I'm sinking into it. And then it just spirals from there. Thanks for making this video and being so open to talking about these kinds of things!

Have you ever tried using the contraceptive pill? I used to get extremely painful periods, just completely crippling cramps and lower back pain. But when my doctor advised me to try the pill which helps stabilise your hormonal levels it’s been such a breeze. I know not everyone’s a fan of them, but honestly the amount of pain relief it gives and how it stabilises my mood it’s 100% worth it for me.

If you are having period cramps radiating down your legs, I would definitely recommend looking into whether you have back issues. I experienced that for years- the terrible back pain that radiated down my legs. I thought it was normal because my best friend got the same thing, but we were both gymnasts and both had terrible backs. Anyways, just something to think about.

I have PMDD as well and I'm on birth control... while it helps a bit (i.e. the symptoms are more manageable and last shorter amounts of time) it's definitely not a cure. I also have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and the best thing for that is therapy
