    The Broadway Limited went from NYC to Chicago and on the return trip it was called The National Limited. I rode that train on it's last run to NYC, boarding it in Harrisburg PA. I even stepped out and rode for a way on the Observation Platform on the last car. Part of the trip I was on was from Harrisburg to Philadelphia and then to NYC

    This is sorta the HO equivalent of the Lionel Vision Line Big Boy. It has some of the same features, most notably the whistle steam smoke effect and the depleting coal load.

    James, nice review. That's a whole lot of "smoke". Lots on impressive detail which seems to be the the norm for BLI's steam engines. I like the addition of the steaming whistle. I do wish some manufacture could come up with "smoke" that was lighter than air so it wouldn't waft back down onto the engine and layout. Cheers, Kevin

    Great Video! Wonderful to see Whistle Steam, Lighted number, classification, and markers on HO scale. And the smoke output rivals the best I've seen out of O Scale. Broadway Limited is really bringing HO to a new level of realism.

  • @Perfusionist01
    @Perfusionist01 Před 7 lety +1

    neat looking loco. I got to see one at Randy's Roundhouse in Lincoln. Couple details: the markers on the tender would only be used in a "light engine" movement. They were not used during normal train operations - apparently BLI wanted some extra colored lights. Second - the cab chatter. "Big Boy" locomotives were in operation BEFORE cab radios became common. The radio chatter is inappropriate for a 4-8-8-4 during their working acreers. Obviously UPP 4014 will have radio gear installed when in goes into excursion service.

  • @SCL7500

    Nice review and model. Clearly Broadway Limited got the inspiration for the smoking whistle and depleting coal load from Lionel. Up until now the smoking whistle and depleting coal load was exlusive to Lionel and MTH in O gauge.

    You mentioned in the review that the locomotive did not like your curves. It may not be the case. The front 3 drivers were off the rails when you powered up the loco initially. It was an excellent review. I am a PRR modeler so I won't own one. It is an excellent model and a credit to the workmanship that BLI puts into their products. As always your reviews are excellent and informative. Looking forwards to the future ones.

    I bought this loco 4014 oil version and its a great puller. it pulls my 57 car walthers UP smoothside passenger set with ease. but then again my Athearn Rivarossi and MTH bigboys can also pull the same set quite easily. i never doublehead my locos and I dont have steep inclines on my layout plus my sharpest curve has an 8' radius. I enjoy your reviews James But I'd like to see more of your runbys with the loco at speed.

    Hey JLWii2000, Nicely done on the review. I would like to say one thing here though. The plate toward the front of centipede tender as they are referred to is the builder's tender plate. These tenders have a class just like the locomotives do. I do not remember the class without my book, but I do remember reading about this. I would like to ask you to do something for me in the future. When doing a review of this locomotive of scale, can you please tell us how many rail cars that the ounce pulling test converts to? Just a thought or you could give me the conversion formula and I will convert the 6.8 ounces myself.Once again, thank you for the review. I have 4 of these on order. I hope they will pull a 100 rail cars like the real thing and even better if it pulls more rail cars.Benjamin

    even though I am impressed... I will not be doing business with BLI anymore. I was so excited to get my Santa Fe Paragon 2 2-10-2. got a bargain at the price. not even any run time on it and the no.4 driver was barley out of quarter. because I had the two year warranty. I sent it in. got it back trashed... broken hand rails missing parts and not even the same shell. only the running gear was original. sent it back. they replaced the decoder.... don't know why... they fixed the shell and everything. so I take it to my club and it won,t run right. put it on the jmri.. and it says there are two programs on it... I still can,t run it. so I am a little upset with them. I had one tiny issue and they have caused all these other issues.
