  • For the 2015 season, the Auburn University Marching Band will perform a variety of shows to entertain Auburn fans of all ages. For today’s 119th edition of the “Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry,” we join forces with our national champion mascot, Aubie the Tiger, and the Auburn University Department of Industrial Design to present a unique and captivating halftime experience. Utilizing the largest video board in college football, our award winning marching band will serve as the soundtrack for our own mini film, starring Aubie and other celebrities on campus. Our show features musical selections from the popular Back to the Future trilogy, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. The film sends Aubie back to 1985, an epic year in sports for Auburn University, where he must repair his time machine and travel back to the future in time for the second half of today’s game.
    - Back in Time / Power of Love -
We begin with two pop hits from Huey Lewis and the News that were written for and included in the original Back to the Future film. During this segment of the show, Aubie has just traveled back to 1985 and discovers that his makeshift time machine is damaged. While attempting to blend in with 1980s culture, he must search the campus high and low for the parts needed to repair the time machine.
    - Johnny B. Goode -
For the second segment of our show, we replicate the famous “dance/guitar scene” from the first and second Back to the Future films. The future Aubie attends a 1985 “beat Georgia” pep rally in search of the parts needed for his time machine. The crowd, anxiously awaiting an appearance by the 1980’s version of the mascot, forces him on stage where he performs his own rendition of the Chuck Berry classic, Johhny B. Goode.
    - Back to the Future -
To conclude our Back to the Future production, we turn to Alan Silvestri’s original film score. During this segment, Aubie has found all the materials needed to repair the time machine and must reassemble the parts and accelerate up to 88 miles per hour in time to return to Jordan Hare for the second half of the game. Look for the band’s speedometer reading on the field as well as the famous Back to the Future logo. If all goes well, Aubie, amidst a barrage of pyrotechnics, will make a triumphant return to Pat Dye field.
