    You guys should do a "2023 Special Release" blind for one of your Friday blind shows. This Four Roses, Birthday Bourbon, the new Maker's Mark Cellar Age, and then maybe whatever 2023 BTAC you can get your hands on. That would be an EPIC show!

    This sounds as if it has bright bourbon flavor profiles. I personally prefer darker, deeper flavors like Elijah Craig Barrel Proof offerings. I guess I just equate those flavors with the age of the bourbon. I also haven't found a blended bourbon I am willing to pay up this much for. Buy, like you, if I get the chance at MSRP, I will be purchasing and sharing the bottle. Great video as always, fellas. 👍🏻

    • @WhiskyForBeginners
      @WhiskyForBeginners Před 9 měsíci

      I'm drinking the regular small batch as I watch, and it is a lighter and fruitier bourbon than I usually drink. But it's good stuff, at least occasionally. And Four Roses is *expert* at blending - except for their single barrel juice, it's all blended. They have 10 different recipes that they use in different ways to produce good bourbon.

    I will likely never own a bottle, I will never likely own anything in half its price range, but its interesting to hear about it. While it was hard to pick something similar, its a good idea going forward to suggest something similar for expensive or hard to get bourbons on the channel. Even if its only close, it gives those of us on tight budgets something to look for.

    I spend $250.00 easily on single malt scotches so I think if this bourbon is rare and special I would spend that amount on a special anniversary release of Four Roses. I agree it would be a rare sipper to bring out on some special occasions. I don't really experience Four Roses as having the flavours of a traditional bourbon. Scotch prices are going up so much. I just bought a new Coreyvreckan and it was $205.00 before Canadian provincial taxes and we have a 15% alcohol sales tax. Sheeesh! So a lot of my scotch single malts are absolutely sippers on nice occasions and not something I have 2-3 times a week. That's my limit for small neat drinks! We all need to be responsible and I appreciate that you both recommend that! Cheers guys!

      Best advice is to go to a whisky bar and try them. Or join a local bourbon group and trade samples. Everyone's pallate is different. You will be surprised when you taste, both bad and good.
      For example, I thought 2022 4R LE was very good, but my first stagg jr was disappointing based on the hype. I bet plenty of people would disagree with that take.

    Had the option to buy one for 180.00 dollars but with so many excellent burbons available for under 50 dollars I passed and personally don't see myself spending over 80 to 100 dollars on anything Pappy's included. Don't hate but I enjoy Beam extra black, V.O.B and others and feel slightly silly drinking my 90 dollar Blanton's wondering if I really like it or not. Thanks for the review and please keep reviewing the expensive stuff as it is fun to learn about.
    P.S. if you could please list burbons that are cheaper, available and similar to the rare/expensive ones thanks!

  • @gregsmith5132
    @gregsmith5132 Před 9 měsíci

    The price needs to go to what people are willing to pay for it - its simple supply and demand - and they will meet and then you can find it on the shelf for the price people are willing to pay. While I may not pay $150 for a bottle myself - on a special occasion I may go in with 3 buddies to get a $600 bottle once in a while. It would be great if the $600 bottles were available for those occasions instead of having to constantly hunting (increasingly rare to find one), get favors, get lucky in a raffle, or buy one (potentially illegally) from a secondary market person. Basically your allocated bourbons are going to go for $300-$600 or more so why not price them that way at the store.

    Snarky off point Trent day I see... Way to complex of a dram for Uber simple observations. Dad - nice review

    I really enjoy these. Are they really $249? I recently picked up last years release here in Sweden for about $190. Quite a bit of money but now it seems like a good deal.

    To me personally speaking, over 10yrs. aged whisky is just too oaky for my taste. 10 yrs. is the sweet spot.
